I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Palin

Conservative columnist Kathleen Parker, admitting that until recently she was a vocal supporter of Sarah Palin, now says the vice presidential nominee should bow out:

Some of the passionately feminist critics of Palin who attacked her personally deserved some of the backlash they received. But circumstances have changed since Palin was introduced as just a hockey mom with lipstick -- what a difference a financial crisis makes -- and a more complicated picture has emerged.

As we've seen and heard more from John McCain's running mate, it is increasingly clear that Palin is a problem. Quick study or not, she doesn't know enough about economics and foreign policy to make Americans comfortable with a President Palin should conditions warrant her promotion.

Parker says her turnaround came from watching Palin in interview. Like other critics, she wasn't impressed:

Palin's recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I've been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I've also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there's not much content there.

It's so bad, Parker says, that Palin should quit the race:

Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first.

Read the whole thing.

Is it ok to say - I FLIPPIN' TOLD YOU SO!!

Why on earth, would you have expected anything more from a woman who just 18 months became Gov. of a state so far removed from the "lower 48" that they want to sesceed? From a self professed Hockey Mom, to VP possibly President of the United States? Bad Disney movie indeed!

What a joke - but unfortunately, I'm not laughing

Wow - well I guess you put me in my place. I've been properly sat down with that witty retort!

I just want to go on the record as saying that today, 9/26/08, is the day I've predicted Palin bows out for "family reasons." This is the last Friday in September; McCain can offer the job to Romney by Monday in an effort to salvage his joke of a campaign.

She's got until midnight.

I hope you placed some bets on this date, because it's looking like you might just clean up!

I think I am going to go with you on this.

I just want to see that nail in her coffin. Put her in the debate first; then she can leave.

Wow. Ya gotta love- or at least respect- an honest conservative.

She's clearly not *that* quick a study given the sometimes incomprehensible, sometimes W-level simplistic (e.g., "good guys" and "bad guys"). She an embarrassment.

Yes, Joe Biden sticks his foot in his mouth on a semi-regular basis, but then he also has articulate, intelligent, original thoughts.

She and McCain are both empty suits.

Yes, Joey gets away w/ sticking his foot in his mouth on occassion, only because people ultimately respect him and understand that he has an incredible wealth of knowledge, character and substance.

Everyone knew that Palin was not qualified...now even hardcore conservatives can see it!

Romney to give McCain some economic legs, probably.

The question isn't who they will pick. The question is who will accept. McCain is radioactive. Who will throw themselves on their sword for the party. McCain will never recover from admitting such a blown call. Should Palin bow out, McCain would have to accept responsibility for blowing the campaign. He keeps Palin and he gets to argue that the Cheney team was so inept and hated that no one could have overcome the political deficit they created.

McSame's campaign managers only want some free and extensive media coverage for their boy. They might float some weird notion for the sake of grabbing publicity - a la this latest "helping out the bail out" or " cancelling the debate". But it's all a big STUNT, Folks. Just their way of grabbing headlines about a big nothing.

McSame got a lot of coverage but I have been saying right from the start, "It's a scam." He's gonna debate. Much A Doo about Nothing!

Agreed! Thank you for being honest. It is clearly evident that Sarah Palin knows no more than my 14 year old on foreign policy and economics.
