Report: McCain Aides Complain That Palin Is "Clueless"

Radio talk show host Ed Schultz reports:

Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people are more than concerned about Palin. The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as "disastrous." One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, "What are we going to do?" The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is "clueless."

On Friday, conservative columnist Kathleen Parker said that after seeing Palin in interviews, she thinks the vice presidential nominee should drop out.

I think we are witnessing the downfall of the righteous, narcissistic, vindictive beauty queen that is Palin. She is getting smacked in the face with her ineptitude for VP. She knows she's in way over her head- you can see it in her body language and her facial expressions. Watching what little footage there was of her meetings with world leaders in NYC clearly showed a fish out of water. She didn't know what to do with her hands, when to sit, and she had a perpetual look of fright on her face. You could see it in her eyes and the way she held her mouth. It was certainly a far cry from the chin-jutting she was doing on the night of her debut at the convention. Bailing now, or them firing her would be disastrous for McCain. I think he realizes he's gotta lie in this bed he's made- which is why he made that comment, complete with phony smile, about her during the debate. Gotta keep selling her and hoping for the best.

I cannot WAIT to see this debate. She can't answer a question to save her life. It's utterly exhausting to listen to her. She truly is clueless and I can't wait until she comes back here to AK to hear what she has to say to all of us after the hell she's been putting our state through for the past month. RECALL!

i would caution biden not to "misunderestimate" sarah palin. she can't be this stupid. can she? maybe she's just playing possum. in any event, llike W., she will have the benefit of low expectations, while biden will have to meet a high bar. if he doesn't slaughter palin, undecided voters will say he lost. it's impossible for palin to perform in the vp debate as poorly as she has in her network interviews. isn't it? regardless, it's too much to expect, especially considering the high stakes.

Next Thursday's news: Palin is humiliated on national television and doesn't know it. Ninety % of Republicans say she "won" the debate against Biden. Experiencing a bizarre mix of horror and pity, undecideds quickly decide to vote for Obama.

Biden was on Countdown tonight, and said he has no plans to treat her with kid gloves. He said something to the effect that it would be condescending, which is the way McCain acted toward Obama tonight.
