I Like ItI Don’t Like It

What happens when John McCain is forced to attend a debate he really wanted to skip?

You get an angry John McCain -- and the inspiration for my newest video.

Watch it below:

Update: Ben Smith notes that the McCain campaign may be fearful of this perception too:

I'm struck by this Mark Salter line in a pool report that just came out, which seems to suggest McCain's camp is a little worried about how McCain's demeanor toward Obama came across.

"It was very tough debate but I don't think our candidate went over the line. He stayed on offense in a respectful way," he said.

If it were obvious, he wouldn't have to say it twice.

John McCain is a product of the Ugly Americans. His performance before and after the debate was indicitive of every unacceptable behavior that those types of people display that people of the universe, hate loathe and detest. Compared to Bush, even he knows how to pretend, Cheney displays worst behavior in public, McCain is a pure died in the wool, ugly American, and should not represent this country in any way.

McCain is a true warrior. As such, he gets angry sometimes. That's what makes him genuine and most Americans seem to appreciate it.
On the other hand, Obama is,by his nature, a professor . That's fine. However, professors don't usually make good leaders.

He also thinks his running mate is a gem, and for me, that 's enough to indicate he's not all well upstairs.Any idiot watching this woman in action ends up feeling embarassed about the country's direction.

Everyone's always trying to label Obama and denigrate whatever that label is. First it's community organizer, elitist, now it's professor. The truth is, Obama is *real* -- he connects with people -- he is more like me (I'm a 45 year old white single mother) than Sarah Palin ever will be. Because he "gets it" -- yes, he's taught Constitutional Law but he is by no means a stereotypical "professor" -- he is a natural born leader, he's smart, he'll surround himself with plenty of other smart people, and he will help us take our country back. He is inspiring because he believes in the American dream, he is the American dream, and he is willing to roll up his sleeves and help other people achieve the American dream. He'll make an excellent leader, I have no doubt.

My main man Cenk Uyger of The Young Turks said this about the sense of entitlement of McCain: "John McCain was born on third base and thought he hit a triple."

McCain needs to stop saying he's not feeling so great these days. Words are power.
Let's all lighten up: ( Goodsong for Sunday...)

i am more than amazed at the msm's indignity sen. obama is not the candidate they think he should be; he should have done this, he should have done that. they, like sen. mccain, are looking at our candidate through the lens of their 20th century knowledge, bias and arrogance. for me, i would suggest, go back and look at the debate again with the sound off. look at the demeanor, the body language, the facial expressions. which candidate in these harrowing times, with the future and security and prosperity of this country for future generations hanging in the balance, has the temperment, intelligence, honesty and judgment to lead our country?

I heard a post debate analysis stating that McCain was "punitive" whereas Obama was "restorative" and that McCain was "a maverick" whereas Obama was "visionary"...
Please Americans, give us hope, unity and growth...not an angry divisive government.

Obama/Biden

McCain looks even worse when he's attempting to smile.

I remember his debate with Romney. They were sitting side by side and McCain could not hide his anger, disdain and sense of entitlement, even though he was smiling the whole time.

He cannot help himself. He will never be able to overcome his telling facial expressions and body language because he is incapable of respecting any of his competitors.

Can't wait for some detailed dissection of McCain's best "WTF statements" -- two that have come back to me are "staring into Putin's eyes and seeing 3 letters: KGB" (said with clenched jaw and manufactured forcefulness as if to make us all shudder at the idea of the bogeyman coming to get us) and then the really bizarre statement about North Koreans being 3 inches shorter than South Koreans - I actually thought I might have been "dreaming" that and called someone the morning after to confirm it.

Yes, McCain represents and wants to maintain America 's 20th Century role and image, that of the aggressive predator nation, an enforcer of sorts, that the world looked to for protection. He's looking at yesterday, while Obama is the promise of a 21st century approach to global conflict, one that is centered more on conflict resolution and stability than on bellicose rantings and saber-rattling.

The implication of the North Korean statement was that Kim Jong Il was starving its people to the point that they are malnourished and not growing to the height of their Southern neighbors.

McCain's statement had no context so it did seem bizarre.

Yes, someone explained to me that that was the point he was *trying* to make - about North Koreans being malnourished - but even if that point had been clear, it was, as you say, completely without context and non sequitur to anything that was being discussed. He truly does just "blurt out random crap" and think that it sounds cogent - that's how delusional he is. It might interest McCain to know that there are a lot of malnourished people around the world, including in our own country, thanks to the failed policies of the last 8 years with the number of hungry mouths to feed growing alongside the unemployment rate.

Actually, McCain did better than I thought he would. I was expecting super nova. His big challenge will be next debate. I am sure that Obama will start pointing out that all McCain has is stump speech rhettoric and can't leave his talking points long enough to answer a question. If he attacks McCain's recycling early and often, we'll see McCain looking foolish for staying with canned answers and exploding before the end of the debate. It's going to be very entertaining.

I have just one question.....
How does a man 6'3" manage to be equal in height to a man 5'7"?

Yeah, I wondered if there was some sort of ramp platform under the red rug because the floor looked higher at his podium than at O's. Although it could have just been the camera angle.

I remember reading that he once totally lost it and threw some expletive at an opponent after a debate when the guy pointed out that he'd been standing on a box.

I think McCain's visible anger throughout the debate gives new importance to releasing his medical records.

Are you afraid he's gonna to kick the bucket? I believe he'll live long and make it through two terms. (If elected... They keep very close watch on the commander in chief. There's a live in medical team.)

Just what America needs.
Tanking economy.....
Wars and rumors of war.....
Unemployment over 6%.
And America will be waiting with bated breath to find out if our COC will live another day?
With the lipsticked pitbull champing at the bit to get rid of the bad guys while keeping an eye on Russia?
God Help America.

What diplomat would want John McCain next to them on any negotiation? A man who thinks he is always right and takes no responsibility for past mistakes? Who shakes his fist at people? Who doesn't even know if he will talk to the President of Spain, our ally?

I found it EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE that Obama and his wife had to cross the entire stage to go shake the McCains' hands and they watched them cross the whole stage and didn't make ONE STEP toward them to meet them half way. That was extremely condescending and rude.

Arrogance, lack of humility is a problem in anyone, but especially for politicians, since they depend of approval. People could forgive a humble person a lot of shortcomings, but they are so ready to stick it to the "superior" one.

Or bangs the podium with his shoe like Nikita Krushchev? I can understand Nixon wanting the Soviets and Chinese to let the diplomatic community leak that he was crazy enough to use nukes, but that was a ploy, not the real thing. The world is too dangerous a place for a real loose cannon.

And thanks for mentioning the end of the debate. I looked away when I saw Cindy bounce up onto the stage.

What Senator McCain does not realize when one throws excrement, it most often gets all over one's hands.
