I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Sarah Palin

As the New York Times reported before Friday night's debate, Sarah Palin would not be providing post-debate spin for John McCain on the major TV networks:

After Barack Obama and John McCain stop talking on the debate stage Friday night, their surrogates will start spinning. But one high-profile supporter of Mr. McCain will be missing: his running mate Sarah Palin.[...]

Ms. Palin is scheduled to be at a debate-viewing event in Philadelphia, covered by a limited group of reporters, and she is not listed by any networks as a post-debate guest. On NBC and CBS, the former Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani will be commenting on the debate performances.

As The New Republic's Michael Crowley noted during the post-debate coverage, Palin's absence looked particularly awkward given the fact that Joe Biden was appearing all over the place:

Amusing moment on CNN just now. Wolf Blitzer, coming out of a commercial:

"We've been getting some emails from views out there wondering why we spent some time interviewing Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee and not Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee. We would have loved to interview--we'd still love to interview Sarah Palin. Unfortunately we asked, we didn't get that interview...We're hoping that Sarah Palin will join us at some point down the road."

I'm told that Biden appeared on every major network tonight except ABC (which only turned him down because Palin wasn't available, on an equal-time sort of basis).

It's pretty strange when a candidate can't trust his own running mate to be out there spinning on his behalf.

palin hasnt even been asked about her and her husband's secessionist ties.

also national enquirer has sources (who passed a lie detector test) who say that she had an extra martial affair. wow the bastions of the conservative movement--unfaithful spouses (both john and sarah)

I agree, this is frightening. why isn't anyone asking her this? This is unfair to the american people. Can you believe there are people who are still saying that Palin is qualified and watch out she is amazing.

The word's getting out. Fox News just reported on the Politico story.

http://dyn.politico.com/members/forums/thread.cfm?catid=1&subcatid=2&threadid=1489829&sort=1&start=1&CurrentPage=1

That's significant because it's going to reach Republican voters, maybe even Palin herself. Can you imagine her being at home with the family and seeing that story? Or even worse, in the presence of McCain staffers! They appear stuck. If she bails, any excuse they give will be questioned, even ridiculed. And the story will dominate the news cycles for days. Who would replace her? If she stays, she's bound to exhibit that deer in the headlights look again. They're in trouble! I mean, hey, this man put this woman a heartbeat away from the presidency.

That was so sad on CNN. Especially since Blitzer's comments came after interviewing Biden, who came on after McCain's spokeswoman kept repeating this mantra about the McCain/Palin ticket being a "real" winner -- and accusing Obama of "raising taxes on 95% of people".

It was if: "Honey, where were you during the debate? He repeatedly said he was lowering taxes on 95% of the people."

How pathetic that a US presidential campaign in this day and age is so convoluted, compromised, orchestrated and deceitful. Just by difference in campaign tactics alone, Obama is a breath of fresh air.

Our nation faces its most serious crisis at incredibly complex times globally, for a presidential contender to insult voters with such an incredibly unqualified - undignified - choice, well..,... how low can we go?

didnt they say she was tough? didnt they say she was qualified?

it was an excellent tactic of the Obama campaign to have Biden go on all the shows. the question of why sarah palin was missing was emphasized. it fed the not qualified narrative big time. wonderful subtle attack. it worked.

As I was checking out my groceries this afternoon I had to pass the rag mags stand and my oh my the Enquirer had Palin on the front page and a pic of a man they claim she had an affair with.

Anyone out there know anything more about this? Fox sure got out front with the Enquirers Edwards affair but they seem to be quiet on this one.

Is there anything to this article in the Enquirer?

McCain threatened with a law suit to prevent the publication of this and NE's response was "bring it on" since NE seems to have iron clad sources.

Don't know a thing about an affair but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the Republicans planted that story just to give them an excuse to show Palin the door.

Polygraph tests, sworn affidavits ... it looks like the real McCoy. I'd love to hear the campaign spin this the way they spun her daughter's pregnancy. "This is a real American family, dealing with the real problems we all face."

Never have we seen hypocrisy writ so large.

She's like the McCain camp Hooters gal. Sit there on that barstool Miss Sarah, now shut up & smile pretty for the customers NO QUESTIONS NO QUESTIONS PLEASE!

This is McCain's idea of somebody ready to be the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES in the event he can't finish his term? Give me a break. They can't even trust her with post-debate cheerleading. That's pretty telling.
