John McCain is running a new campaign ad that actually attacks Barack Obama for agreeing with John McCain. This has to be the first time in history that a candidate ever went negative on his opponent for being too agreeable.

If the ad had a lighthearted, funny tone I think it could work. But instead, it is angry and sneering, just like John McCain.

Watch the ad:

Aside from the tone, the ad's problem is that it reinforces Obama's message that he is willing to work across party lines. Why in the world would a campaign put up an ad that says that the opposing candidate only cares about doing the right thing, not about winning the political battle.

Basically, McCain is accusing Obama of being a decent guy.

Moreover, everybody knows that Barack Obama has serious disagreements with John McCain, starting with Iraq -- where John McCain was unequivocally wrong:

John McCain is running a new campaign ad that actually attacks Barack Obama for agreeing with John McCain. This has to be the first time in history that a candidate ever went negative on his opponent ...

lol....Is their point that people should vote for McCain because Obama agrees with some of his points? By the way, I think a lot of commentators are missing that Obama tries to find one point where he agrees with his opponent before explaining the differences. Fox News was all over him for this, saying they think he agrees with McCain on everything. Idiots....

Mac's whole campaign has been a huge stunt and a waste of time, energy and money... Sarah Palin could do a much better job up in alaska being governor and keeping an eye on russia..

I was undecided prior to the debate...I felt that no one delivers a "knock out punch"...the sneers and faces, and muttering under one's breath really is a cause for concern. Mc Cain came across as a crotchety and grumpy man. If you do not win the election-this debate may be the defining moment for you. Not to worry, if they remake Snow White, you are a perfect candidate to play GRUMPY.
How are you going to negotiate with the Congress, foreign leaders, etc. by sneering at them, swearing under your breath-take a chill pill and act presidential.

Who would have guessed that our self-professed war hero's campaign would turn into such a clusterf*ck so early?

It was a clusterf**k that made him a war hero.

When McCain says something that Obama agrees with, rather than say that McCain is right, he should simply say "Senator McCain shares my view" or "I see Senator McCain agrees with me"

If he wanted to take it a step further he could say "I see senator McCain agrees with me today" Then go into how he keeps changing his position

Here is a list of Obama's change in postions.

He now supports broader authority for the government's eavesdropping program and legal immunity for telecommunications companies that participated in it, after opposing a similar bill last year.

After the Supreme Court overturned the District of Columbia's gun ban, the handgun-control proponent said he favors both an individual's right to own a gun as well as government's right to regulate ownership. He opposed hand guns before.

Obama became the first major-party candidate to reject public financing for the general election after earlier promises to accept it.

He objected to the Supreme Court's decision outlawing the death penalty for child rapists, even though he has been anti-capital punishment.

Noy to mention I wil pull out all troops from Iraq imedialty to I will examine the situation.

Should I go on?

Now who is changing their postions. Not McCain that is for sure.

Check your facts. When information enters your brain you need to filter through the garbage. Its an advanced cognitive function which seems to escape many McCain supporters.

Yes, please go on. Go on to where you came from. There is no one here that wants to hear your drivel. We are smarter than that and already know you are lying.

"I'm glad Senator McCain has adopted our view"

Takes out the charge of :"smugness" and points out that McCain was the odd man out on most of his views, but now he has "adopted" them, e.g. taken someone else's views and called them his own.

McBush is just the worst choice I have seen since Bush, Ronnie Raygun and probably GHWB.

He has lost the one thing he used to claim he had, HONOR.

He shows NONE now and the fact that he allows the smear ads that he does shows he is not fit to lead America. He is just another Bush who would have the attitude of my way or the highway.

We've already seen that play.

ENOUGH.

So Obama doesn't have a knee-jerk reaction to oppose every statement McCain makes; that's a bad thing!?! I thought finding common ground was a good thing. I thought we needed to move beyond partisan politics. Putting country first, right? Evidently not in McCain's world. McCain has no problem approving of a message that disparages Obama for agreeing with him on certain points. In the next debate I hope Obama will confront McCain on this; I would love to see McCain's reaction. McCain's ad was shameful and showed a real lack of character.

The problam with finding comon ground with Obama is the ground is alwas shifting. It is hard for McCain to keep up with all the lies Obama is telling.

If the ground shifts a lot to you with Obama, then McCain must live with an earthquake under his feet, he's notoriously known for flipping like a pancake, you would know that to if you were objectively following the events.

Just look at how many gaffes, flips in positions, stumbles and erratic moments, JM has had in the last 2 weeks alone.

You may dislike Obama for your own personal reasons but you really can't believe with all your fiber that JM is truly the most intellectually viable candidate to better lead our country towards the future.

After all, intellect and judgment should be among the most desirable qualities that we should look for in a president, right?

McCain has gone from war hero, to bitter, pathetic, old man. America's not ready for the 3rd act.

I wish the 2nd video of Obama disagreeing with McCain on the war with McCain's actual quotes were made into an Obama ad. Sucker punch the sucker.

What a silly ad. Infantile at best, still, Obama should not have agreed so much with McCain! There is a difference between being genial and plainly handing him the cheese.

I am still waiting for the beast in Obama to come out *tick tock tick tock*, I fear that for the town hall meetings, Karl Rove will have all his relatives Fill up the room and then McCain (aka Snide old huskie) will rip him to shreds.

*sigh*

I still think Obama should GROWL back hard at McCain sometimes. Yes, he looked presidential during the debate but sometimes he should use some tart humor too...
No one is above letting it rip sometimes especially in this type of closely fought race.

Now all together... let us G R RRRR OOOO WWWW LLL back at the McCain camp...
