John McCain is running a new campaign ad that actually attacks Barack Obama for agreeing with John McCain. This has to be the first time in history that a candidate ever went negative on his opponent for being too agreeable.

If the ad had a lighthearted, funny tone I think it could work. But instead, it is angry and sneering, just like John McCain.

Watch the ad:

Aside from the tone, the ad's problem is that it reinforces Obama's message that he is willing to work across party lines. Why in the world would a campaign put up an ad that says that the opposing candidate only cares about doing the right thing, not about winning the political battle.

Basically, McCain is accusing Obama of being a decent guy.

Moreover, everybody knows that Barack Obama has serious disagreements with John McCain, starting with Iraq -- where John McCain was unequivocally wrong:

John McCain is running a new campaign ad that actually attacks Barack Obama for agreeing with John McCain. This has to be the first time in history that a candidate ever went negative on his opponent ...

If everyone agreed with McCain he would no longer be a maverick. He would be a Clydesdale pulling a honey wagon.

John MaCcain is ready to lead because he would not
dare listen to anything John MCcain says. Due to the fact,
he knows John MCcain better than anyone and just how full of S@#$ he is. Just
agreeing with John Mccain once is proof OBama
is not ready to lead. Furthermore, anyone who would
vote for John MCcain should not be allow to vote
because that would be evendence of listening to .......You know who?

John MCcain.

McGimmick and McFlipFlop

We KNOW HE LOVES A GIMMICK! Just look at this "out of context" AD
He likes to "GAME the SYSTEM and the AMERICAN PEOPLE"
Pat Buchanan calls him "HOT HEADED"
He calls himself a "GAMBLER"
We see he is a "FLIPFLOPPER"
Prefers "LOOKS over SUBSTANCE" Palin
Indecisive about most EVERYTHING
We know he loves "WAR"

Do we want a GAMBLING, GIMMICKY, HOTHEADED trigger finger, WAR LOVING, FLIPFLOPPER, who likes GAMING the system and the AMERICAN PEOPLE to be in control of the President's BUTTONS?

McFlipFlop (Just a FEW!)

Economy is Sound - Must Support Bailout - Economy is BAD
For Bailout - Stop Bailout - For Bailout
Against AIG - For AIG
For Debate - Against Debate - For Debate
For Funding Banks - For EVEN LARGER TAX BREAKS FOR BANKS
For Control of Executive Compensation - Not For Control of Executive Compensation
For Helping Home Owners - Against Helping Home Owners
For Equity in Banks - Against Equity in Banks
Against AIG - NOW FOR INSURANCE

He is harder to watch than a PRO TENNIS GAME!

What is this ad even trying to do?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:40 PM on 09/27/2008

I was sent this ad as well with the title: "Dumbest McCain Ad Yet". It's just shocking that he would think this is an effective attack for anyone other than his base (which is exactly who he doesn't need to rally right now). He needs the independent voters who he pissed off last night by his rude behavior, and that's exactly the type of people who will be disgusted by this ad. Top Five Reasons why McCain was so rude to Obama here, pretty funny: http://beatjohnmccain.blastgroups.com/blog/all/103

Just because Obama showed McCain the respect he deserves does not mean McCain should show utter disdain for the nominee of half the population of the United States. However you slice it the Ad is despicable.

Calling Senator McCain John is not showing respect that is belittling his opponent, by not addressing him by his title. The name is SENATOR JOHN MCCAIN.

!!! NOBAMA !!!

Are you serious? You do know that McCain addresses Obama by his first name on many occasions don't you? I also assume you also know that the moderator of the debate asked that they address EACH OTHER@!!!! The tone was supposed to be conversational. I guess silly season is still in effect.

You must remember that both of these men have been working together for years. Do you always call your colleague by his official title or by MR....? I doubt it. Most people in this day of age, show that they are a friend or are on friendly terms by using the person's first name. Those that don't are showing a distance or trying to keep their distance.

McCain never even looking at Obama was far worse than Obama calling McCain, John.

As the President of the United State, the president regardless of if he likes the person or not should at least acknowledge them by looking at them. (and definitely a citizen of the USA) By not, you are clearly stating that you aren't interested in what they have to say.

McCain states he is for bipartisanship to help do whatever is needed to produce a change.
If he is for change than he needs to look at who he will be working with( show respect even if it hurts him to do so)- otherwise all is LOST.

As Barack Obama has been saying, he can work across parties. He looks for good ideas, not caring where they come from. If once in a while, even John McCain has a good idea, Barack Obama is willing to listen to it, unlike the senator from the POW camp. This not only shows John McCain's stupidity, but also that of his campaign management. It's almost as bad as the idea to select Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate. They probably spent as much time on the decision to run the add as they did picking Sara Palin.

We are all hoping that the intelligence level in the White House will go up in January, 2009, but if McCain is elected the IQ of the White House would further diminish.

Get with it Obama has never in his poitical career reached accross to the other party. You must be Obama washed. You need to do some resarch becasue you are total wrong on this one. Start reading some real history instead of the Obama propanda.

John McCain is a man with no honor. I am 52 years old and I understand honor when I see it

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:17 PM on 09/27/2008

Why does John McCain have no honor because he points out how out in left field Obama is. I call that being honest. Pointing out that Obama is not centric he tries to appear. See the people on the right see right through the Obama lies. The left is blind to it. I applaud John McCain for pointing out.

!!! NOBAMA !!!

Interesting effort. Has nothing whatsoever to do with the story (or the absurd ad), but you got a chance to take your troll-in-training talking points out for a walk.

the ad could be effective within mccain's base. the soundbytes used in the ad suggests that mccain is right where he's actually wrong. of course tactfully the ad doesn't tell the whole, unedited truth -- those who didnt watch the debate (or didnt watch in its entirety) wouldnt realize that and view the ad as obama being compensatory.

during the debate, obama is agreeing with mccain on principal but not in practical application. mccain responds to lehrer's questions in theory and obama was agreeing with the principal. mccain did not apply those principals practically for the middle class nor did mccain suggest an explicit plan for those principals going forward. so obama agreeing mccain those 5 times were taken out of context bcuz he was merely being objective not necessarily partisan or magnanimous.
