Heather Locklear Arrested For DUI In Montecito

MONTECITO, Calif. — Heather Locklear was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance in the upscale Santa Barbara area, authorities said Sunday.

Locklear, 47, was pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer Saturday afternoon after a resident reported seeing the actress leaving a parking lot and "driving erratically," patrol spokesman Tom Marshall said.

The officer noticed Locklear's car parked on a state highway and blocking a lane in Montecito, a wealthy community about 90 miles northwest of Los Angeles. She was believed to be alone in the car, Marshall said.

"In talking with her, (the officer) determines that she seems to be under the influence of something," Marshall said.

Locklear was taken to the police station, where she was tested for alcohol and drugs. She was booked at 7 p.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription medication. She was later released from custody.

Calls to Locklear's publicists were not immediately returned.

Locklear's TV credits include "T.J. Hooker," "Dynasty," "Melrose Place" and "Spin City," and her film roles include "The Perfect Man" and "Uptown Girls."

Locklear checked into a medical clinic in June to seek treatment for anxiety and depression.

Last year, she got a divorce from Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora after 11 years of marriage. They have a daughter, Ava Elizabeth.

Wealthy star handed life on a silver platter. She enjoys more freedom and benefits than we could dream of. Obviously money and fame don't make you happy, and they certainly don't ensure you make the right decisions. But they often relieve people of responsibility.

She chose to get behind the wheel under the influence. That's a crime. It shouldn't matter who you are, how pretty, how much money you have in the bank. You make the decision to put lives at risk, you lose. Wanna dance... gotta pay the band.

i can understand that a blue collar or middle class person working 10 hours a day gets depressed when he is late on his morgage and wonders he is going to pay his kids school.

i have no sympathy for an hollywood starlet making very good money and being "depressed" . when you get a multi million dollar with l'oreal, you check in in a classy clinic and get into rehab.

get a reality check , with several million dollars n your bank account, you go to the bahamas for a month in a 5 stars resort and get over it.

you know I'm a pretty cynical old dude but some of the posts here are effing mean-spirted. I feel bad for anybody going through what she is. I hope she recovers and makes a comeback. I don't think she ever claimed to be some great talent but I always thought she had class. Hollywood has taken a toll on many a performer.

I agree timbo, the media has been mean spirited this month, but I when I blog, I ask people not to drink a drop and drive. Child custody could be lost, freedom, or lives! Heather did pull off the road and apparently her medication was detected.Not alchol! Obviously, anxiety levels are high with her, though she is trying! I say again, not adrop and drive! If her name were not with this story, I would not know who this was. What did spending what I would assume was a considerable amount of $ to alter her looks, do to make her a happier person from what she was before the scalpel. Compare this story to all the stories about Paul Newman. The man who knew what REALLY mattered in life.
