USA Today:

A new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows 46% of people who watched Friday night's presidential debate say Democrat Barack Obama did a better job than Republican John McCain; 34% said McCain did better.

Obama scored even better -- 52%-35% -- when debate-watchers were asked which candidate offered the best proposals for change to solve the country's problems.

Interesting reading this blogs and comparing them to the McCain and Palin Blogs. On one, an Obama supporter was threated with being killed, skinned and dumped ina trash bin. Really scary what the McBain campaign is doing to stir people who are already mentally unhealthy.

This was no surprise to me!

America is GREAT because of "FAIR MARKETS" people TRUST! --NOT-- "free markets" without RULES!

A FAIR SOCIETY and FAIR MARKETS are What Made America Great!

American Society a not a Completely Free Society but it is a FAIR Society with Certain Freedoms.

A Completely free Society without LAWS to GOVERN would be CRIME RIDDEN, ruining our standard of living.

If American Markets were Completely Free Markets Corruption would RUN WILD.
For most of our history AMERICA PRIDED ITSELF IN FAIR MARKETS.

But in the last 8 YEARS we have SEEN AN EXPERIMENT WITH FREE MARKETS and AMERICA IS IN CRISIS.

Therefore, like Society, our Markets need a Robust set of Rules and Regulations to reduce corruption and apply punishment to those violating those laws.

I'm not sure how anyone could say old man yelling at lazy clouds isn't a winning ticket. My favorite part was when he said Barack Obama doesn't understand.... I believe the seventh time was my favorite.

Yeah, Obama is the better candidate. If people vote fairly, he should win.

From PumaAnn:

"The key will be how she thinks on her feet. We know she's good at staying on message. I think she'll be expected to be aggressive and more fluid.

IF she does that?

Then I predict you'll see women's opinion swing back in favor"

______________________________________________________

Honestly, all jokes aside, when in this race, has she been on message? Any message?
Links, please?Quotes from articles since Aug 29th? (Speeches do not count because we know she did not write them). Just anything that shows this woman is qualified to be dog catcher of a small Indian hamlet outside New Delhi, let alone VP. Anything?

I don't hate the woman by any stretch, but for real-one has to wonder about any woman who is not offended by this pick, Republican or not. You can't tell me that this is the best woman that the Republican party has to offer OUR COUNTRY and that it's ok that they have denigrated and disrespected women, ALL WOMEN, in such a way. It's just impossible. Look, I'm nowhere close to being a diehard feminist, but McCain picking Sarah Palin only confirmed for me what I already suspected. This man (and subsequently, the Republican party) hates women. No love for us AT ALL and are b@lls to the wall throwing it in our faces.

I sincerely do not understand how other goood and thinking women think this is all right.

Oh, she's done great at staying on Mac's message. Where she's flubbed is expanding. You can tell she's not comfortable. She repeats.

It's not because she's stupid. That's just underestimation by people. It's because she doesn't want to gaffe. She won't get the leeway Biden gets if she does that.

Take the FDR on TV gaffe. Frankly, folks, that was shocking to me. That showed a tremendous lack of basic history facts. Why aren't you worried about just how bright Biden really is?

If she can manage to get unconstipated for the debates, she'll do fine.

FDR on tv 'shocking'? Hardly. FDR was the first President who appeared
on film a lot. TV was invented as early as 1928, not so much later as many
imagine. Not a lot of home receivers around, certainly, but FDR was a very
visible President. Biden's special affection for his Berettas troubles me more.

Palin is a cartoon character ... she is good for some laughs and that's about it.

Ann, all I have heard her do is repeat a bunch of nonsense. If that's his message, then ok....She's not shown any capacity to add to it, not even a little bit. I know it's hard to learn so much in so little time, but what does it say that she can't speak her own coherent thought? Talking points? On Message? What about her own message?

Say what you witll about Sen Obama and Sen Biden, but you know those men have original, coherent thoughts that they speak to. This woman has shown no such capacity. If she's just a parrot, that does not serve our gender well if we truly want to move forward.

I'm sorry, but Sarah Palin is probabaly a hoot and a half to hang out with and do "girllfriend things", but this woman is nowhere close to being leader of the free world, or even half such...

I just can't abide this...It's dangerous folly and foolishness....

"Shocking"? You are obviously easily shocked. I ran for a city council seat back in the late seventies and did a couple of local TV news interviews. Trust me, being on camera can make one a bit nervous. Not voting for someone because of a few verbal flubs is just plain silly. BTW, Biden has an infinitely more distinguished record than Palin.

You are almost there, Obama. Your vision for this country and your intellectual mind have held you in good stead. Just a few miles to go before you cross that finish line. A race well run.

It does seem strange that the "media" pundits are trying to make us believe that the first debate was pretty much a wash,a draw! Every poll of voters gives Obama a clear win! Are the CMSM just trying to keep it close to increase their ratings and thus their profits?

The MSM know that Obama is going to win but that doesn't sell. A "close" race sells much better.

It is sad that the MSM is so in to viewers and profit that they can not bring themselves to be honest.

They and only they, that is, the media and its pundits etc, are swiftboating Obama. They are the ones to watch.closely. Thank God for the internet via bloggers and commenters to keep it real. Didn't they do the same to build -up Hillary Clinton. even when the writing was on the wall?
Watch and see whenever Obama goes up in the polls or wins anything how they bring up race, what if he loses, etc, anything negative to breed fear and to detract.. Pathetic and predictable.
Stay Strong people. Do not be swayed!

I don't think this type of poll much matters. What will matter are the independents in the swing states and what they thought.

There were overnight polls to suggest that independent voters were more
impressed with Obama than McCain.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080927/ap_on_el_pr/presidential_debate_polls

'In a CBS News poll of people not committed to a candidate, 39 percent said
Obama won the debate, 24 percent said McCain and 37 percent called it a tie.
Twice as many said Obama understands their needs than said so about McCain.'

Again, I think it matters what independents in the swing states felt. An independent from my state is generally close to being anarchist. LOL* That's quite a bit different from an independent from Missouri.

That's probably why these polls are generally considered to be unreliable in terms of effect on a race.

Plus, I'm also convinced that messages that people do NOT like to hear....and we sure got a snootful of real stuff....takes time to be mulled over and processed.

Leher's question: What will you change now due to the situation about the economy was the central question of the night.

It will take people time to adjust.

From your lips to God's ear.

My God. I don't know why that video hit me so hard. I guess all this craziness and my fear the republicans will STILL manage to steal this election (I don't trust the results won't be MANIPULATED) despite all their insane ways, I just sat and watched this clip and cried. And I HATE crying.

Does the Gallup website USUALLY put up results of polls
they do with a partner, such as USA today?

Anyway, here's the latest poll from their website: Obama up by 5%

Rasmussentreports.com puts their results up eariler around 9:30 eastern- their daily tracking this morning has Obama 50 and McCain 44

No, they let USA publish it, because it's a poll contracted by USA. Later it shows up, after USA gets its publicity out of it.
