Barney Frank Mocks GOP: "Because Somebody Hurt Their Feelings, They Decide To Punish The Country"

Barney Frank

So the Republicans are saying they lost the vote because Nancy Pelosi gave a speech that offended twelve of their members.

Well Barney Frank has an offer for them:

Give me those twelve people's names, and I will go talk uncharacteristically nicely to them, and tell them what wonderful people they are, and maybe they'll think about the country.

Here's video of the Republicans whining about Pelosi, and of Frank telling them to grow up:

So the Republicans are saying they lost the vote because Nancy Pelosi gave a speech that offended twelve of their members. Well Barney Frank has an offer for them: Give me those twelve people's name...

Yeah I guess 40% of the Dems got their feelings hurt too.

Who knew, if they bail, the 40%, Bush's fav rating would drop to 28%.

we know that the repubs hate America because America hates Bush, but someone please tell me why 40% of the Dems didn't vote for this bill?

I called my senators and Nancy Pelosi - I don't want the bailout which benefits the banks but
burdens the tax payers. We, the People, have had this happen to us now 4 times in 20 years
and frankly, I am sick of it. People should riot in the streets against this. Let them eat it, they
voted for the deregulation, they caused it. How many times do we need to bail them out?
The market will correct itself and yes, we need regulations and with regulation oversight!
Something we have not seen in a long time, they were too busy stealing!

Sadly, if Congress does NOT pass some kind of legislation, the rest of the baning & credit industry will be crushed. Try demanding that your employer pull YOUR paycheck out of his @$$ - dam the REST of your co-workers' paychecks - in a couple weeks from now!

This "Rescue" package is FAR from good, but we HAVE to do SOMETHING NOW - As per economic experts like Robert Reich, Laura Tyson, Susy Orman. I, for one, don't care too much for this whole "bailing out the fat-cats" ordeal EITHER, but I WOULD like to be self-employed so I can make SOME money soon!

We just have to keep letting Congress know "Do NOT reward the CEOs and chairmen of Wall Street", REWARD Average Joe for letting those criminals live another day - to count their billions of OUR EARNED dollars!!!!!!
The lying, cheating, dem0nic crooks from Wall Street have enough money to last throughout their GREAT GRANDCHILDREN'S lives: NO MORE COW-TOWING to THEM!!!!! COW-TOW TO THE TAX-PAYING VOTER NOW!!!!!

Go on, get writing, Vippy & everyone! It's a great catharcist!!!!

Willy, I can think of one good reason, that the repugs did not support the bailout. They want to blame the Democrat’s if it did not work (so much for bipartisanship). And remember the repubs are not fiscal conservatives they pretend to be, they have presided over the largest increase in government spend and earmarks since FDR, along with huge deficits’ that our children will be paying for all their lives. They simply proved the childish behavior of the repug party. Please start understanding how politics’ works. McCain, and his fellow cry baby repubs, is not the solution to this problem, he is the problem.

Biggest reason conservatives do not support a bail out is that in a free market, you have a right to fail. Government bail out allows those who have failed to continue in their failure.

While you are wringing you hands in democratic angst, consider that Bush's approval rating is 30% and the approval rating for the democratic Congress is about 15%.

Nice job, dems.

These 12 Republicans with their hurt feelings also caused a loss of 1.2 trillion dollars in the stock market.

Obviously you aren't heavily invested in the market. I'm not either so I say let them suffer too. Just think for a moment about those who have 100 % of their retirement tied up in the stock market. Don't they deserve some help? I don't think this bill is the answer but shouldn't we do something?

Why don't all these pompous stuffed shirts, and I mean ALL of them, democrats and republicans alike, drop their damn party lines for a few days and get to work on what must be done to save this country and keep all their sarcastic barbs to themselves until this matter is fixed. It's like watching a bunch of kindergartners all fighting for the same toy. Each of them needs to step up to the plate and perform for this country.

From what I heard she gave a jab to Bush not the Repub's in general. Saying that they didn't vote for a bill because they got their feelings hurt will definately work against them at reelection time.

Apparently, Nancy Pelosi is a weak Speaker. She could not get over 90 democrats to vote with her party.

The blame game is getting a little old. Everyone in Washington is culpable. Even the ones that predicted this fallout are to blame. They didn't drive the point home hard enough. At the top of my list is Barney Fife....why don't you cast ever hold your own accountable.

Here you have Pelosi bashing GW as the worst president in history and the cause of all this and then wants congress to vote for HIS bail out plan?

She stated what every American knows!! This bail out is necessary because of the failed policies of Bush administration! They didn't want anyone reminding voters of it!

Like we'd ever forget!

She was trying to deflect the Dems responsibility in the matter and the Repubs said FU Pelosi. Pretty stupid statement from the Leader who is supposed to call a vote only when she knows it will pass. She screwed the pooch on this one.

I voted against the bailout bill! (before I voted for it).

I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole. ~Sen John McCain, May 26, 2006

And where was Chris Dodd and Barney Frank?

Love ya, Barney.

Why is it that homosexuals in Congress and on MSNBC are looking so much more mature than most of the Republicans we have to look at every day? Seriously, Rachel and Barney are certainly not the stereotypical lesbian or gay portrayed on most TV shows.

Email, write or call your democrat representative now!

Let Pelosi know that vacation or recess until THURSDAY is NOT an option right now!

Let us Dems step up and take ownership/leadership of the situation if the cowardly repubs cannot and will not!! we have a majority, LET'S USE IT FOR ONCE, TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT!!

Let's be CONSTRUCTIVE not DESTRUCTIVE!

"...we have a majority"

A point that many don't seem willing to make. Over 90 democrats voted with republicans.

And, democrats, if they all voted together, could pass it without republican support.

So, democrats, jump on board and pass a bail out over republican objections. Go ahead.

In retrospect I believe that congress is just a waste of time along our tax revenue. Just a suggestion, but why not eliminate congress, vote for a President, Vice President, Secretary of state, Treasurer, Military Chief of Staff , and assistants for each. Then let the people vote on all issues pertaining to our government, and foreign affairs. Hell, Lets create polls on every issue we can think of, and let the people decide on laws and governing issues.

Really? Im afraid the majority of people are too stupid for that. The majority of people think that gas prices will go down tomorrow if we start drilling today. Most people in this country can't locate Mexico on the map and you want them to vote on foreign policy?

If pros and cons are opposites of each other, then congress is the opposite of progress. What a living example.
