Barney Frank Mocks GOP: "Because Somebody Hurt Their Feelings, They Decide To Punish The Country"

I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Barney Frank

So the Republicans are saying they lost the vote because Nancy Pelosi gave a speech that offended twelve of their members.

Well Barney Frank has an offer for them:

Give me those twelve people's names, and I will go talk uncharacteristically nicely to them, and tell them what wonderful people they are, and maybe they'll think about the country.

Here's video of the Republicans whining about Pelosi, and of Frank telling them to grow up:

So the Republicans are saying they lost the vote because Nancy Pelosi gave a speech that offended twelve of their members. Well Barney Frank has an offer for them: Give me those twelve people's name...

All Pelosi had to do was show a little bit of bipartisan class and instead she showed her A S S.

Do you mean like the bipartisan class afforded Democrats since 1994?

I think we should all get to hear all about the great success of the Neo-conservative revolution since 1994 and the ContracT on America. It's so inspiring.

Nope , she blew it. All she had to do was be an American for the day instead of a partisan w h o r e that she is.

Give me a break. The Republicans are getting exactly the same "classy" treatment they've been dishing out for 16 years. Pelosi just beat them at their own game and all they can do is cry about it while their party (rightly) takes the fall for wrecking the country.

Barney Frank is directly responsible for a lot of this mess, and he's out here strutting around like he's the Sheriff in town.

Really sickening.

Put Barney Frank under Oath and question him about Fannie Mae.

Whatever for? What don't we know already?

Are you telling me Barney was out there writing sub-prime paper?

BTW, the American people are overwhelmingly against the bailout.

Dems know this, too. That's why they didn't go ahead and pass the bill on their own.

Well DUH.

It was supposed to be BIpartisan, and repubs obviously reneged, hoping to pin the whole thing on dems with appropriate spin.

Thank goodness Nancy was smart enough to see that coming and ensure that repubs had to honor their word or the whole thing would blow.

and of course - since republicans NEVER honor anything including their word, they are rightfully getting the blame.

Are the Democrats who voted against the bill unpatriotic too?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:01 PM on 09/29/2008

No, just the Rs . . . were on HuffPost where we blame everything from a subprime crisis to a dog pooping on the lawn on Bush and the neocons.

True that. The head coach always takes the blame. It's all based on performance.

America hates losers like the Failure Monkey Republicans. as one writer put it: The Republicans have run the table of failure.

Imagine the market LOWER than it was the day you took office!

Most people would have said impossible.

George has now set standards never seen before in virtually every measurable catergory.

If everybody was going to vote for it than it wouldn't be a democracy. The majority rules. No need to call anybody unpatriotic.

The people are very much opposed to a bailout. Alot of Dems and Repubs are fearful of getting the boot come November.

To vote against this boondoggle is about as patriotic as you can get my very good friend. From either side of the aisle.

Note to Dem leadership:

Don't have 95 of your people vote no and then insult the others if you want more votes for your side.

Correct. This is a class war. The rich are stealing from the poor. This time, they want $700bn.

This bill may be necessary, but the WAY IT WORKS doesn't have to be this way. In fact, this bill is fundable through other taxes...Why not tax every stock trade, for instance?

There are better ways to do this. We have some smart people in Washington. Let's get the advice of the economists (who didn't CAUSE this problem) and then let the smartest congressmen among both parties find a way to solve this credit crisis by actually helping the people who have lost their mortgages...instead of the money-lenders.

Republicans, simply, do NOT have a sense of humor. Democrats do. From Jon Stewart to Tina Fey to Barney Frank, we now see that the way to stand up to these bullies is to point out how utterly ridiculous they are.

Yeah that is it! They don't like you ;-( They are not tagging their names on a failed plan (Reps). The plan that they all come up with should be voted on by the people of this country not the Gov. I am sick of the Gov. trying to make it better, NOTHING they do is on our interest. It is all about money. Follow the money trail!

The Democrat party has the majority in both houses of congress. How is this the fault of the Republicans?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:50 PM on 09/29/2008

The vote against the measure was 228 to 205, with 133 Republicans turning against President Bush to join 95 Democrats in opposition. The bill was backed by 140 Democrats and 65 Republicans.

Democratic - Yes (140), No (95)

Republican - Yes (65), No (133)

You go Barney. Call out those dopes who think this is a bailout of Wall Street fat cats paid for by Joe six pack. Wall Streeters have plenty of cash in the bank to ride this out. They've seen this coming for ages - do you think they were dumb enough to have all of their money in stocks???

Does Joe six pack living check to check have the same cushion to survive? That's what I thought....wait until Joe wants to lease a new truck he can't really afford. Sorry Joe, no more leasing - cash only. Or refinance his morgage that he really didn't understand on the Mc Mansion he really shouldn't have bought - not going to work because the mortgage is under water now - that happens when you don't put any money down. And the home equity loan he used to put in granite countertops and give his daughter a really expensive sweet 16 party like they show on the MTV - pay up Joe. The bill is due....Call your congressman who voted no today. I'm sure he will help.

There are two sides to every trade - while Wall Street acted as the bartender and was more than willing to overserve Joe six pack, it doesn't change the fact that Joe was right there at the bar asking for another shot. So when Joe crashes his car into the pedestrian on his way home drunk on debt it's only the bartender's fault???? Please.

John McCain is spewing out such insane comments I can't imagine how he ever came to be a presidential candidate. Are we to believe that we have members of congress that take offense when confronted by the truth as expressed by Nancy Pelosi. Are they so lacking in intelligence as to debate that Bush policies brought us to this mess. Ever since he came into office he has been bashing the middle classes with his tax cuts for the rich who never needed them, his insane invasion of iraq, his Plan D drug plan that sent prescription drugs spiraling out of control, etc.

What happened to the 2 trillion dollars Bill Clinton left in the US treasury? it was squandered as soon as Bush came into office. The Republican congress helped him do it.

This Wall Street bailout was needed to salvage credit in this country. All those folks who objected to it are in for a surprise when non-Wall Street companies begin to go under or just contract because there is no credit for them to function and no credit for their customers to buy from them. The original bill stunk, but there was progress.
