Barney Frank Mocks GOP: "Because Somebody Hurt Their Feelings, They Decide To Punish The Country"

Barney Frank

So the Republicans are saying they lost the vote because Nancy Pelosi gave a speech that offended twelve of their members.

Well Barney Frank has an offer for them:

Give me those twelve people's names, and I will go talk uncharacteristically nicely to them, and tell them what wonderful people they are, and maybe they'll think about the country.

Here's video of the Republicans whining about Pelosi, and of Frank telling them to grow up:

So the Republicans are saying they lost the vote because Nancy Pelosi gave a speech that offended twelve of their members. Well Barney Frank has an offer for them: Give me those twelve people's name...

dems have enough votes to have passed bill alone...they don't need republican votes. Why did 95 dems vote against the bill?

Lots of people had reasons to vote against the bill. Remember this was not introduced by the Democratic members, it came from the Administration. The criticism here is not towards those who voted against it but those who voted against it because they were insulted by Pelosi's speech. This is so RushHannity like.

without adequate Failure Party votes, they would have used it mercilessly to defeat Dems by lying about the INVESTMENT in mortgages.

-----------
This is not a bailout, it is an investment in OURSELVES.

Wouldn't YOU rather be paying your mortgage interest into the US Treasury which would help the country's debt than to give it to the greedy bankers?

THIS investment could turn out to be the BEST punishment for their greed!

The House GOP has decided that they would rather see the global economy collapse than let any Democrats get credit for bringing a solution to the floor. Pretty pathetic and petty...so much for "Country First".

In addition, McCain (through his people) grandstanded about how he brought everyone together and supported the final proposal, and it is his party that backed away at the last minute. What does that say about his leadership abilities--if he cannot rally his own party in a time of crisis to agree on a critical position that he claimed to support, how is he expected to bring the nation together after taking office?

dems could have done it all on their own...they have enough votes...maybe you should wonder why 95 dems voted against the bill

Do the Democrats have a majority in Congress, or do they not?

(Last time I checked, THEY DO! )

If the Demo leadership wants an important bill passed, the majority
is supposed to make it so. End of story. Blaming Repo assh*oles
- the minority - is not acceptable.

2/3rds of Democrats voted for the bill, 2/3rds of Republicans voted against it, and yet it's Democrats fault? grow up.

And which party operates the majority in the House of Reps, again?

This, of course, looks like yet another one of those deals where, off
in the cloak room, Reps of both parties figured out how they could
vote this 'turkey' down AND get the other party blamed for the loss.

What we get is (potentially) 'Total Financial Meltdown'. What they get
is 'bragging rights'.

I agree with you. But it's funny to even think of it as BLAMING them? Honorable reps should be PRAISING every single person in Congress who responded to the unprecedented outcry against this and decided maybe it's not such a good idea to RUSH in FEAR to give away 700 billion tax dollars.

The public has been calling Congress (and 99 out of 100 calling are against this). If there is another transfer of wealth from the empty treasury that the taxpayers are on the hook for, they need to act like leaders, look carefully at all options, and not be rash and hysterical about it.

Most in Congress are only experts in fundraising for their campaigns, and loopy laws--but not economics. There is no way they've had time to do their homework and make a sound decision on this.

It may not be acceptable to you,but it is a reality. This according to McCain was supposed to be a joint effort on something not popular with either party,A chance to show his ability with a bi-partisan effort in this necessary evil. The democrats did their part and the republicans are now a party in complete dissarray, with two-thirds of the party voting against their president and going against the wishes of their candidate.Neither party wanted to be completely responsible for this bill and their leadership agreed to only put forward enough votes to get the bills passed.

Independent voters (of which I am one, more so now) are not going
to find this outcome acceptable. Repos blaming Demos, Demos blaming
Repos. Many of these idiots had a hand in created the catastrophe in the
first place, of either party. Now, let them get together to fix it. The Demos,
with the majority, have a larger responsibility to act *responsibly*.

Likely outcome? Independent voters will be staying home Nov 4.

I hereby stipulate that the majority of the Repo minority are in that category.

I'm not at all sure if it's true about only a minority of the majority, however.

By how many votes, 3?

It's not easy to have a decisive, veto-proof majority under those conditions.

Easier, when some of the other side votes with you.

No need for a veto-proof majority this time, at least.

NO MORE YEARS for corrupt Republican SPOILED FRAT-BRATS.

It's mainly southerners who voted against the bali-out and it's mainly southerners who will be hit the hardest if there is no bail-out. Leave it to right-wing southerners to sabotage themselves.

Barney Frank should be the last person offering criticism to anybody. While there is plenty of blame to go around for the current mess we are in, if I were to name the top five people responsible he would be in there. It was Barney Frank who insisted that financial institutions need to grant mortgages to people who are not able to pay them back. It is also Barney Frank who as the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee should have blown the whistle two years ago and should have warned the public of what is going on.

It's DE-REGULATION stupid! No one forced banks to make bad decisions.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:00 PM on 09/29/2008

Not just de-regulation, GREED is the reason for most of the bad decisions; at banks, on Wall Street, and on Main Street where people bought more house/car/HDTV than they could afford.

A lot of people got hit by the housing downturn, but only because they thought they were going to strike it rich when they flipped that house before the interest ballooned.

I'm afraid GREED is too ingrained in our culture to ever really get out of this mess.

It's not that simple. Speaker Pelosi's remarks were partisan, and an attempt to sway public opinion during a truly frightening national crisis. Rep. Frank is witty as all get out, but he, too is a partisan, as are all politicians. But this is 9/11 time. This is Pearl Harbor time. Pull together.

A picture is worth a thousand words... even better yet a video. If you are truly interested in the truth and not YOUR side of reality at the expense of truth you owe it to yourself to watch this video. Truth hurts sometimes.... Lies can hurt even more when you believe them and follow those who sell them as facts.

When you see this video and see who is selling lies and who is telling the truth then you, if you are an honest person, will question anything coming out of the liars mouth in the future.

Good luck! Remember... have an open mind.

Paste this in your address and watch in its entirety to find out WHO is really to blame for this mess.
