UPDATE: Video of the Palin/Supreme Court exchange is available here.

Today, the Washington Post's Howard Kurtz reported on potentially embarrassing clips of Sarah Palin being interviewed by Katie Couric that haven't yet been aired. The Politico has more information on one in particular:

Of concern to McCain's campaign, however, is a remaining and still-undisclosed clip from Palin's interview with Couric last week that has the political world buzzing.

The Palin aide, after first noting how "infuriating" it was for CBS to purportedly leak word about the gaffe, revealed that it came in response to a question about Supreme Court decisions.

After noting Roe vs. Wade, Palin was apparently unable to discuss any major court cases.

There was no verbal fumbling with this particular question as there was with some others, the aide said, but rather silence.

I have just become a US citizen, I passed the US citizenship test.
I haven't been a citizen for more than 3 weeks:
row v wade
brown v board of education
I had to think, yes, but it came up--- I swear that I didn't look that up on the internet- in order to pass the US citizenship test you have to know that....

You've GOT TO READ this hilarious parody of McCain talking about Palin to Couric about "gotcha journalism" and about the DEBATE!

Love that good satire, I do.

GO AHEAD SARAH AND TRY TO GO AFTER BIDEN ON TAX ISSUES. AND LETS REMEMBER THAT THIS WEEK HAS BEEN THE FINAL VERDICT ON REAGONOMICS. TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMIC POLICIES THAT MCCAIN SUPPORTED FOR HIS ENTIRE CAREER HAVE JUST DIED ON WALL STREET. THE ECONOMIC POLICIES OF REAGAN AND BUSH WITH MCCAINS BLESSING ARE AN ACKNOWLEDGED FAILURE AROUND THE GLOBE.

Katie was giving Palin an "in" when you think about Palin's convention speech. Apparently Palin disagrees with the Miranda decision as evidenced in her convention speech when she asserted "Al Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America ... he's (Obama) worried that someone won't read them their rights? Government is too big ... he wants to grow it." Quite obviously, Palin was just reciting a speech written for her without any understanding of what she was talking about. Palin could have made big points with her "base" by responding that she does not agree with Miranda. She's soooo uninformed it is terrifying.

Actually her focus on Roe vs Wade let us know that she is a single issue candidate.

Actually there is SO much new stuff on Obama, but the media, with the exception of Fox News, isn't covering it. His ties with ACORN are so deep it's terrifying. And his apparent disassociation with Ayers is a complete falsehood. He led the board of the group Ayers founded, which also funneled money to ACORN. Everything about Obama is double-speak, needs clarifying, re-interpreting or is (purportedly) taken out of context by somebody. His judgment when determining the types of people he surrounds himself with (Rezko, Ayers, Wright, ACORN, etc.) is deplorable and the amount of money he accepted from Freddie Mac, while voting against McCain when he motioned to the floor that Freddie and Fannie need an overhaul, shows his lack of integrity and character. There is plenty of dirt on Obama, but the mainstream media is ignoring the obvious. Very sad state of the media, and of the general public who consumes it without questioning the authenticity of the information.

I'm surprised that Palin didn't at least remember some of the key civil-rights cases that conservatives are supposed to oppose. True, her charm for the Right is rooted in her so-called "pro-life" convictions, but - still - she's not going to be the most efficient energizer of the Republican base that she could possibly be unless she shows a little more quasi-sophisticated contempt for ethnic minorities and gays.

You miss the point. A candidate for the presidency or the VP should be expected to discuss basic issues and have some basic knowledge, show ability to think on their feet. You would think that a person who's picked to be a national candidate would be able to answer very basic questions.

When she was asked if she could think of any other decision besides Roe v Wade Palin said: “Well, I would think of any, again, that could be best dealt with on a more local level, maybe I would take issue with.” What does that mean? Even if you can wade through this gibberish, aren't Supreme Court rulings decisions that affect the entire nation? When Biden was asked the same question he was able to answer coherently about the right to privacy.

You see no problem putting someone on office with such little world knowledge? You see no problem with someone whose answers to fairly basic questions are excruciatingly incoherent? And you see no problem with electing someone who has promised to continue the policies that have so messed up this country?

And let me ask you, McCain keeps saying he has spent the last 8 years fighting wasteful spending and we now have a $412 billion dollar deficit down from a $220 million surplus. He said he was going to Washington last week to get a deal done and it failed. Is he inept, ineffectual or just says anything to get elected. Much like Bush did.

I would rather Palin be President.

we got the surplus by gutting the military

we don't need the bail out!!!!! I think Palin would oppose it!!!

biden is a lawyer- WHAT DO YOU EXPECT???!!! but what of his gaffs?!!

How many supreme court cases can you think of?

WHAT'S A BOARD FOOT?????

Sen. McCain is NOT a rich man. It has been obvious over the last 4-5 years he has mortgaged his soul to gain respect within his party culminating with his nomination of Republican Presidential Nominee. I feel bad for John. I think he would be a lot happier if he just retired at the GOVERNMENTS recommended age of 65-66.

Riddle me this: WHY is there a floor (35 years of age to run for president) and not a ceiling (65-66 like all other men and women who have jobs in the American Workforce)?????

35 minimum age for the office of Presidency
_______________________________

66 maximum age for the office of Presidency
