I Like ItI Don’t Like It

[Via Crooks and Liars] How did things go for John McCain last week? Lindsey Graham, who usually flacks McCain with a psychopathic, operatic zeal, got to a point Sunday morning on Fox News where he just sort of ... gave up. When it came time to respond to public support of Senator Barack Obama after the debate at Ole Miss, Graham at first attempted to pull out some good news from the polling data. But he quickly folded under minimal pressure from Chris Wallace, confessing finally that he was "tired" and concluding, "Senator Obama did well. Senator Obama helped himself."

[WATCH.]

WALLACE: McCain's rating on being prepared to be president didn't change. Obama had a 16-point jump on that same question. Senator Graham, McCain keeps saying Obama is not ready to lead, but according to several polls, voters watching the debate thought he was.

GRAHAM: I think there's an 18-point difference between who is best able to do the job. We'll take that.

KERRY: Well, let me --

WALLACE: What you're saying is even though Obama got more of a bump --

GRAHAM: It's Sunday, I'm tired. Senator Obama did well. Senator Obama helped himself.

WALLACE: You can't be tired on Sunday morning, sir.

GRAHAM: Quite frankly, I thought he presented himself well, Senator Obama.

I'm tired of Lindsey Graham and Bush 43 and GOP spinmeisters and McCain and ... okay, Palin's still fun to watch but I'm slowly growing weary of her stupidity. After Thursday, I'm sure Graham will be back spinning like a top and Sarah ... well ... she'll be planning a wedding distraction to end all distractions before the election. Wonder if Bush will let Bristol use the White House lawn for her nuptials and ... hey, maybe a keg party? (Hope not.)

You are right...and I really love your comment on Palin being fun to watch. Can't have a kegger b/c all of the bride'/grooms friends are too young to drink and isn't it a sin to drink according to Sarah's religion?

Fornication is a sin in Caribou Barbie's Church, but that doesn't seem to matter anymore.

Maybe The Reverend WitchDoctor Muthee may have gotten the Palin Klan a Dispensation (kinda like a Pardon from God).

McCain's erratic, irresponsible and unstatesman like conduct has flustered and exhausted many of his supporters, who seeming unwilling to give the McCain campaign the spin it seeks. Also I think you will begin to see the rhetoric toned down from established politico's who want to have the opportunity to work with an Obama Administration. The only ones who will lash out are those being paid to do so. Why go down with a sinking ship?

Apparently Graham didn't know that he could "phone it in too."

See this from DailyKos:

How out of touch is John McCain with his own campaign? Today during a speech in Columbus, Ohio, Mcain was still peddling the fiction that he had "suspended" his campaign last week, saying:

You know, remarkably, some people have criticized my decision, but I will never, ever be a president who sits on the sidelines when this country faces a crisis. I know that many of you may have noticed, but it's not my style to simply "phone it in."

Except he did phone it in.

John McCain is staying in Washington this weekend to keep working on the bailout legislation. He will not be visiting Capital Hill, however, preferring to work out of his campaign office.

"He can effectively do what he needs to do by phone,'' said senior adviser Mark Salter.

What he means to say is McCain presented himself poorly and there's no defense for it even from one of McCain's toadies.

Poor Linsey! Constantly defending the indefensible is so ennervating. He just can't keep trying to clean out the Sysyphian stables any longer. He should just take a rest.

After having run on empty for the last few years, the Right-wing seems to have run out of gasoline
and is in the process of coming to a grinding halt. Being devoid of any new ideas, the rich white man's Party can't handle the fact that the Obama/Biden ticket has a lot of fight left in it and that any productive thought in the Federal Government is not coming from their side of the isle. If things continue for the
next 5 weeks as they have of late, a Democratic landslide, this Fall, is in the offing.

Senator Graham has been snoozing for years. As a former JAG Officer, he failed miserably by not shouting from the rooftops that torturing prisoners was illegal.

He fell right in bed with Attorney General Ashcroft and his successor Gonzales. This pair of AGs were worse than the Nixon AG, John Mitchell, who served prison time for non-violent or deadly crimes.

Grahams silence on the torture issue is sinful, in my opinion. I also believe he knows it but was afraid of Bush-Cheney and his political career.

I'd be tired of supporting and stumping for mcWarnow to after last week, trying to spin all that crap into a positive without seeming delusional...At some point you have to let people go and harm themselfe in order for you not to be dragged down along with them...

Perhaps these types of segments end up being better indicators than polls. Graham has been RABID in his support of McCain. Sometimes I wondered if McCain was Graham's son as much as he wants McCain to win. Brad Blakeman is another one of those "strategists" that Dan Abrams used to have on his show and Brad would always say that EVERYDAY, no matter what, McCain won the day. There's also Joe Watkins, another one of those "strategists" who also shows up a lot on MSNBC. These guys have been so much more subdued in the week and seem to be a potential barometer for McCain's potential success. Kristol just recently came out and indicated that he though McCain's chances were waning. Just about all that's left is for Lieberman to come out and say something similar and that would be a true sign.

It's kind of like watching the defensive players in a football game. If they still believe that they have the momentum or a fighting chance in a game, they almost never have their hands on their hips. If momentum shifts, the physical tiredness becomes attitude tiredness and that often is displayed in the hands-on hips activity.
