MSNBC:

The McCain campaign seizes on Biden's ropeline flub that the Democratic ticket does not support "clean" coal in new radio ads released in targeted battleground states -- Colorado, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

It uses Biden's YouTube moment saying that he's not supporting clean coal to rile up voters.

Obama's energy plan specifically mentions "clean coal" -- "Develop and Deploy Clean Coal Technology" -- as a way to "Create Millions of New Green Jobs."

Can We Bury Global Warming? http://www.climate-change.ir/en/CO2%20Capture%20and%20Storage.pdf

Carbon capture and storage technology, if applied to carbonized biomass (charcoal), can actually start scrubbing the air of CO2. Quoting from the above link: ".....But biomass power can do better: if carbon capture equipment were added to these facilities and the harvested biomass vegetation were replanted, the net result would be to scrub the air of CO2...."

There is enough agricultural and forest waste available in the U.S. to replace much of the coal we now burn: http://www.ahc.caf.wvu.edu/lit/billion_ton_vision.pdf

Carbon dioxide, instead of being compressed and deep injected, can also be sequestered as a carbonate, which mimics the current natural process the earth uses to sequester CO2: http://sequestration.mit.edu/pdf/carbonates.pdf

If we just stop producing CO2, by switching massively to solar and wind power, I don't think myself that this will be sufficient to stop runaway global warming: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2005/aug/11/science.climatechange1

I don't think McCain, an old guy with crippled arms, would "hit" Obama. He does point out that it is crazy to hamper America's energy.

One notes that Biden disapproved of clean coal while Obama claimed to have approved. It is all so confusing, what with two people on each ticket and neither quite exactly saying the same things.

Sort of like husband and wife disagreeing over minor parts of a story about what happened on vacation.

Sure, it was an obvious gaffe by Biden, but will the public see it as anything beyond that, much less a reason to change their vote.

This seems like a huge waste of ad time.

Indeed! Almost as much a waste of time as all the nitpicking about insignificant mis-speaks by Palin and other candidates.
