Weeks after John McCain mocked Barack Obama for raising money in Hollywood "with his celebrity friends," the Arizona Senator is slated to join his wife for a fundraiser on Los Angeles' Avenue of the Stars this Wednesday.

The McCain-Palin Victory California Leadership team is sponsoring the October 1 event at the Century Plaza Hyatt Regency in L.A. Supporters who bundle at least $250,000 receive entrance to a host committee dinner and private reception; others can attend the general reception for $1,000 per person (or $2,500 per person for a limited edition "McCain-Palin CA" lapel pin).

The event comes two weeks after McCain chided Obama for fundraising in southern California. "He talked about siding with the people just before he flew off for a fundraiser in Hollywood with Barbra Streisand and his celebrity friends," McCain told a crowd in Ohio. "Let me tell you, my friends, there's no place I'd rather be than right here with the working men and women of Ohio."

All told, the McCain event could be incredibly lucrative for the Senator's Victory Committee (his own campaign is currently operating off of public funds). No word yet who is attending - but don't expect Streisand to be on the list.

In other words, Obama is the only one allowed to fund raise in L.A.

That was a good dig McCain got in on Obama, BTW. It's called politics. When Obama does it, he's the Greatest Man Ever.

"No word yet who is attending"

Got your tar and feathers ready, I see.

No, idiot. All politicians do fundraising, which is why there was nothing wrong with Obama having one in Hollywood. The only reason this is news is because McCain thought that Obama holding a fundraiser in Hollywood was an act worthy of criticism and did so openly in the media. So then why did he do exactly what he criticized Obama for doing? That's why it's news. Pay attention next time.

Some people just do not seem to get it...this is just like the "elitist" comment. It was never an issue until the McCain camp made it one. Of course the McCains can live where they want and drive as many cars as they want...if they earned it, they should be able to spend it how they see fit. But, the same holds true for the Obamas. The McCain camp is the one that wants to make these inane comments and then cry foul when they get turned back on them.

The first thing that will come out his mouth is I can do it because Obama did...Ironically though he held one first with his pal Jon Voight earlier in the year long before Obama....This guy talks out both side of his and Palin's faces.

Not news, just the same old redundant tale of McCain's flip-flopping hypocrisy and willingness to do or say anything if he thinks it will get him a few votes or campaign dollars. He wants the job too much to be trusted with it! And his idiotic choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate is an affront to the intelligence and critical thinking ability of any voter who earned credit in a junior high school civics class!

The Pledge of Allegiance - if it was good enough for the Founding Fathers, it's good enough for SP.

Isn't McCain's campaign suspended while he's saving the economy? Perhaps this fundraiser is going to raise the money the by which McCain will use to save the economy.

There is a big difference between $2,500 and $28,500 and the addtional $2,000 if you heard Babs sing. Each area of the country can support fundraisers, it is just that the Obama one was almost imperial. Only the highest level of wealth could attend his. McCains at $2,500 is doable by a lot more people.

Oh Please! It wasn't about the amount it was about the location an the 'celebrities' that were attending.

Lynn Forester de Rothschild is holding a $28,500 a person fund raiser for McCain next week. He met with her right after he announced that his campaign was suspended to assist in planning the event.

Why buy a lapel pin that will be outdated in - what? - a few weeks? Maybe less time than that, if they decide to throw Palin off the bus.
