I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Gawker, Marc Ambinder and our own Rachel Sklar note that the New Yorker is poking some fun at Sarah Palin for her rather dubious claim that Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience. Scroll down for a full size image of the cover.

LOL....sure! If it works sarah should work for every citizen.

But seriously, not only does Ms Palin lack in geography and foriegn diplomacy, she seems just like bush. She does not seem to have no natural curiosity, a total lack of wanting to know anything unless it is absolutely slapping her in the face.

Danger! The more she gets beat up on, the more of a sympathy vote she'll get.

This is exactly the mistake many Democrats are making. Turn down the rhetoric and McCain/Palin ticket will sink into oblivion.

McSame is cranking up the attack ads on Obama. Will that put Obama over the top?

I respectfully disagree. It was being polite and reserved that lost us the last 2 elections [well along with what was likely systematic election fraud].

I don't like fighting and I will extend my hand "across the isle" but if someone slaps my hand away and goes for my throat, then I will put them down like the dog they are. Obama should do the same and so should every other red blooded patriot.

The #2 choice for leader of the free world doesn't deserve sympathy. She deserves scrutiny. You don't put somoene in the White House because you feel sorry for her. You put her in because she can lead.

By the way - where was Obama's sympathy vote when he and his wife got the cover of the New Yorker not too long ago?

A Great Shower Curtain?

I've been subscribing to the New Yorker, off and on, for years. I kept a cover that was a cartoon map of the United States from a New Yorker's perspective. It is in a box in an attic. It is torn here and there. Well it turned out the cover was very popular indeed. It became the basis for a shower curtain and was sold by the New Yorker for years. It still may be. Grey Huffpos may remember this cover.

Looks like I have another keeper coming in the mail. A "Palin's Perspective" shower curtain?

Remember Canada is her neighbor, too. That makes lots of foreign policy experience.

I think she's made that arguement too. That she's beside the Yukon and not, like Detroit, next to a big city with an actual volume of trade doesn't come into her mind.

Her "neighbor" to the east has only about 30,000 citizen and it is not even a province, it is a territory. Yukon is to Canada as Guam is the the USA.

This is hardly foreign experience. Invading foreign air space while running down wolfs with your airplane is hardly germane to the job.

As a long-time New Yorker reader (and Obama supporter) I found the Obama cover more in line with the magazine's ultra-ironic (what many dolts consider 'elite') recent tradition.

Insulting Palin's (and her supporters') lack of acumen or intellect is fish in a barrel.

Also: Payback is a Bi-atch.

The Obama cover was a mash up of all the incendiary and untrue myths and lies that have been told about Obama. This, on the other hand is a caim so ridiculous, made even more ridiculous by the fact that they have repeated it and are actually serious when they say this counts as experience.

For a nation that is apparently crying out for change. Obama & Biden should be greatly outperforming McCain & Palin; but they are not. The Democratic party doesn't know how to deal with this & therefore resorts to ageism (McCain) & sexism (Palin).

You know what, this whole reactionary 'sexism' thing is the most tired argument ever. I for one feel that America would be expressing the ultimate argument in support of feminism by sending this woman back to Alaska. Why is not OK for me to think that Ms. Palin is a slow-witted neo-con tool just because she is a woman?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:57 AM on 09/30/2008

I am a women and I think she is dumb as all outdoors. We should she her back to Alaska. Does that make me sexist no it makes me smarter the Mc same and her.

Eagle-eye Palin can see quite a bit very well with her backing from the repugs. If repugs are able to explain away Palin's foreign affairs experience because she can "see" Russia from her house or that a response to a question from her audience is really "gotcha" journalism, then Palin will be brilliant by repug reckoning at the debate.

So far this week, there is well-deserved MSM nastiness about Palin's likely performance at the Thursday debate which sets the bar very low for her debate performance. Oddly enough, I am quite concerned about Biden's performance because the man has a way of veering off message to the greater good of his opponent. Biden may aid Palin in looking mighty good.

[excuse me while I go hurl]
