I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Gawker, Marc Ambinder and our own Rachel Sklar note that the New Yorker is poking some fun at Sarah Palin for her rather dubious claim that Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience. Scroll down for a full size image of the cover.

Wait a minute, why is the New Yorker only using one piece of satire? The Obama's got blasted with every slur there was -- the artwork is spot on, but it needs to have some poor animal being hunted or something. (Not that I'm okay with that) I just think they missed the marked on all the gaffes that have happened to Palin. The Bridge to nowhere her husband office visits, the caribou etc.

yeah this piece is a bit one dimensional but I think the editors were a bit shy after the peanut gallery was in an uproar over the Obama piece- which I believe was absolutely brilliant and daring. Unfortunately the tame nature of this cover may have been a response to the public's intolerance of heavy handed, no holds bar satire...

the idiots win again

oh ok it was the uproar over a full tilt boogie burn of the black candidate but Sarah gets the soft soap as a mea culpa, please! And you believe that? ha, I have a bill to get your approval on.

The differnce between the two is one is a series of myths and they needed the full list. The other is a quote, i.e not a myth. Graphically it is also far better keeping it simple, this is brilliant and iconic. It is also great timing along with SNL and CNN, see this one: its devastating to Palin.

Yeah, instead of binocs, give her a g.un, sighting on a caribou walking out along a bridge that ends in midair with an oil derrick next to it pumping away (and Ruissia still in the distance, of course....)

The scary part is, Palin would run for the Presidency on her own, if she thought she could the Republican parties backing. She has no sense of her own limitations. She's either a con-artist or a total brainless idiot.

I've just finished reading every comment on this thread, and it is filled with sarcastic, mean, heartless, rude, blunt and brutal criticism of Sarah Palin, even to the point of brutality. You're gonna love it. : )

Any time I start to feel sorry for her I remember her mocking Senator Obama in her convention speech. The cheekiness of it - coming from a newcomer after he's been working his socks off for 19 months - was outrageous. The dummy deserves whatever ridicule she gets.

Any time I start to feel sorry for her, I just remember the pregnant teens, the special needs programs, the poor tax payers of Wasilla, all of the people that she has fired, the money that we subsidize for a state with a 35 Billion dollar Permanent oil Fund, the poor Palin kids who have been hung out to dry by their mother who loves the spotlight so much that she didn't care that the Enquirer would crucify them -- and the list just goes on. She thinks she has a monopoly on Christianity, and in my opinion, she is really just using the conservative Christians for votes - just like all the neo-cons do.

She has no aptitude for governance, and she and Bush and Mac are now the Mac/Pinnochio Tripletts - beholden only to their Breed more Greed counterparts.

I will save my pitty for her until after she is no longer a threat to our country, our constitution, our economy and the free world.

I heard some woman on Rachel Maddow's show tonight talking about how she's starting to get a twinge of feeling bad for Palin.

I say screw that. Palin is the epitome of cynical Republican politics. McCain is exposed by Palin, and so is the Republican party. Let them twist in the wind.

OK where are the three legged wounded wolves, the carved Caribou, the kids like everywhere, the bridge to nowhere the pipeline to notime soon, the hubby off in the hills on the snowmobile, the picture of Sen. Stevens. This is what you get when you have a conservative try to claim he did the same to the dems as the repubs.

but i like where they stopped.
instead of infusing it with innuendo, they left all of alaska with just blankness and mountain ranges.

kind of like how i see her mind.....

she is a backwoods barbiedoll.

and i do not think that now is the time for all backwoods barbiedolls to come to the aid of their country.

If You were The Boss... which team would you hire?

With America facing historic debt, multiple war fronts,
stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high
prison population, skyrocketing Federal spending, mortgage
crises, bank foreclosures, etc. etc., this is an unusually
critical election year.

Let''s look at the educational background of the
candidates and see what they bring to the job:

Obama:
Occidental College - Two years.
Columbia University - B.A. political science with a
specialization in international relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna *** Laude

Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in history and B.A. in
political science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)

vs.

McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 out of 899
(meaning that, like George Bush, McCain was at the bottom of
his class)

Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism

Now, which team are you going to hire to lead the most
influential nation in the world? Obama of course.

No one mentions Obama's Columbia degree and his specialization in international relations. This background alone gives him a measure of foreign policy experience. Granted, it's not like being former ambassador to the U.N. but Columbia is a top school in this field. Why is this not mentioned more often?

After I saw the clip of Michelle O dancing on the Ellen show, my mind was made up. Oh, and I heard her speak. He's got to be pretty smart to be able to attract a woman like that.

O power to the fourth!
