I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Gawker, Marc Ambinder and our own Rachel Sklar note that the New Yorker is poking some fun at Sarah Palin for her rather dubious claim that Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience. Scroll down for a full size image of the cover.

Why, Mr. Putin, what big hard muscles you have... (giggle) you ARE the whole package. The next time you're near Alaska you should pop over for a slice of...(giggle) Baked Alaska.

Remember when the right wing echo machine exploded over Gore's quote, that he took the initiatve in creating the internet?

He spoke in the context of him authoring legislation to fund the research and development of the technology, but the Republican spin cycle didn't care and would gladly lie about it to great effect.

To this day, people still believe Gore claimed to invent the internet.

Palin is roundly mocked for saying she has foreign affairs experience because Russia is so close to Alaska. But you need not twist her words to get there, and she's happy to reiterate it, practically verbatim.

Still, it has that same humiliating feel, but it must feel different to Republican who know she really said it, compared to Democrats who knew Gore never claimed to invent the internet.

The same issue of the New Yorker has a brief article by Hertzberg describing McCain's choice of Palin as follows:

"For a seventy-two-year-old cancer survivor to have placed this person directly behind himself in line for the Presidency was an act of almost incomprehensible cynicism and irresponsibility."

Great quote, and great cover.

Oh and I really liked their Obama/Michelle cover too. Thought it was ironic satire, and very effective.

Palin's a good example of one of the sentences in the Republican mission statement: If the people are too stupid not notice how we're pulling the wool over their eyes, they get what they deserve. This is In keeping with the neocon's survival of the fittest motto. if they continue their attack on the vulnerable it will be every man for himself as they take their millions and billions of dollars to a world they are probably developing right now as we scrape together our scraps to pay bills.

I think the repub mission statement is closer to being "by the time the American people find out how criminal and corrupt we really are, it will be too late for them to do anything about it."

Johnny Mac and his pitbull are trying to steal the WH based on that mission, just like Bush did.

LOL great line. Maybe the RNC will throw her to the "wolves" literally and she'll serve jail time for Troopergate or her ethics violation of publicly supporting a mining bill on TV. Tasty!!!!

That was a sign from the ANTI PALIN RALLY held in Alaska over the weekend.
Go to www.Mudflats.net to see the whole rally.

That was a sign made by an Alaskan protesting Palin's troopergate silence and McCain's takeover of AK government. About 1500 Alaskans protested in Anchorage, all with really creative homemade signs. This one was one of the best.

McCain has nowhere to go now but down. He can run away from President Bush, but he can't run away from the Republican Party. The Republicans will be regarded from now on as "the party that wrecked America." Over the weeks ahead, as carnage in the economy and the financial markets ramps up, it will become increasingly clear. It is important that this meme be spread through the internet. I urge all commentators to adopt and spread the idea that the Republicans are "the party that wrecked America." It will work because it is the truth. Use it freely. Just spread the word.

He can rely on the "intelligence" of the American voter.

And based on history, that means he still has a fighting shot.

Anyways - you should know that Republicans are only responsible for their imagined accomplishments. Failures are always someone else' fault.

I'll bet Sister Sarah doesn't even have a clue about who Seward was. Non-Biblical history is not her specialty.

Wasn't Seward a star in Ziegfeld Follies? LOL

I doubt if she actually knows The Bible at all. The head of her church has ranted about Jesus being in 'War Mode". Um, when last I checked, Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace, no matter what the MoneyChangers, Charlatans and Heretics that corrupt and pervert the tenants of Christianity say.
