Sarah Palin Nude Portrait At Chicago Dive Bar

A Chicago dive bar renowned for gaudy paintings of its regulars is luring visitors with the latest addition to the collection: A nude portrait of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

The four-foot-tall oil painting depicts the current governor of Alaska standing atop a polar bear-skin rug in her living room, nude, except for a pair of red stiletto heels and her trademark eyeglasses. In the picture she leans on an automatic rifle while beaming a megawatt smile. Behind her, a window looks out onto a pristine Alaska landscape, complete with a moose that has just ambled into the frame.

The painter, Old Town Ale House co-owner Bruce Elliott, said the idea came to him while watching his daughter, Grace, do a dead-on Palin impersonation. Grace subsequently served as the body model for the painting.

"I don't see how [Palin] could be offended by this," Elliot told the Windy Citizen. "I made her into a sex figure."

I doubt she was nude, in the old days it was illegal to paint nude women models, so artists used male models, that is why old time portraits looked so disfigured, because the artist had to use his imagination.

I agree, this is just damn strange. Set aside the close resemblance to Peggy Hill, this gun toting animation doesn't really look much like Sarah Palin at all. The nipples don't even look real.
As if that wasn't wierd enough, the whole daughter as a model thing makes me thing this guy is related to Dubya.

It is surprising the number of folks that did not understand that Bruce took the inspiration of the painting of the Nude Palin from his daughters antics behind the bar. He did NOT have her pose for the painting. I know Bruce and his family personally and they are terrific people with a great sense of humor. Bruce is an established artist in Chicagoland and quite well respected. The Old Town Ale House is home to many of Bruce's paintings of real people that never posed for his work. Bruce is able to capture the spirit of people without them posing. If you are in the area, take a trip to Old Town Ale House which is right across the street from Second City and see the paintings for yourself.

By reporting on this tacky, classless, sexist, ludicrous story and plugging it on the very top of HuffPo, you are adopting those characteristics. I see this as a satirical spoof not worse or better than the New Yorker Obama art.

The painting is similar to one you might see above the bar in a 1860s/1890s setting.

This would be fitting decor for displaying that portrait of Red-headed Lil in Alaska's Red Dog Saloon...
