South Carolina Mayor ''Just Curious'' If Obama Is The Antichrist

Fort Hill, SC Mayor Danny Funderburk said he forwarded a chain email suggesting Barack Obama is the antichrist because he was "just curious" if it was true:

I was just curious if there was any validity to it," Funderburk said in a telephone interview. "I was trying to get documentation if there was any scripture to back it up."

The e-mail, which has circulated in the last six months, claims the biblical book of Revelation says the antichrist will be in his 40s and of Muslim ancestry. The Charlotte Observer reports, "There is no such scripture. And Obama is not a Muslim. But that hasn't stopped the e-mail." In March, CNN's Glenn Beck wondered aloud "Is Obama the antichrist?"

This has happened before.

ONCE UPON A TIME: A people elected a leader because they thought they could win with him. He seemed more powerful than he was because of new technologies. The microphone, radio and film made his voice seem more powerful than he was. Today there are new technologies that are influencing this election to propel an unprepared and untested candidate to the world stage in much the same way. These new technologies of the internet, 24 hour media sources, and the entertainment/advertising industries have intersected with our culture to create this moment in time.

Doesn't matter what scripture says or doesn't. It's a work of fiction, fantasy, mythology. Religion is delusion, the problem is the delusionists get to vote and seem to wield considerable political influence. unbelievable and pathetic!!!

Again, not to belabor this point (but I'm going to anyway) the book of revelations was written hundreds of years before Islam came into being. Let's say that revelations was written around 50 C.E. That would put it 450 years minimum before the inception of Islam. The Prophet wasn't even born until after 500 C.E.

This, folks, is why history is so important to learn. It keeps us from getting hoodwinked by idiots who want to re-write reality.

That won't stop them. All they'll say is that the rise of Islam is prophesied in Revelations. Almost any passage in Revelations will do, with a good enough imagination.

Often people here deride those of one party as having closed minds.

Here we have a member of that party who holds an important office (no doubt his city is even bigger than Wasila) and he apparently has a very inquiring mind.

If I remember my Bible correctly, the AntiChrist is supposed to come pretending to be Christ to mislead the people.

An insight that perhaps many so-called Christians should reflect on carefully.

To be a Christian is to reflect those ideas, behaviors, the sacrificial, self-giving love for all others of the person of Jesus the Christ. Jesus said that others will know that a person is his disciple by the love they show: His love. Read the Gospels if you want to know more of the lifestyle Jesus embodied.

Here's an interesting fact, by the way. In Roman Numerals, 666 is DCLXVI, that is 500 + 100 + 50 + 10 + 5 + 1. This number is constructed by adding every Roman Numeral from 1 through 500 backwards.
