AP Reported this morning on the damage the failed bailout bill has done to John McCain's campaign:
Republican John McCain has maneuvered himself into a political dead end and has five weeks to find his way out.

Last Wednesday, McCain suspended his presidential campaign to insert himself into a $700 billion effort to rescue America's crumbling financial structure. In so doing, he tied himself far more tightly to the bill than did his Democratic opponent, Barack Obama.

This is a genius move by the O campaign for several reasons.

1. You can't ask for better timing considering the whole bailout saga over the couple weeks. It also keeps the economy front and center, which is McCain's nightmare right now.

2. The McCain camp thought that they would change the headlines by going on the offensive and questioning Obama's character. This was sure to dominate the headlines and put Obama on the defensive, which no one can afford in a presidential race. In dropping the Keating Napalm b.omb, McCain will get his wish and change the headlines but unfortunately for him, the spotlight will be placed on his wrinkly face as he will spend the upcoming weeks defending himself.

3. Everyone including the news media is sick and tired of covering the Rev. W.right, and A.yers accusations but this Keating 5 scandal is fresh to the general public and the news media are just d.ying to inform the American people and have something to talk about.

This is political genius. The McSame campaign is playing checkers while the Obama campaign is playing chess.....CHECKMATE!!!

Has no one noticed McCain's jumping on the phrase "spread the wealth around"? He is using this phrase like it is a bad idea! Spread the wealth is good for everyone! even the rich! for sure it is good for small business owners, because "spread the wealth" means MORE people have MORE money to spend on MORE goods! What is wrong with the media for not picking up on this?

A strange thought entered my head just now...is it conceivable that John McCain is intentionally throwing this election to submarine the Republicans whom destroyed him in 2000? Could this be payback? I wonder...

The truth on when this all started.

The New York Times (September 30, 1999)
FANNIE MAE EASES CREDIT TO AID MORTGAGE LENDING
by Steven A. Holmes

"...Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits."

"...In moving, even tentatively, into this new area of lending, Fannie Mae is taking on significantly more risk, which may not pose any difficulties during flush economic times. But the government-subsidized corporation may run into trouble in an economic downturn, prompting a government rescue similar to that of the savings and loan industry in the 1980's."

So now we know the truth.

Obama votes YES on the pork laiden old Washington politics style "bailout" bill
Obama is a traitor for voting YES and so is John McCain for voting YES

Change that stinks...say NO to BO

Say NO to McCain. He'll just cause this country more pain

What this country needs is have a "legitimate" 3rd party who has a real candidate
instead of the absolute joke of a candidate they always come up with - we've had enough of the 2 party only monopoly on elections

Get rid of anyone in Congress who votes Yes on this Wall Street Bailout bill that is now almost 500 pages and 90% pork BS and doesn't do enough for the average American

Get rid of all Washington Elitists ....starting1st with The Wicked witch of the west...Nancy Pelosi, then Herman Munster Mr Robot John McCain, and that 2-faced snake who can lie better than Clinton or Bush...Barack Obama

If they really needed 700 bil, there's an easy way for them to get it:

All Congress would have to do to is collect on all the taxes American traitors who hide their money in offshore bank accounts (to avoid paying taxes) already owe us. Congress would merely have to vote to FUND the IRS and ENSURE the IRS has the MANPOWER, FUNDING and AUTHORITY to collect the hundreds of billions (maybe more) owed by criminals who put their money in offshore bank accounts to avoid paying taxes like the rest of us.

Many of the same criminals who want more of our tax money to bail them out of the mess they created, leech off the middle class every day, whose taxes pay for funding everything (the war, the infrastructure, the schools, social security checks, the healthcare of undocumented workers, etc. )

Many in Congress pretend to care, but deliver no results. So it should be obvious that if Congress had ever intended to look out for main street, they would have done something before this "crisis" occurred. They knew what was going on and they knew they'd bailout the few at the expense of the many.

The fact that Obama and McCain both voted for this says it all. We need new people in Congress and government.

Ever notice how Red States are always the states with the:
1) lowest standards of living
2) lowest SAT scores
3) highest illiteracy rates
4) highest infant mortality rates
5) highest rates of violence
6) highest number of Christian fundamentalists

They clearly reflect the worst in America ,and the sad thing is thaat progress eludes them as they are hopelessly (yet proudly) stuck in 19th century conservatism.

It never fails to surprise me. Your 700 billion went up to over 810 billion with the pork
that was added to it. I can't believe the politicians who added to this bill and would like
to know who added what and fight to get them out of office. With the money they have
wasted on pork barrel projects to good bills we could pay for medical insurance for everyone in
this country. If you want to get upset why don''t you get upset about that or about a million dollars
for a museum for woodstock instead of health care for children. If you would go on and look
at the bills that have been passed and check to see who is adding the most pork and get rid of
anyone adding any, let there pork ride alone on a bill.

I definitely agree McCain's got his work cut out for him, but I think this blog helps better explain McCain's stance on the financial crisis: http://www.therelevantelephant.com/blog/entry/bill_clintons_conservative_ideology

You've GOT TO READ this hilarious parody of McCain talking about Palin to Couric about "gotcha journalism" and about the DEBATE!

Love that good satire, I do.
