AP Reported this morning on the damage the failed bailout bill has done to John McCain's campaign:
Republican John McCain has maneuvered himself into a political dead end and has five weeks to find his way out.

Last Wednesday, McCain suspended his presidential campaign to insert himself into a $700 billion effort to rescue America's crumbling financial structure. In so doing, he tied himself far more tightly to the bill than did his Democratic opponent, Barack Obama.

See below for the "Real Time Electoral Vote Predictor" that shows how badly the recent economic news is affecting John McCain's campaign. Click here to link to the map and the electoral vote predictor.

As the rest of the week goes by...and if Wall Street doesn't crash...and life as we know it goes on...doesn't the argument for the desperate need to give the financial crooks $700 billion become a bit weaker?

Maybe a stalemated Congress is a blessing in this case.

WELL THEN,,, Lies catch up with you don't they now! I want you to look We, the People in the eye, not in the TV tube, and tell all of us how truly SORRY you are for disrespecting yourself, your country and the world! There are leaders of the World, you must look in the eye...The Truth will one day set you free.

There are a lot of alternatives to this bill and Congress isn't listening to ANY of them.

They are doing their job at all. What they are doing isn't in the best interests of the American people, but rather what is in the best interest of Wall Street and this administration.

They keep saying on TV that THIS bill needs to be passed. No, it doesn't. What needs to be passed is a bill that actually does what this bill is purported to do, but doesn't actually do.

Scrap this one and write a new one that Americans can get behind and then pass it in the House regardless of what the Repubs want.

OK, now they are saying that the taxpayer isn't going to be on the hook for anything and they might actually make money. So what changed between yesterday and today?

Nothing, just more spin to try and sell this load of c r a p to the American people.

Wake up people, when this administration is trying to sell something this hard, you know we, the taxpayer, are going to get scr ewed without even benefit of a reach around.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:44 PM on 09/30/2008

True. Doesn't have to be this bill. They have time now to sit down and put something sensible together.

The only problem is that Republicans don't do sensible. Even though Bush has been on his knees begging all week, he'll still veto a sensible bill.

Look for more shake-ups in the Southeast. Those people are so really ticked off because of gasoline shortages. I think they'll blame republicans for the shortages and price gouging.

Two of my brothers live in Charlotte, NC.

One ran out of gas while looking for a station that was open, the other waited in line for over 2 hours to buy gas. Their friend waited in line for almost 3 hours, and when he was the fourth one in line the station ran out of gas.

It is unbelievable.

Yes. I am in TN & we just got gas back last week after a horrible shortage from Gustav. We couldn't get gas anywhere. It was rough. I saw many Obama energy commercials during that time. I really think that may have helped him here.

Maybe it's just an ego thing.

Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric have been slammed as lightweights this election as others have gained fans and ratings for going after McCaon and Palin.

This was their chance to shop they were smarter than Sarah Palin, not dumb enough to accept her BS.

WHo wants to be criticized as being more dimwitted than Palin?

It really seems a matter of survival, otherwise they'd lose all remaining credibility.

But.....hey, that's just me.

Well, I never watch Gibson, Couric or any of the mainstream people. The only reason I watched because of Sarah.

I wasn't impressed with Couric. I definitely found Gibson to be unusally distatesful.

I go with PBS for new.
