ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A judge in Alaska is set to hear arguments this week on whether he should halt an abuse-of-power investigation of Gov. Sarah Palin by the Alaska Legislature.

Anchorage Superior Court Judge Peter Michalski has scheduled a hearing for Thursday in a lawsuit filed by five Republican lawmakers. They say the investigation has been tainted by partisan politics since Palin has been nominated as the GOP's vice presidential candidate.

The legislators want to block the state Legislative Council's investigation into whether Palin acted improperly when she fired Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan this summer. Palin denies that she pressured Monegan to fire a state trooper who had gone through a bitter divorce with her sister.

Let me get this straight. This aide served at the Governors pleasure and was fired. She could have fired him for wearing ugly ties or talking too loud on the phone in his office and nobody can question it. How is this even an issue?

Anchorage Superior Court Judge Peter Michalski today refused to halt the Legislature's investigation of Gov. Sarah Palin and denied the state attorney general's attempt to throw out legislative subpoenas.

Unless the Republican plaintiffs appeal to the state Supreme Court, Todd Palin may have to testify.

This is according to the Anchorage Daily News

Palin initially welcomed the investigation, saying "hold me accountable,"

May I quote you Sarah? What are you hiding?

Unless this judge is as stupid as Palin, the probe will move forward.

Is this one of Bush's appointee??? Another fact The decision to hire and independent investigator and to look in the allegation of Palin's misconduct was started before she was asked to be VP nominee..

How about if the judge is paid by Palin?

Was going to ask how can McCain look anyone in the eye over this blatant coverup...but then again, I forgot that's hard to do, when you're a LIAR. A pox on that lawsuit!

Here's another opportunity for McClassic Opportunist to suspend WaSilly's debates with Joe.

The old man will use anything to get attention. Isn't there anything that the folks in Alaska can do to get those aliens out of their town?

I went to work on the Obama campaign in Wasilla about a week after Palin was announced and the entire office was being shipped out to battleground states where they were more needed- obviously giving up on AK at that point. It was disheartening to say the least and while I have not been back to the office, I have been doing what I can on the internet.

Is anyone on these blogs actively doing something to help Obama win or all we all just on here preaching to the choir about what idiots McCain and Palin are? Afterall, I highly doubt any critics of the two are reading the Huffington. No accusations, I honestly would like to know so maybe I could get more ideas of how I could help. Keep in mind I'm deep in the heart of Palin Land. Obama supporters are here, but we're mostly underground due to connections to the family in one way or another.

tm68- We've read about the protests in Anchorage, so there are lots of folks with you in Alaska who are not Palin fans. Maybe it will sink in for AK voters, before the election, that they can say goodbye to earmarks, now that the Gov has discovered her reform maverick self within. Maybe there will be a fun campaign when she comes up for re-election!
Make calls, donate if you can, and be sure to vote! I Iive in California, and the odds look good for Obama here overall, so I will be heading to Colorado to help GOTV in the Denver area the first four days in November. While still here, though, I make calls even though I live in the central valley (one of the really "red" areas of our state.) With my cell phone, I can call out of state for free, so I've called Nevada voters. The Obama website is a great resource. Take care, and thanks for your work and efforts.

Hi tm68,

I live in Anchorage and have been volunteering, too, but it is disappointing Obama's office is leaving. So here's what else I do. Every town that Palin visits, I go online to the local newspaper site and leave a respectful, factual message about Palin's real weakness--her obvious lies about her transparency and openness in Troopergate. I refer them to documents or information at places like the Anchorage Daily News (www.adn.com) or Mudflats (www.themudflats.net) or Andrew Halcro (www.andrewhalcro.com).

I do the same on big newspaper and network sites, and some conservative sites. I don't get into pissing matches, I just stick with the facts and urge people to find out for themselves. Some people don't want to hear it, but some do ask more questions. We can always hope enough people will be smart enough to at least look into it. And at the very least, it helps me feel better....

Keep the faith!

P.S. Also, my friends and I have been giving out condoms with the McCain/Palin sticker on it, and slogans like "Drill, Baby, Drill!" and "Free Levi!" and "As long as you're going to get f$#%*!, you might as well be safe." That's some kind of fun, too.

Keep us informed of whats going on in AK, and maybe let people in America's Heartland know what happening up there. The Heartland is where "Mc ' and 'Pain' has their biggest following... Thanks

Yup!

I live in Ohio and I am a volunteer...knocking on doors and making calls...and posting as much as I can on sites like these. Not to trash McCain or Palin, but to talk about the truth.

I am amazed at the the blind ignorance of some Americans. But more concerned that the focus on her lack of experience overshadows the "allegedly" corrupt administration she ran. And the increasing number of Alaskan men and women that oppose her.

Not to mention McCain's lack of sound judgment.

The Alaskins are taking a beating True. But ultimately they stand to benefit if Palin's career is destroyed. After all, if it were not for McCain they wouldn't know what a fool she really is. After this she will be the political joke of the millenium. It seems to me that their politicians in Alaska could stand some exposure. Jeez, and I thought NJ was bad. Maybe Palin can get a job in that beauty salon she frequents after this.

There is so much wrong here and so much interference and cover-up. Remind you of any other presidential candidates? If I were a resident of Alaska I would be screaming about the take-over by the McCain campaign. They are no different than Bush in any way.

This would be a huge joke and mockery of the Constitution if the judiciary can just up and stop a mere probe by the legislature.

McCaint is just trying to buy time for his Falin campaign. lol

Ruling of the judge: no jurisdiction or probe can continue.

The fact that she is running as vice president of this country is the most important reason this investigation should continue.

If she is innocent, why try to hide it? IF........

OK.
She's obviously guilty of abuse of power.
Convict her and lets move on.

Wonder how the Alaska folks will feel about Palin when she returns to govern. The person who was all about open and transparent govt suddenly wanted to get everything suppressed. Her "bring it on" response turned into" I am way too important to deal with all you little people and your rules". More hypocrisy!

It is true that this case has been impacted by political pressures. All of which have come from the McCain campaign. THEM making that claim about political influence is as amazing as it is laughable. If they want politics out of it, then they should get out of it. Simple.
