I Like ItI Don’t Like It

David Kurtz at TPM writes, "John McCain made the morning show rounds today. On Fox they were virtually begging him to 'suspend' his campaign again in the wake of the bailout failure yesterday on the Hill. You know, since it worked out so well the first time. McCain's answer: He just might suspend again."

McCain's comments follow a blog post by William Kristol yesterday arguing, "if this is really 'a national economic crisis,' and others have failed to lead, then McCain should lead--by re-suspending his campaign (fine, let observers mock him when he announces this), and leading his party and the Congress towards a solution. They won't mock if he can pull this off."

Watch the video of McCain on Fox News this morning:

Uhhh. Ok. The first time didnt work so well. Why he would think a second time would be better I havent the foggiest. Unless... its another one of his big gambles that can pay off big time or he could end up in the proverbial gutter.

Can anyone honestly tell me they are still actually listening to McCain anymore? I stopped listening with the first 'suspension'....so pathetic it is sad!

Excerpt from DailyKos article:

"The Republican National Committee's new advertisement critical of the the Wall Street "bailout" was produced and sent to television stations in key states before the package failed, officials at two stations said.

"Wall Street Squanders our money. And Washington is forced to bail them out with -- you guessed it -- our money. Can it get any worse?" asks the ad's narrator, as the words "BAILOUT WITH OUR MONEY" cross the screen. (The answer: Obama's plans would make it worse.) [...]

The ad taps into deep resentment of the plan, but it comes at a time when the candidate it supports, John McCain, is urging its package, and asking that it not be referred to as a "bailout," but a "rescue."

The picture of McCain's scowl that highlighted this article on Huffington's main page should become as well known as "the hug". A picture is worth many more words than a thousand and that picture plays into America's impression of him at the last debate. It would make a great bumper sticker, i.e. Don't vote for a troll. McCain makes more and more of a clown of himself as he flails around seeking ways to draw attention to himself. He's like a kid who hasn't been taught better than to try doing silly things at every occasion in order to get all the attention in the room. It's like he's trying to be the birthday boy all day every day, except he can't do it honest by sharing his policies, so he tries to do it with lights and bells and whistles, but most of all with distractions. He can never win on the issues and he knows it. He doesn't even try.

The very best thing for Biden to do is suspend his campaign. Don't show up for the debate and just let Sarah talk.

I think the real modus operandi here is that McCain is trying to conserve money for the last big push. With his bizarre performances of the last several weeks, his supporters just don't have faith in him and he needs to conserve some for the bitter, bitter end.

So expect a rash of negative ads, maybe even racist ones.

What I find the most disturbing about this thing is that they are not even asking the candidate what he intends to do but rather feeding him advice. Not only is that not their job but the advice is so stupid one can't imagine what they are thinking. It didn't work the first time and was an unmitigated disaster for McBush. Now here they are basically suggesting he do again what did not work before? Gawd the Fox people are morons.

He doesn't know what he's going to do unless it's printed on one of his 3 x 5 cards.

McCain will do anything to cancel Palin's debate on Thusrday. John McCain is a gimmick a day. His who presidential run has become a laughing stock and a gimmick.. Note to USA - never, ever, run a 72 year old many and a -(how can I put this delicately) unqualifed gimmick pick again.

The critical issues are not on McCain's side. The nation wants and deserve "change". McCain can't provide that. Palin can't provide anything, but they will keep trying.

I can't wait for the next stunt!

Oh PALEESE! Oh God, Palin!
McCain can't make a strong decision no matter what he does! If he thinks Sarah Palin is the best possible choice for VP, it has to make you wonder where his brain went.? Huh?
If he thinks that suspending his campaign is the thing to do, then truly he's lost it.
There is nothing presidential about McCain. All I see is an old man who has lost his way and looks so tired already. In contrast, Barak Obama is very presidential and his actions show it.
Yep, it sure is painful to watch isn't it?

What I'm concerned about is McCain's health.
Last week or so he was on camera, and his left eye was drooped. Does he have a heart condition? Could this be a sign of a would-be stroke?
With all the pressures this job entails, I do wonder if this man can physically stand it?
If not, do we really want the "average hockey mom" to run our country? DANG!! She wasn't even the COACH!

McCain is guilty of being in the same party as Bush! Isn't that enough? After eight years of Bush misery and destruction why would anyone vote for any Republican? Would any other country re-elect a member of the party that unleashed an unprecedented destruction of that country? We have turned into a truly "special" kind of people. ;-)

Remember when Republicans used to say that we should give them the presidency and the congress and they will show us what they can do. Americans have given them the opportunity and they have made a load of kahkah! Let's face it, we should not give people who don't believe in government a chance to govern! When are going to learn?

Has anyone else noticed that the volume of tr0lls defending this guy has diminished to about a dozen? :Looks like they're either low on money at the McCain campaign or folks have lost interest.

It's obvious he is tired and needs little break, age does that to you. While he claims he is suspending his campaign, the wheels of the McCain spinning lies machine continue on.
