McCain May Suspend Campaign Again

David Kurtz at TPM writes, "John McCain made the morning show rounds today. On Fox they were virtually begging him to 'suspend' his campaign again in the wake of the bailout failure yesterday on the Hill. You know, since it worked out so well the first time. McCain's answer: He just might suspend again."

McCain's comments follow a blog post by William Kristol yesterday arguing, "if this is really 'a national economic crisis,' and others have failed to lead, then McCain should lead--by re-suspending his campaign (fine, let observers mock him when he announces this), and leading his party and the Congress towards a solution. They won't mock if he can pull this off."

McCain resuspending his campaign is the first thing that came to my mind after the Repubs voted against the bailout. I actually wouldn't be surprised if we find out in the future that he asked them to vote against it, so he can pull this stunt and come across as the hero. And in the process, he'll suspend Palin's debate with Biden because of it's a time to focus on Main St and not frivolous debates. The only words that seem to come out of his mouth anymore...is blame Obama. Wonder where Obama right before the Nazis invaded Poland.

I was shocked, amazed and completely dumbfounded when I heard today that McCain has an 11 point lead in the polls. What do the people see that I'm missing? Have they been in the same country I'm in? Or do they really just don't care enough to pay attention? I really want to know what they find in McCain that they think he would make a good president. I must be missing something.

Craig Ferguson, a newly sworn American as of the 4th of July this year, said he finds the idea of suspending a campaign unbelievable as it is part of the democratic process. I'm paraphrasing here but he also noted we didn't suspend campaigns for 9/11, the attack on Pearl Harbor, WWII, the Nazis or any other disaster. I couldn't agree more! All of this political grandstanding is playing with our futures and I want none of it. The only way I will support McCain suspending his campaign is if it is PERMANENTLY! OBAMA-BIDEN '08
