Sarah Palin said she does not support the morning after pill as a form of contraception, strongly implied that homosexuality was a choice, and could not name a single source of news that she turns to for information, in yet another installment of her interview series with Katie Couric.

Appearing on CBS Evening News, the Alaska Governor seemed calmer than she had been in previous sit downs. But while she only occasionally provided the type of befuddled responses that had even conservatives scratching their heads, her interview was nevertheless shaky.

Asked what newspapers and magazines she reads, Palin - a journalism major in college - could not name one publication.

"I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media," she said at first. Couric responded, "What, specifically?"

"Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years."

"Can you name a few?"

"I have a vast variety of source where we get our news," Palin said. "Alaska isn't a foreign country, where it's kind of suggested, 'wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C., may be thinking when you live up there in Alaska?' Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America."

Watch the full Palin interview:

Later, when pressed on a variety of cultural issues, Palin provided red meat for religious conservatives. But her answers seemed to fall on the far edge of mainstream political thought. She said she was "unapologetically" pro-life when asked if she opposed abortion even for a 15-year-old raped by her father.

"[I would] counsel that person to choose life despite the horrific, horrific circumstances," she said, before moderating her position a bit: "If you're asking, though, kind of foundationally here, should anyone end up in jail for having an ... abortion, absolutely not. That's nothing I would ever support."

Asked whether she believed that the morning after pill should be outlawed, Palin did not directly address the question, saying only: "Personally, and this isn't a McCain-Palin policy, I would not choose to participate in that kind of contraception."

And quizzed about her position on gay-rights, Palin cited a homosexual friend whom she is close with before noting that she "made a choice" about her sexuality.

"I have," she said, "one of my absolute best friends for the last 30 years who happens to be gay and I love her dearly. And she is not my gay friend. She is one of my best friends who happens to have made a choice that isn't a choice that I would have made."

These positions may, in the long run, endear Palin even more to her conservative following. But combined with her failure to name a source of news she turns to, they are also bound to have people buzzing up through Thursday night's vice presidential debate.

For Palin, it is all about being in front of the camera and being able to deliever her script. If this woman even had half a brain more people would be forgiving. Yet her decision not to appear for interviews clearly indicates she is unable to stand on her own. How can she stand for us?

The assumption here is that she actually got a degree. I really find it hard to believe that someone could go to 5 schools in 6 years and have all of the credits transfer between schools. I would like to see the diploma or at least a statement from the university that granted Gov. Palin her degree. I'm not saying she's lying but I am saying that in my experience her degree is suspect.

Is there a reason why no one (at least to my knowledge) who attended classes with her at the various colleges she claimed to have attended has said anything about her?

Gwen Ifil wrote a "NICE BOOK" about Mccain. It really doesnt deal with the truth. She's one of the PBS corp controlled journalists. Bill Moyers does some good stuff butt the PBS news dept sucks!

As a Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner I felt that I must respond to Gov. Palin's comment regarding the morning after pill. That is considered EMERGENCY contraception not a METHOD of contraception. I offer my contraception only when the contraception used by a couple fails. This may be a small gaffe but, to me, it demonstrates how little she knows about women's health. Her being the Vice President truly scares me as not only as a health provider but as a woman.

Can anyone in Alaska tell us if Palin ever went to more than two journalism classes? Or if she went to college at all?

My life has been spent around radio, TV and newspaper journalists and she has ***none*** of the attrributes of one. She has no curiosity, no pride in intelligence, no eagerness for facts, no imagination... ad nauseum. I think it would be found that her resume is a teeny bit padded.

She never wanted to be a journalist. She wanted to be a broadcaster, a member of the
"media elite." Now she has done it, she is a broadcaster for McSame! Hitting all her talking points, glasses to look intelligent, updo coiffed perfectly, reading her copy! Think Ted from The Mary Tyler Moore show, only younger and a girl!

She might have graduated with a journalism degree with her "special talent", without doing any work or attending any classes.

Or she did it the old fashion way, bought it monetarily or with her charms.

Or just like granpa, graduated at the bottom of his class.in the Naval Academy.

I believe Palin made her point clear. "Paying taxes is not patriotic. Government gets in the way and should not be in the lives of the people." Saying that to me is TOTALLY not patriotic. That statement sounds to me to be very anti-government and is bordering upon treason. It is ones duty to ones country to pay your taxes and to follow the laws set forth by the government of that country.

Wow I can name a number of publications that have "shaped my world view" (not in order of importance but just off the top of my head):

USA Today
The Washington Post
The New York Times

The Boston Times
The San Francisco Chronicle
Playboy
Playgirl
O
Martha
Sunset Magazine
Weekly Reader
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
The Art of War for Women
Nancy Drew (all of them)
Misty
Black Beauty
Gone with the Wind
Exodus
Oh and of course The National Enquirer
There's so many more. That wasn't hard at all was it ladies?????

She "can't" name a source she reads, or she "won't?" Think about it.

I firmly believe based on her body language, hem and hawing, her well known extreme right-wing views, and today's diatribe (on Fox, no less) on how you get "clobbered" if you answer and "clobbered" if you don't, she simply refused to reveal that she reads no mainstream and/or objective source. Instead she reads right wing propaganda for her "news," such as "Human Events" and the like.

Clearly, this is not something she'd want those undecided independent voters to know....

"...could not name a single source of news.." Oh well...Biden did'ent know who the president was during the Great Depression.

Your link to FDR's chat about the banking crisis during the Great Depression. While this is a radio broadcast, other chats by FDR on the same topic were filmed and have been broadcast.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFvrL_nqx2c&feature=related

This link is a filmed (possibly televised) FDR address to the nation about his plan to stop forclosures so people could keep there farms etc...

I expect that many who delight in Biden's gaffe are literalists taking cues from talking heads. But most literalists are extremely familiar with gaffes and often use them when reciting their favorite stories: "The 6 days of Creation", "How women were made out of men". I wonder if female literalists ever get tired of getting ribbed about that gaffe?

ADDITIONAL TV & DEPRESSION FACTS:
The Great Depression lingered into the year 1941, longer for the wealthiest Americans who remained bitter about paying an earnest wage.

The first TV broadcast took place in 1925 but did not start causing depression until political ads were commonplace.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Bidan's 'gaffe' was his use of a complex analogy referencing American history - one of the most misinformed topics in America.

Palin's gaffes by contrast stem from her ignorance. She is devoid of clear answers and when confronted with the obvious; chooses to camouflage her beliefs behind a mosaic of Busho-babble. Busho-babble appears as ignorance but is actually a desire to manipulate people rather than opening up policies to genuine debate.

argh....

I can't wait for November 5th and the surcease of these "nattering nabobs of negativity" to get out of my life, thanks to the victory of Barack Obama. Funny that's old Spiro Agnew's phrase for the "liberal media" but it fits McPalin to a T.
