Politico:

Rush Limbaugh opened his show today by piling on top of House Republican leadership for claiming that a crucial number of their members voted against the bailout package because of a partisan speech that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) gave before the roll call.

"C'mon guys. Can ya grow up?" he said. "There were a whole lot of reasons for House Republicans to vote against this thing yesterday."

He said Democrats never intended to pass it and GOPers likely realized that as they saw Democratic 'no' votes piling up during the vote. "It was a set-up from the get-go," analyzed Limbaugh.

Really? 40% (forty percent) of Dems voted no. 95 out of 234.
Including 12 (twelve) Dem members of the Banking commission.

while that man is a plague on my soul, i'm glad he uttered the words "conservative media." i was under the impression that such a thing didn't exist. whenever repubs can't answer a direct question about their candidates, the "liberal media" always gets the blame.

It's very easy to tell the unbiased media from the biased.

The biased media sometimes will disagree with one.

The unbiased media always agrees.

Funnily enough it is the one thing that people of all political persuasions agree on.

Who said bipartisanship was dead?

it isn't really that bipartisan, i have only heard the terms conservative media (now) and liberal media used by repubs.

To paraphraze Ronald Reagan...

"When it comes to the state of America today, Republicans are not the solution to our problem, Republicans are the problem."

This guy's listeners are so dim as to not get the basic math that more than enough Dems voted for the legislation to pass it, had less than half of the Republicans stepped forward.

This was strictly a failure on the part of the Republican leadership and the Republicans involved in the negotiations to help create a bill that would have gained sufficient bipartisan support. The Democrats cannot be expected to swallow this pill alone.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:41 AM on 10/01/2008

Wrong. Dems had the majority, if they wanted, they could have passed their own stupid bill.

Obviously enough Dems didn't vote for it.

What's the point of the dems gaining a majority in congress if you can't do anything with it?

Swallow hard, your "leadership" is a joke.

Bush gave you a blank check for 700 billion and your own party voted against it.

And the market bounced back illustrating that it wasn't that vital to pass it right away.

Is GOP in favor of big government now? It seems so with McCain's latest statements on the bailout.
Perhaps the Republican party picked the wrong candidate.

Perhaps the next president, whichever party, is doomed to fail because of events that have taken place over the last 8 years and are still unfolding. The subprime defaults are small compared to the coming credit derivative defaults ($62 trillion). Unstoppable wheels may be in motion.

Much like the great depression, the real recovery won't take place until after 2012. The winner of the 2012 election will get the credit.

Rush is correct....The Dems are playing chess this time ;)

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:51 PM on 09/30/2008

better question.....what is Rush up to.
Come on...these are republicans

They are setting this up...making sure it looks ugly and huge...and the McCain will swoop in and fix all of this.
It's a stunt.
Think...like a republican

Think like a republican? I can't, I don't have that much malice in me.

Ahhh.

I'm settling back in my recliner - watching the shifting electoral map.

Of course, McSame could win. I know that. You guys have got Rush and Glenn and Shammity and a whole host of fascist caricatures pounding him the extremist agenda of the oligarchic interests.

HOWEVER . . .

It's looking an awful lot like you WON'T win.

And I'm working on a song about . . .

THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE

Love this song!

It's not done.

I've plenty of time.

Thirty-five days.

Then comes January.

Then . . .

THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE . . .

Ahhh . . .

I take a long swig on my brewsky.

You see, I'M Joe Sixpack, too.

Remember in 2004 when it looked like President Kerry was headed for the White House?

The only poll that matters is in November.
The only electoral vote map that matters is determined the day after the votes are counted.

McCain/Palin (Unstable/Unable) can pull it off: never ever underestimate the intelligence of the average voter.

We have a Republi-con President wanting a bill

Democrats voted TWO THIRDS FOR the Republi-con President.

Republi-CONS vote TWO THIRDS AGAINST their own Republi-con President!

And Dems get blamed? lol

Republi-cons only LIKE TO SUPPORT WASTEFUL WARS IN LARGE NUMBERS!
After all to their sick mind, life is cheaper than a few stinking dollars! Tsk tsk!

limbaugh is less important in what he supports than what he attacks. within the GOP and dittohead land he may criticize and have occasional tantrms and lapses in solidarity but his real effect and the reason why he has been the most important political force the last 20 years is that he is the point man for the GOP talk radio monopoly and mostly they just attack, swiftboat and make excuses. we wouldn't be in this mess without limbaugh and the talk radio monopoly.

connecting obama to fannie freddie is happening now because limbaugh and hannity and crew are pounding it into the earholes of 60MIL, claiming former fannie head raines is an obama consultant and will be in his cabinet or some such crap. the talk radio monopoly will make the connection, while blaming it all on fannie and freddie and it will cost obama millions of votes, delivered from 1000 RW radio stations across the country, if he doesn't respond soon, maybe with ads on those same radio stations. it isn't just those 60MIL, it's their families and friends too, and it is why the democratic party is now called the democrat party- fox TV and the other TV and print can't do that.

And how did Clear Channel go from less than 20 stations to, what, 800+ and give jokers like Limbaugh such a platform? The Telecom Act of '96, signed by us Dems "favorite" Dem: Bill Clinton. Thank you very much, Bill.

And thank you very much OurKoan. We've gotta be honest.

I had some high hopes when Clinton was elected. He turned out to be a pro-choice, corporate Republican. Even with his many flaws, he was still far less dangerous or embarassing as W. Granted, that is a pretty low bar. But seriously, what a wasted opportunity the Clinton years were.

But I think there is nowhere to go but up. If McCain wins, all bets are off but I don't think he will. It might be closer than we would like but Obama should take it, even factoring in racism and voting shenanigans.

Neither progressive or conservative ideology support this bill and that's why a significant number of representatives on both sides voted against it. They don't understand it and it doesn't follow their own rationale so they can't vote for it. Passing it is the responsible thing to do, but I cannot disagree with somebody voting against something they either understand or believe in.

Once again, the media takes Rush out of context. He was quoting media pundits who were critical of the GOP for their "reasons" for voting no.

Here is the transcript of his opening segment. What he actually said is in the 8th paragraph of the transcript.

He also said, and this is IN context, that the first 25 minutes of Friday's debate (on the economy) went to Obama, hands down, undeniably. Right, markie?

Too bad for Obama that the debate lasted 90 minutes. I guess he couldn't "finish".
