Couric Palin

During their interview Monday, Katie Couric asked Sarah Palin what newspapers and magazines she read to inform her worldview before being tapped as John McCain's Vice Presidential running mate. And Tuesday on the "CBS Evening News," Palin's answer was revealed: "most of them," "all of 'em," and "any of 'em."

Palin would not, or could not, name a specific news source, saying only, "I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news too. Alaska isn't a foreign country, where, it's kind of suggested and it seems like, 'Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C. may be thinking and doing when you live up there in Alaska?' Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America."

Watch (discussion of media sources begins approximately 3:45 in):

TRANSCRIPT:

Katie Couric: And when it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious: what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?
Sarah Palin: I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media.
KC: But, like, what ones specifically? I'm curious.
SP: All of 'em, any of 'em that have been in front of me over all these years.
KC: Can you name a few?
SP: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news too. Alaska isn't a foreign country, where, it's kind of suggested and it seems like, 'Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C. may be thinking and doing when you live up there in Alaska?' Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America.

...and what about her statement that homosexuality is a lifestyle "choice" her friend has made but not a "choice" that Sarah has made for herself? I was very surprised there was no follow up on the broadcast, like, "so Gov. Palin, you're saying you believe homosexuality is a "choice" of lifestyle rather than a biologically determined sexual orientation. Would your gay friend agree with your point of view?"

Newsweek and Time are pinko rags. "Moose Hunter" and "Caribous and Rifle" would have drawn criticism from you liberals; therefore, she had to say nothing.

Katie stated tomorrow night she is going to air the segment were she asked the vp candidates about the supreme court and other issues. I think this is what the Post ( yes the Post Sarah, you might of heard of it), was reporting on this week that she could not name another ruling other than Roe vs Wade.
I can't wait!

I was voting for Obama before I read this, but you know, at this point I am actually embarrased for the Republicans.

This blew my mind. She could not name one. She could of named the NY Times for gods sake. Now that I think of it that would of been quite funny.

I can't hear the pundits reaction to this!

yeah, she's been in NYC, meetin' all those foreign leaders, did she not notice a NYT sitting around? A box on the street? Aside from the idea she may have actually picked up a copy and glanced at a few headlines, you'd think the name might surface in her brain at least a little. Something she could fall back on. Evidently not.

Unfortunately, she'll probably just toss out her talking points, and Biden won't have time to do anything with them. I have to admit I'm a little concerned that she'll come across as less dumb than she is...
