Sarah Palin Answers What Newspapers, Magazines Inform Her Worldview: "Most Of 'Em...All Of 'Em...Any Of 'Em," "Alaska Is Like A Microcosm Of America"

During their interview Monday, Katie Couric asked Sarah Palin what newspapers and magazines she read to inform her worldview before being tapped as John McCain's Vice Presidential running mate. And Tuesday on the "CBS Evening News," Palin's answer was revealed: "most of them," "all of 'em," and "any of 'em."

Palin would not, or could not, name a specific news source, saying only, "I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news too. Alaska isn't a foreign country, where, it's kind of suggested and it seems like, 'Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C. may be thinking and doing when you live up there in Alaska?' Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America."

Katie Couric: And when it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious: what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?
Sarah Palin: I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media.
KC: But, like, what ones specifically? I'm curious.
SP: All of 'em, any of 'em that have been in front of me over all these years.
KC: Can you name a few?
SP: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news too. Who reads "everything"? And "anything" in front of her? Come on this is about the most ridiculous response she could have made to an easy question. Katie was probably looking at her and thinking OMG she actually said that. I can't wait for SNL!

This is insane! Is this one of McCains so called Gotcha questions? Unless she is embarassed about the rags she reads this answer should be so routine. Yet her response makes it big news. And for some of the "spinners" out there saying that the Joe 6 Pack voters would support her response is absurd. I mean when are they going to run out of spin?

Someone commented earlier, but I can't find it, that it will be so interesting when all of this dysfunction is put in a book in a year or so. I think, if McCain/Palin lose, it will be much sooner (in an article). Within a month of the election. I can't wait.

Wow! Palin can't name one newspaper. Not even one from her own state of Alaska! Wait until she gets that 3:00am wake up call regarding a world crisis if she and McCain are in the WH. What you see America is what you get!

I'm starting to wonder if she could answer the question, "Is your name, Sarah Palin," with a straight answer.

"Well, you know, Katie, I don't like putting labels on people."

Palin is so programmed and desperate not to say the wrong thing that she was afraid to say that she reads any of the country's major national newspapers such as The New York Times or Washington Post out of fear that her conservative friends would look at her sideways for admitting to reading those liberal rags. She didn't even know enough to say she reads The Wall Street Journal or The Washington Times or any newspaper with a more conservative bent. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that she reads some major newspapers or national news magazines but she is apparently so fearful of giving honest answers that she instead wrote the next Saturday Night Live skit for Tina Fey.

It's a shame they stuck that D. Gregory for the debates rather than Keith or Rachel. Gregory gets on my nerves - he is BORING. I hope their ratings go way down during the debates - we are watching on CNN or C-SPAN.
