The Boss and the Piano Man are officially hitting the campaign trail.

On Tuesday, Obama donors were informed that Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel will join the Democratic nominee for his "last event in the Tri-State region before the election," at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.

Please join us the evening of Thursday, October 16th for a very special concert with Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and other exciting guests! This is the first time that Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen will play the same concert!

Even in an election year with some historic "firsts," that's pretty notable. And pretty expensive: balcony tickets go for $500, "premiere" seats cost $2,500 per person, and lounge tickets go for $10,000.

UPDATE: Turns out the Obama release was wrong, Springsteen and Joel have played together at least once before:

Now why would they let you pions in for cheap seats? they dont care about you. They really need springstein and joel for this? These people should just shut the hell up no one care what you have to say. springstein is the biggest UN american I ever seen . His songs should be taken and burned. I think you mean "peon".

But then again, you're advertising for Rush Limbaugh. That says all that anyone needs to know.

I'd say nobody cares what you say more.

So according to your own advice, why don't YOU just shut up?

I thinkit's great when celebrities speak their minds. They are after all, Americans too.

P.S. You can't burn a song.

Reading the comments, it's obvious the Republicans are in a twist over this. I don't see why they are so jealous. They have Ted Nugent, afterall. LOL

Springstein and Joel are not - and have not been - in touch with real America since their stardom long ago. Bruce and Billy tote flags and wear jeans and act like working class but it's all an act that they get filthy rich from. In their elite social circles it's really hip to be Pro-Obama. What stumps me is why on earth does obama need any more campaign cash??? It blows to see this country go down so hard - so far - so fast. I think greed and ultra-liberalism will kill America and the stupidity of the masses to trust the media with the truth - and this Springstein and Joel concert - and Obama's fast rise are all media stunts.

So Springsteen's social circles are elite as compared to who's? Are you saying John and Paris McCain are more in touch with the working class?. Seriously? Dam, I didn't think Republicans got hi gh.

HELLO!. Have you been paying attention?! Who has been in power for most of the past 28 years (the last 8 in particular)? Whose political philosophies have been at the forefront (deregulation, faith-based this and that, no child left behind, pre-emptive war)? If the country is indeed falling apart, hmmm...., maybe we should start looking there.

As for the media, you are absolutely right. The corporate owned MSM cannot be trusted to report the truth. We do have to ignore them. The media assumed Obama would be easier for McCain to beat than Hillary. Perhaps they assumed wrong. The media is a HUGE part of the military industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us against.

Get a clue! Jacka**!!!

Obama has ZERO leadership experience - Zilch. He's a showman - Obama is all art and no matter. Go ahead and vote and promote Obama. The media shut my Republican candidate Ron Paul out. I do think that Obama is not what this country needs - but he'll get elected because this country is in trouble and his "Change" message will carry him into the white house. But Obama is really clueless as a leader - he just makes a great show. OBAMA IS ALL ART AND NO MATTER.

Ultra Liberalism???? This country is so right wing they would get whiplash trying to see their left wing - christian this, god that, Wall Street deregulated, environmental protections scrapped, BS wars for oil that will bankrupt us, illegal wiretapping, corporate welfare, creationism, Roe v Wade under assault, corporate controlled Right Wing media, talk radio 90% Conservative, 8 YEARS OF REPUBLICAN CONTROL!! - man what in hell are you smoking??

BTW, Springsteen has more wisdom, compassion, and common sense in his guitar pick than all of your favorite NeoCon knuckleheads combined.

I like both Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen despite their politics. But I have a recommendation for the two of them. Barack Obama has plenty of money filling his coffers. They are not going to make any difference with this election. If they have nothing better to do then why don't they give the money to a more worthy cause. I hear liberals complain so much about how the poor are not being taken care of. This money could be used to stock a food pantry. It could be used for shelters fort battered women. It could be used for a homeless shelter. It could be used to purchase sleeping bags or blankets for the homeless. It could be used for many things. Many things that Barack Obama will not do if he is president. So go ahead and have your concert. And then pat yourselves on the back and try to convince every one what good deeds you did.

Or John McCain's wife can donate her $300K dress she wore to the convention to feed the poor? Or a couple of their houses?

Or maybe Haliburton can donate a week's profits for hurricane relief. Or better yet, the Carlyle Group!!!

Yeah. that's going to happen. I'm sorry, foolish person; there is a difference between 'Publicans and the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party doesn't have as one of it's tenets "grind the poor into the dirt...but exploit them first."

Obama is raising money honestly and industriously. Sorry that not many popular and/or talented artists aren't backing your candidate or offering their services. As a matter of fact, they're trying to KEEP their music from being used by the 'Publicans.

You must be an idiot because of all of the assumptions you make. First of all if a singer were having a concert for McCain I would be calling for the same thing. Second of all the last time I checked Halliburton and Carlyle were corporations and not individuals. Third lof all most of those artists you mention don't own the rights to their music and have no say in who can use it and who can't. Nice try.

How about donate 9 of McCain's 10 houses to people who lost their homes in the recent mortgage crisis?

Or perhaps the Bushes could bail out the country with their oil billions?

C'mon, man.

People lost their homes because of their stupidity. Not because McCain has more houses.

What makes you think that they don't already do the kinds of things that you are talking about? I'd be willing to bet that the Boss makes his share of donations. But even if they don't, aren't they free to do whatever they want? But then again, conservatives don't really approve of free speech unless it's on their behalf.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:12 PM on 09/30/2008

First of all learn to read. I never said that he never made donations. I said that raising money for Obama was a waste of money if it could go to better causes. Second of all he is free to do what he wants with the money and I am free to think it's stupid. You liberals are the last ones to be talking about free speech. You abuse freedom of speech more than any other group on this planet.

TORREP............You're phrase "I hear liberals complain so much about how the poor are not being taken care of. This money could be used to stock a food pantry."

You' ll never never hear anyone link that sentence with the Republican party.

You may think you're putting Democrats down, but that was actually a compliment.

Thank for the Support.

That's right. You won't hear us talking about it because we don't talk about it, we do something about it. I don't expect my government to forceably take money from one group to give to another. I do however expect people to dedicate their own time and money to help others. I have been to foreign nations to help those in need. I served in the Gulf Coast during Katrina and I served in my own state during the wild fires. I am involved with a school that our church has adopted. I donate more than 15% of my income to charities. I do what I can. Unlike most Democrats I know who stand around and wait for government to give them a hand out.
