I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Recently unearthed video shows that just two months after 9/11, John McCain was not only fully aware of the Bush Administration's Iraq War Agenda, but also that he actively helped make the argument for war.

In an interview broadcast November 28, 2001 on ABC News Nightline, McCain:

* Said that the Bush Administration would build a case for military conflict with Iraq, and expressed his support for such action

* Advanced false claims made by the Bush Administration about the threat of Iraqi WMD

* Connected Iraq with 9/11 by repeating the false claim that 9/11 hijacker Muhammad Atta had met with Iraq intelligence authorities in Prague before 9/11

Here's the video:

I love it, but I will never ever forget how they stole the election from Kerry....I checked the swing states and red states and at 10pm, Kerry was ahead with women AND MEN.... I was appallled but not surprised the next morning to realize we had another Bush coup.

I did not think anything could be worse than a third Bush Term, but now I am not so sure...

You can only hope that in this day of the internet and blogs that a better watch will be kept of the elections. Why can't voter registration be made more simple? In Canada, voting for Prime Minister will take place Nov.14. Eligible voters are daily receiving their notofication cards which one must bring with them to their voting poll/ It is some years since I have had to register and until I pass on to the Great Beyond? i am registered.

I wouldn't say that he "advanced false claims"; I would say that he stated an incorrect view. It was the belief of numerous intelligence agencies that Saddam possessed WMD.

McCain did not avail himself of the Oct 2002 NIE report.
The NIE was made available to all members of Congress before the vote, according to The Washington Post.

Would McCain have voted differently had he read the NIE?
Why didn't McCain read the Iraq NIE?
With such an important vote, should we not expect our lawmakers to avail themselves of all the available information, particularly our own National Intelligence Estimate?

NBC's Meet the Press, host Tim Russert asked Republican presidential candidate Sen McCain"In hindsight, was it a good idea to go into Iraq?"
McCain's reply that the invasion of Iraq "was certainly justified" because "every intelligence agency in the world, not just U.S., believed that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction."

In the case of the 2002 Iraq NIE, the credibility gap between the summary and the classified estimate was so wide as to cast real doubt on the Bush Administration’s intentions.

No it wasn't. Stop advancing another lie. Even our own intelligence agencies agreed THEN that Iraq had not reconstituted its WMD program and that no link existed between Iraq and Al Qaeda. Stop lieing.

um.... there is plenty of evidence that "intelligence" was fudged. McCain's running mate told Couric she and McCain ARE in favor of "nation-building." That is NOT the role of the USA ....

McCain is a warmonger who wants to invade small countries so McCain/Palin can "nation build."

Please don't propagate lies like this. It does not do any good and just provides political cover for scu.mba.gs

Read the books by Clarke, Tenent and others. There was no intelligence that Iraq had WMD. It was all bluster by Sadam to keep IRan in check.

That's because the administration leaned on the intelligence agencies to cherry-pick only the intelligence that supported their claims.

When the CIA wouldn't tell Rumsfeld what he wanted to hear he created his own intelligence agency (Office of Special Plans) that would.

In all seriousness, what does years of torture do to you psychologically? Would you have a deep seated desire to want to get even with the world?

Yes, he is scary, but Palin is far worse.

McCain will start a war because he has a temper and someone pissed him off. Palin will nuke the planet because she thinks it's God's will.

That terrifies me.

9-11 was the excuse for Bush and McCain to successfully push the Iraq war on to the American people. Where was the mainstream media back then? Know this, the same media that allowed Bush and McCain to sell this war is actively trying to get McCain in the White House (Tom Brokaw).

Remember that it was November 21st, 2001, when Bush ordered Rumsfeld to draw-up plans for invading Iraq -- resulting in the Tommy Franks profanities reported at the time. So the November 28th timeframe for McCain's Nightline appearance fits.

Of special note is that the hunt for bin Laden in Tora Bora was ongoing at this time.

And that's where the War on Terrorism unravelled, because Bush out-sourced our military at Tora Bora and let OBL get away!

And this shows the lack of good judgement on John McCain's part. He claims because he was a military man he has superior judgement on all things about war.......being a cheerleader for a failed policy, even before it is thoroughly implemented is not one of them.

Biggest foreign policy debacle in modern history, and ol' Johnny was right out front leading the charge.

Meanwhile, the Pavlovian press -- even those who occasionally mock his stumbling pretense of a campaign -- still make a point, every chance they get, of ceding foreign policy and national security to him as his "strengths".

A myth ain't a female moth.

I think the media is getting bored with the surge-was-an-unqualified-success storyline, and before the election, they'll be a real pushback on McCain's Iraq War record. By the end, both pre- and pos-t surge Iraq will be a negative for John McCain.

John McCain has declared victory in Iraq. How abut it, America, have we won the war?

It's not that he doesn't care, it's that John McCain doesn't get it.

Shouldn't be long before someone does a mash-up with Bush's "it'd be easier if it were a dictatorship" comment.

Holy Cow!! Do y'all think this was a Freudian slip? He didn't even seem to realize he said the word dictator! His brain just substituted the word 'dictator' for the word 'president'! WOW!

That was a pretty telling insight into his true aspirations! Obama's campaign better grab this and run with it.

We know that BushCo lied to us incessantly, threw Gen. Powell under his war bus and squandered the world's sympathy and trust to invade Iraq. Now, can anyone tell me -- without speculation -- exactly why BushCo was willing to bankrupt the country to do this. Where are the documents, the tapes? I do not believe this is some huge secret that only the Current Occupant has the answer to and will take to his grave.

That's it--McCain absolutely must NOT become president of ANYTHING. This is appalling. We do not need another lying warmonger neocon as president. The first was disastrous enough.
