Letterman

Tuesday night, David Letterman kept his war with John McCain raging strong, weaving another McCain joke into his monologue (that's 4 shows in a row, not counting the Friday show which was seemingly pre-taped earlier in the week).

"Yesterday the stock market...suffered its biggest one-day drop in history....And I'm telling you, boy, it's a good thing John McCain blew me off to go save the economy. Thank god is all I can say!"

Like there were really that many to begin with...they have stopped pretending they were Democrats and went back to what ever miserable Republican existence they had before.

Ron Paul ran as a Libertarian. Sara Palin should run for Librarian.

She's not smart enough to be a librarian. Also, she'd ban all the science books because they don't agree with her religious views.

Librarians seek knowledge and information. This would not be a compatible situation.

No Way! Librarians are smart and well read.

I'm starting to look forward to how Letterman is going to diss McCain every night. This one pretty much sums up the status of McCains current campaign.

I was a Political Science major in College so I stay pretty intuned to the whole process; but a friend who votes because I make her but could really care less about politics made this comment: "McCain doesn't look like he knows what he's doing; there is no way I would vote for him".
Now if this friend made that observation without even trying; the Palin/McCain ticket is in a whole lot of trouble.

I wonder if a lot of people who are basically incurious about politics have subliminally learned to identify politicians who are dishonest and incompetent simply by having seen so much of it for the past eight years?

I think you are right SecondBase.
It's all in the face, it's all in the actions/body language.

Obama has that big, wide, beautiful smile where even his eyes are smiling. MacAttack - his eyes are glazed, tired looking - he has that cheap smile (and it's cheap because it ain't worth much) his stiff body (yes, I know his arms were broken) but if he was better at this he wouldn't use them so much - ie: doing that ridiculous Richard Nixon thumbs up thing...you never see Obama doing that.

If McShorty thinks he can get by with lying and bailing on David Letterman, how do you think he'll treat people like us who don't have their own tv shows?

It's good to see that Letterman, or Paris Hilton for that matter have some recourse when they're dissed like the rest of us by politicians.

Letterman- let him have it all the way until election day. McCain deserves it! McCain is such a jerk.

In the words of John McCain, where is your humor?

I agree with Letterman. Thank GOD john mccain did go, we only lost $1.2 trillion in value on all the retirement plans under the so call stock market.

I reviewed my retirement plan, value drop right before the plan was due to receive interest and dividends. Therefore, we can say we were hit two knock out punches. If McCain provide any more help with the republican party I can look forward to being having a foreclosure sign instead of a vote for sign in front my home real soon.

You still get your dividends. The next day you got 60% back. Incidentally, you could see this thing coming from last December. I know you think I say it now, but I have been telling friends since December this was going to happen. W. Buffett has been talking about derivatives since 2002. What have you been paying attention to?

Your retirement plan may be dropping a whole lot more I'm afraid. The derivatives market is estimated at $63 tn. It is all worthless paper tied to sub-prime mortgages. Do you really think $700 bn is going to push it off very much longer? Just enough so Bush can claim, "I made it, it's the guy after me that screwed up".

Derivatives are a pyramid scheme that is about to collapse, I believe. We shall soon see.

Also, Buffett will be on Charlie Rose on PBS tonight. I do not know if his advice can help you now, but I will be hanging on every word.

Dave was for Ron Paul back in the 80's when he run as a Libertarian. He probably would have supported him this time. David Letterman is one smart man. Very few see the wisdom of Dr. Paul, but they will... and it will be faaaaaaaaaaar too late by then:)

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:27 PM on 10/01/2008

Lots of people saw wisdom there, but he is authoritarian (pro-life) which is unacceptable. Seriously that is what ruined him, get it through your heads.

You got to ask yourself why did he face such intense blacklisting? The media, the State and the hidden corporate machine that REALLY pulls the strings. He was forced to take a pro life stance from the religious fanatics. Property rights and a plethora of other things far outweigh that one "stance". I support pro choice, but in a democracy, the majority rules. So be it. Thing is about him being blacklisted is he didn't get a chance for the majority to hear him. He made way too much sense for Big Brother, you know, the one that watches you from satellite now... You're a doofus. You are just a bug.
