David Letterman's War Against John McCain Day 4: "Good Thing John McCain Blew Me Off To Go Save The Economy"

Tuesday night, David Letterman kept his war with John McCain raging strong, weaving another McCain joke into his monologue (that's 4 shows in a row, not counting the Friday show which was seemingly pre-taped earlier in the week).

"Yesterday the stock market...suffered its biggest one-day drop in history....And I'm telling you, boy, it's a good thing John McCain blew me off to go save the economy. Thank god is all I can say!"

I remember an incident years ago when Goodyear reneged on a deal to use the blimp for an anniversary show. Someone in Goodyear management obviously hated the show and wanted no part of associating their brand with Dave. The day after they backed out, Dave had his "Annual Tire Test" where a Goodyear and Goodrich tire were "tested" side by side. The tires stated to rotate and the Goodyear tire burst into flames. The next day Goodyear changed their minds and the blimp ride was a go.
I believe it was Mort Saul who once said "There is no defense against comedy." Letterman will keep this up forever. He won't get mad, he'll get even.

Note to UltraClass­ic......Mi­llions of people enjoy and respect the intelligence and fun of Letterman's humor. McSame made a Huge Mistake by lying to the man and leaving him with a whole show and no other scheduled guests when Mcsame could have been there - just chose not to. Just another Mcsame lie to add to the list. Letterman has every right to be annoyed and to use his humor to express himself. That's what he is paid to do!
