Elisabeth Hasselbeck Fumbles When Asked Why Sarah Palin Would Make A Good President On "The View"

"The View" heated up over politics again Wednesday morning, specifically around the subject of Sarah Palin's readiness to be President.

"She doesn't know anything about it!" Whoopi Goldberg said, which set off co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

"In terms of experience, she's actually been leading a microcosm of the United States of America," Elisabeth responded.

Things heated up even more after Elisabeth took a swipe at Joe Biden, prompting Barbara Walters to say, "Every single day you never ever say, maybe there's another point, so this is your chance....Tell us now why you think that Sarah Palin would make a very good President."

Elisabeth's response? "Tell me why Barack Obama is qualified to be President."

Watch as Elisabeth eventually puts together a list which includes "she has been in charge of the National Guard during a time of war":

I just don't understand how Republicans can defend McCain's pick for VP. If he cares about the country why didn't he pick somebody more qualified? He wants to win at any cost and I don't think he even likes Palin himself. His body language is very tense around her. We are losing the war because it has contributed to bankrupting our country. 8 years of Bush were more destructive than Osama Bin Laden could have ever been. The Dems need to step it up. if you can tell me exactly what that means, i've got an entire ACTIVE DUTY ARMY paycheck (what little we get) you can have. it's pure BS. she thinks if she connects herself to the military (though she never chose to serve- huh, interesting that so many of those wanting more war never picked up a rifle themselves...) that she sounds patriotic. a governor has NOTHING to do with 'commanding' the national guard. she's a figurehead. she's no more influential in the decision-making process of deploying the national guard, securing its funds, or ensuring the safety of its servicemembers than average 'joe sixpack' (i'm gonna use that until it's dead).

I've only seen clips of The View on HuffPo - I've never seen the actual show on television. But the EH clips make me sick to my stomach, literally. And while I understand that Walters was trying to be polite by saying "we love having you on the show, we love your counter opinions," I highly doubt she loves it. I'm sure that there are more intelligent and better-informed conservative women out there (just as cute and perky, if that's what's required) who can assume EH's role and contribute a whole lot more in terms of intellectual and rational debate.

If Walters' thought was that Hasselback would grow up like Lisa Lim did, she was wrong. Hasselback has not grown in her thinking, and she has had enough time. She can be conservative and have her views she just needs to be able to back them up...I hope the View "Masters," will come to their senses and replace her pronto, as she is becoming a costly liability.

All the symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, all of 'em. The second you challenge their shallow, poorly thought out position which they gleaned from someone else, (usually a powerful person they respect) they go into rabid wolverine mode and just babble for the sake of saving face. It doen't have to make sense.
