Elisabeth Hasselbeck

"The View" heated up over politics again Wednesday morning, specifically around the subject of Sarah Palin's readiness to be President.

"She doesn't know anything about it!" Whoopi Goldberg said, which set off co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

"In terms of experience, she's actually been leading a microcosm of the United States of America," Elisabeth responded.

Things heated up even more after Elisabeth took a swipe at Joe Biden, prompting Barbara Walters to say, "Every single day you never ever say, maybe there's another point, so this is your chance....Tell us now why you think that Sarah Palin would make a very good President."

Elisabeth's response? "Tell me why Barack Obama is qualified to be President."

Watch as Elisabeth eventually puts together a list which includes "she has been in charge of the National Guard during a time of war":

From ABC, 10/1

I am GLAD that i am gay and not a stupid-butt heterosexual male that has to cozy up to the likes of Elizabeth H.

After the GOP has ruined our economy and the environment and sent our soldiers to death, you think that it's liberals who need apologists??

I think she stays on the show because her husband can't hold down a job and she has kids to support.

I applaud the View for its commitment to maintaining a table of diverse women with diverse opinions but I cannot stand Elisabeth Hasselbeck. When there's such extensive history of examples of Republican double-speak I'm amazed she hasn't learned how to tell a coherent lie by now. I have yet to see her back up any of her opinions with effective nonsense. She attaches really very unintelligent reasoning to all types of ideas and this is what makes her a bore. How she feels passionate about things that don't even make sense makes even less sense to me. It seems like she's more anxious to be caught up with identifying as a victim where everybody else is always pouncing on her rather than any kind of level-headed weighing of facts and ideas. Poor poor Elizabeth. She's such a bore!

Rumor was that EH was going to Fox News because she was tired of being the only conservative on the show. Reportedly her publicist says she's staying put, saying she enjoys the squabbling. Let's face it, if she left, they'd have to select another young conservative chick to show they were a balanced show. After all ABC isn't Fox, where being balanced is not their concern.

I agree. A good sign a panel is fair and balanced is to have five wing-nuts and one conservative.

Actually Elizabeth would fit right in at Fox because they would have a young mind they can manipulate and corrupt !
Have you ever noticed that there are two things Republican's share in common 1. the ability to tell the same lie over and over again with a straight face and believe the lie themselves and 2.the inability to think outside the box independently !

That's right doggonit! Get her off the show! I'm with you on this, I don't like to hear any other opinions other than my own and those who differ from us ought to be fired or made to shut up..

I LOVE that all she has to say is those lame talking points. She's led a mircocosm of America? First of all, how is Alaska a micrcocosm of America, and how is being the "leader" a better qualification than being a senator? They can't answer those questions.

She led a national guard during a time of war? lol...this is my favorite, because she hadn't done ANYTHING with it AT ALL. When asked about Iraq, she said she hadn't really followed it because it's not a state issue. How'd THAT go over with her national guardsmen in the line of duty? What kind of leadership is THAT during a time of war?

I can't believe there are still people saying she's qualified. What will it take for some to be be convinced? And this is why you see all the attacks on Barack Obama. They can't defend their record, so the only thing left is to make the "better us than them" argument. That's weak, and I'm so glad the American people aren't buying it this time around.

I noticed no one answered Elizabeth's question as to what makes Barrak Obama qualified to be president. Everyone keeps saying Palin is one heartbeat away from the job but fails to acknowlege that Obama will be zero heartbeats away if elected and I have yet to hear anyone question his qualifications since his nomination. During the primaries Hillary Clinton pointed out very clearly John McCain's qualifications over Obama's. And let's not forget his own running mate stated that Barrak Obama was NOT qualified to be president of the United States. Obama has logged exactly 143 working days in the senate and feels that he is ready to run the country!!! How rediculous is that!!! I don't know of any other job that only requires 143 days before you are eligible to become CEO. Elizabeth is the only one on The View who actually knows what she is talking about.

How many jobs allow you to spend 20% of your time on vacation, like Bush has done?
In his years as a Senator Obama has made several official trips around the world, and created legislation regarding climate change, voter fraud, energy independence, and universal health care. For years before being a Senator he served as a state legislator. Sarah Palin has been governor of Alaska for two years. Before that she failed in a cmpaign to be lieutenant governor after serving as mayor of a town with almost 5,000 people. So she has much more national experience...?

Also, go ahead and say that EH is the only conservative on the View or the only one with completely absurd ideas that you agree with, but if you listen to her you can absolutely not say that she knows what she is talknig about. Just look at her flat-Earth rant a few months ago if this isn't enough for you.

How much of this created legislation by Obama was actually passed? I don't recall hearing of anything he has been a part of that has had any positive impact in our government. I'm sure if there were any, the intelligent, liberal ladies of The View would have let us know. Instead of comparing Obama to Sarah Palin, try comparing him to John McCain and decide who is better qualified to be President. That is the real question. I have never been a McCain fan and did not vote for him in the primary but when it comes to comparing the two, McCain wins hands down over Obama. Funny you should mention voter fraud. I wonder which side of the legislation Obama was on considering his connections with ACORN.

Just wait until Monday. EH will have nothing but praise for Palin and say she answered all the questions great. Just wait. Joy & Whoopi will tell the truth.

Amen, Harriet. Why they had a rerun after one of the most anticipated debates in our lifetime is beyond me. They lost a big ratings day because even cable news shows report the spats they have on The VIEW. I think EH is paid by the GOP because Republicans NEVER do anything wrong and Dems. can do little right. Thank God for Joy because she has the facts always straight while EH always has some memorized info but no follow-up info.
Still, I look forward to it anyway because it's interesting to watch.

Friday's show was not a rerun. The View pre-tapes the Friday show on Thursday.

First of all Hasselbeck is incoherent. Palin is no expert on anything. She has a B*s* degree in communications in which she must have slept her way through. Secondly, Palin is not expert for I have never heard her geological expertise on the composition of the earth. Nor has she ever lead anything but her foot in her mouth just like Hasselbeck. Have you notice that when they corner those repubrats they cannot say one thing abou their candidate? The are sheep.

Elizabeth can't make a coherent argument for Sarah, because she's not coherent. Neither is Sarah. Can you imagine an entire country composed of people like Elizabeth and Sarah? Oy!

EH repeats what she hears her party say. When she has the podium to prove anything, she's dumbfounded.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck claims Governor Palin is an energy expert. But Palin's arguments for drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge contradict fact and appear either to continue the spin, deception, and disregard for scientific evidence we have seen during the past 8 years, or to reveal a troubling unawareness of fact.
[8/29/08, CNBC's “Closing Bell with Maria Bartiromo”]

Because Energy Security is Palin's signature issue, backed by years of close-up experience, it may be the only subject on which there can be robust debate without its being characterized as taking unfair advantage of her, and so is a rare opportunity for the public to evaluate her approach to governing, her concern for vulnerable people, and her handling of scientific evidence.

Her reliance on more oil as a key in moving toward energy security raises the question: Does Governor Palin have a grasp of our petroleum resources/demand ratio, or of current green technology and energy efficiency -- in short, the vision -- to help us transition swiftly from our dangerous dependency on oil? Fareed Zakaria has written, citing the Pentagon-tasked Winning the Oil Endgame: "We don't need a Manhattan Project to find our way out of our current energy trap. The technologies already exist. But what we're searching for is perhaps even harder -- political leadership and vision."

The governor of Alaska is not in charge of the National Guard. That' s why it's called the NATIONAL guard not the STATE National Guard. How is she an energy expert? Her mantra is drill drill drill. As for Hassleback, keep screeching ,if she's representative of a Palin supporter then any rational person will know who to vote for.

Lets see, the entire country tuned in to VP debate just to see if she would completely collapse and go running off stage crying because she could not answer simple questions like Couric asked her. How ridiculous that we would even think that someone like her could be PRESIDENT!! Yea, she made it thru without crying...let's elect her VP and put her a heartbeat away from the Presidency!!

I agree bluekatz and a good part of the reason is that the Republican's are keeping her away from the media as much as they possibly can so she can't totally sink their chances in November

Liz is typical of a pre-menopausal , fake blonde "losing it" over increased taxation. I mean, what's a girl to do? She needs all her $700 shoes and the maids to shine and clean them. ..not to mention hideaways to stash a few million for her future nips and tucks ....if she ages anymore within the next half a year, I seriously believe she'll have a nuclear meltdown leaving only her wretched broom.
