Elisabeth Hasselbeck

"The View" heated up over politics again Wednesday morning, specifically around the subject of Sarah Palin's readiness to be President.

"She doesn't know anything about it!" Whoopi Goldberg said, which set off co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

"In terms of experience, she's actually been leading a microcosm of the United States of America," Elisabeth responded.

Things heated up even more after Elisabeth took a swipe at Joe Biden, prompting Barbara Walters to say, "Every single day you never ever say, maybe there's another point, so this is your chance....Tell us now why you think that Sarah Palin would make a very good President."

Elisabeth's response? "Tell me why Barack Obama is qualified to be President."

Watch as Elisabeth eventually puts together a list which includes "she has been in charge of the National Guard during a time of war":

Obama/Biden is my ticket, but you have to admit everyone on this video comes across as uninformed and unsophisticated. Hasselback is the only one who actually appears to have some calm about her, even though she's dead wrong. Please, if you're going to support the winning side, make the other look bad with facts, not unchecked emotion. Otherwise, you're just as much a pig with a different shade of lipstick on.

BarackSwan, you have to admit that Whoopi does come with some fact, she tells it like it is.

Calm? I thought she was about to pop a vein in her neck!

What Elisabeth Hasselbeck fells to realize is that once these politicians get elected they don't think no more about her today than they did yesterday. We all get mad and angry over something we can't even do anything about. After the election on November 4, the media as well as the campaign committees cheat and put in office who they want. So please let Elisabeth run her own blood pressure! I promise you, if her butt falls out, I want be there to pick her dizzy butt up.

Hasselbeck is so useless, she tries to be like Anne Coulter.
Why is she even on the show? A reality show contestant? Barf.

Because if she wasn't on the show, what would you have? 5 babbling liberals, and no audience, just like every other time liberals try to compete in the world of ideas.

Since when is "The View" anywhere near "the world of ideas"? It's a chat show for housewives.

Then again, next to "The Factor," it's a regular Ph.D. seminar...

She was not in charge of the National Guard. She may have had them under her bureaucracy. But even the Alaskan National Guard said she had NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. Same with NORAD. Anytime she tries bringing experience to the table on military aspects it comes across as trite. It would be like a QB's girlfriend saying she knows everything about the team just cause she's bagging the the Star. Oh wait... she can see Russia from her house so ... i guess by that logic it works. But that's not logic. It's idiocy.

Palin has LIED AND LIED over again about the brifge to no where , national guard, road to no where and so many other items thatOberman had to write a nice check because he said he would pay a $100 for each lie Palin stated.

I am not sure of the amount but the stupid thing was that Palin kept repeating the lies over and over again for weeks even after she was caught by the newspapers and most nes shows.

Keith quit keeping count so would not have to continue paying.

Palin has NO respect for other humans because her lies were so blatant that she thought everyone was a dummie and blind.

Most severe EGO MANIACS have this problem and often never get treatment for it. Beside the ego part there is a JEALOUS part of Palin that goes along with her.

If you think i am being mean then as anyone that has met a excessive liar that is sick and cannot control themselves.

Good choice Mc Cain if you get in iam running out of this country. I knwo many others that are doing the same.

Oh boy did they pile onto that poor girl! I so often hear about ‘Orally’ piling onto guests. I’ve heard about ‘trolls’ like him not listening; but not one of Ms. Hasselbeck’s co-hosts listened to her.

The hypocrisy and illogic that’s become so common on left and right troubles and frustrates me greatly:

Some despise O’Reilly for name-calling, losing his temper and generally loving the sound of his own ranting voice. They’re ranting at him and at people who they’ve decided are unintelligent and unworthy of having their words considered, of the courtesy of being spoken to with respect. They’re ranting at those with whom they disagree…for ranting at those with whom they disagree;

Some put down Sen. Clinton – reducing her credentials for presidency to ‘wife of a former president’. These same people aggrandized Sen. Obama’s community organizing, civil rights legal career, Conlaw professorship and IL/US senate experience;

Some describe Gov. Palin’s experience as a mayor and as head of the executive branch in her state – balancing budgets, commanding the national guard, with appointment powers (including many judges), with a role in legislation, and with at least partial control over pardoning and commuting sentences – with unqualified contempt. Not likely that, were these accomplishments listed on Sen. Obama’s resume, they would be scorned.

To anyone who has (and likely will again) call me a ‘Limbaugh/McBushie troll’: As an Independent, black woman who grew up poor, I am fascinated to topple an edifice of stereotypes.

At this point one's experience is part of the resume but not the be all or end of getting the position. When one opens her mouth and can't explain anything or BS's her way thru a debate after cramming, that about sums up how prepared she is for the job.

There's more to the presidency and the global initiative than how many years you were mayor, governor, community organizer or Senator. You must be able to understand the complexities of cultures, economics, history, law, people and much, much more.

I'm a veteran and there are some generals that wouldn't be qualified to be presidents to me.

Dear Harriettubman :-)

Both of my parents are Vietnam veterans, and I would like to say, with all due respect: Thank you for your service.

I know that Gov. Palin has not acquitted herself well in interviews (and not much better in her debate with Sen. Biden). Appearances are everything.... Well, at least, they're all we - voters - have to make our decision about the capabilities of the candidates.

But may I also say, regarding your doubt of Gov. Palin's grasp of history: Presidential historian, Doris Kearns Goodwin (don't know if you're familiar with her; she often visited with Tim Russert on _Meet the Press_) met with Gov. Palin during a convention or conference whose topic was Pres. Abe Lincoln. The historian described the governor as warm, well read and fun.

I know that the above description does not jibe with most of what we've seen from the governor, and I don't judge anyone negatively for having serious doubts due to what they've seen thus far from Gov. Palin (not to mention her recent guilt by association pronouncements). But I've heard of stage fright. I've even experienced it.

Nor could she pronounce IRAQ.

It's "ih-RAHK," not "eye-RACK."

For God's sake, if we're going to occupy a country, the least we can do is learn how to pronounce its name.

If you didn't see the show.....Whoopi was trying to convey that, NO one has experience to be President of the United States...because they have never been in that position before. They really don't know until they actually are in that position. Lizzie disagreed, saying Palin was experienced, and had the most experience of McCain, Obama, or Biden.

She can never give a reason or example....so she attacks the opposing party......If she knew anything about anything.....she would be able to discuss the subject like an adult, instead of a screaming like an unruly brat adolescent. You cannot live life only watching and learning from Fox News.

The other ladies on The View will at least call a spade a spade.....if they don't agree with, say, something Obama or Biden says or does....they say it.......Lizzie has to be right all the time, never caring if she hurts or offends someone.....and feels McCain & Palin are ALWAYS 150% right.

No one is right all the time.....and if they think they are....something is wrong...there’s nothing wrong with making mistakes in life.....we learn and grow from them....it doesn't make you a bad person. It’s inevitable in life to be wrong some times.

Did John McCain lead a brigade? I don't know that he did in the Viet Nam war. He did crash a plane -- 5 planes as a matter of fact.
I don't believe he dishonored his country while serving as POW, but there were hundreds of other people who were fully as "heroic" as McCain. He was captured and had no choice but to do what he did. He did serve his country under very trying conditions, but that is no more than many others did.
He earned his medals for contributing "significantly toward the eventual abandonment of harsh treatment by the North Vietnamese, which was attracting international attention" -- this from the Navy's commendation to him, but there are many who argue whether he actually deserved these medals. I don't know about that, others who are more knowledgable of what actually happened can argue that.

Quite honestly....she is a perfect example of the under 50 y.o. mccain supporter....so I am very glad she gets televised regularly...because it really shows exactly the mindset and the sort of bizarre contradictory rationalizations a (too) large number of americans make in order to steadfastly support horrible politicians....it explains a lot about this country...what it has become...and what it is about to leave behind....

can someone please explain to me how you can make both the argument that Governor Palin isn't qualified to be a VICE President and also that Barak Obama is qualified to be THE President?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:01 PM on 10/03/2008

THAT...was the argument Whoopi was trying to convey...that NO ONE was qualified.....not until they experience the position.

His experience as a Senator is more substantiative than hers as Gov of Alaska.

BUT - more importantly, Obama was voted for by the people, over 20 million people for that matter, to be the representative of the Dem party. He won the nomination. He's the people's choice - that's democracy. 20+ million people think he has the experience.

McCain had the chance to pick whomever he wanted with whatever level of experience and he chose her. Who even knew who she was before that???

Bad choice - she's a dime a dozen - all fluff, no substance.

She can't name one paper she reads, she can't name one other supreme court case besides Roe v Wade (even ones involving her own state), she mistook the President's former press secretary as the Commander of US forces in Afghanistan. She took 5 years and 4 colleges just to get an undergraduate degree. She believes climate change isn't man made. She overuses the word Maverick. Simply put she is uninformed.
Obama on the other hand is well informed on all issues. He has the information and knowledge base to make decisions, she does not.... Simple. So simple even a "Joe six pack" like yourself could understand>

I'd really like Huffington Post to STOP reporting on what Hassleback believes. It's the same as listening to Chuck Norris' views on Larry King. Just because some TV producer selected her pretty face for a talk show is no reason for a thoughtful publication like this to give her any space--despite how cheap space is on the Web!

And you're playing to the cat-fight/car-wreck crowd.

I am constantly amused that shes lasted on the View this long.. not because they want her off but because she seems so upset all the time and unable to really express herself in any logical form . She may be Palins illegitimate daughter , now that I think about it . The debate last night put the lid on the questions for me as far as Palin being a heart beat away from the President . That would be a catastrophe . The woman is nothing more than what she has said she is , a hockey mom , and thats not good enough to be running for VP of anything . Please folks , wake up , see the danger here and for your country Vote Democratic .
