Leo, Ellen, Halle And More Celebs' New Message: Don't Vote (VIDEO)

NEW YORK - How do you get kids to vote? Just say no.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Halle Berry, Jennifer Aniston, Tobey Maguire, Eva Longoria Parker and other stars are using reverse psychology to get young people into voting booths on election day.

In a new public service announcement that hit YouTube and other online outlets Wednesday, DiCaprio says: "Please -- just don't vote." Others echo his plea: "Don't vote."

But the stars soon twist the message: Voting is a civic duty and the only way to effect change.

"I mean, seriously, ... after this whole video -- if you're not gonna vote, I don't even know what to say. ... You know you have to vote," says DiCaprio, who produced the PSA.

Also appearing: Ellen DeGeneres, Forest Whitaker, Dustin Hoffman, Demi Moore, Sarah Silverman, Jonah Hill, Ashton Kutcher, Courteney Cox, Laura Linney, Natalie Portman, Jamie Foxx, Usher, Kyra Sedgwick and will.i.am.

I hate people who assume young people don't vote, or care. Don't forget about what the Kenyon College "kids" did until 4am in the 2004 election..­. they waited for up to THIRTEEN hours to vote. My sister was one of them. She met the girl who cast the last ballot, and she voted for Kerry.

it's not just these actors. BET has been televising voter registration drives and have been getting a great response. I took voter registration forms to the football field during an all day football event and while most adults were already registered a few young people came up and said they were planning on it but hadn't gotten around to it. And i think that's it; a lot of people think it's more cumbersome than it really is.

I have met a lot of young people during the past two weeks who are not registered to vote and don't plan on voting, usually for the most unbelievably stupid reasons. I know there are a lot of young people who have expressed a liking for Obama, but will they vote? Some will, but many will not.

The main reason the youth vote doesn't vote is 1. They've been raised to believe it doesn't matter and that the wealthy elites will throw the election in their favor anyway, and 2. When they try to vote, right wingers target them and try to find whatever they can to prevent them from voting. It's not because celebrities do it or tell them to do it, they'll vote if they're pissed off enough to stop caring about that other stuff, or they'll do it if this country would let them do it easier and more securely. Mail-in ballots should be the norm in every state.

You all know by know I am not the silent type. I speak my mind, and try with the powers of persuasion to get people to at least consider all possibilities, options and scenarios. Well, here is one, if we don't vote, we have no voice. This is our chance to be seen and heard. We might not like everything a candidate says, but at least if they are on our wavelength, we have somewhat of a chance. Tonight, my candidate voted on something I completely disagree with on all levels. I know what he voted on was wrong. But here is the thing, I decided after calming down, I have to vote. If I don't, I can't bitch and whine later one. I spent my night last night talking to registered voters to convince them to go to the polls and speak out. I took the time to discuss the issues with them, thier concerns, listen to them. ya know what? I converted McCain voters to vote Obamma, and people who were undecided to make a choice. Just vote. Thier voices will be heard, but not if we all don't get out the vote on Nov. 4th. Its a chance, its a step in the right direction. Even baby steps count. Just vote already.

Yet these celebs are supposed to be addressing America's youth with their edifying language, which by the way, is forbidden usage by drill sergeants in basic training and in the leadership schools of the armed forces.

I am not into celebrities but most of my friends are (unfortunately). However, I made the decision to send this ad asking friends if they have 5 friends. If this is what it will take for young people to have some interest in the election, then I am taking advantage of it. This country needs to do better. Peace!
