Colbert Comes Full Circle

On October 17, 2005, Daily Show correspondent Stephen Colbert launched his own spin-off show called The Colbert Report, and inaugurated what has become a beloved (and damned sharp) regular feature called "The Wǿrd." The first outing (transcribed here) established Colbert's "Truthiness" as part of the modern political lexicon, showing how fact and reality have of late become blurred and obscured by those with a specific political agenda (and let's just leave it at that).

Almost three years later, Colbert delivered another Wǿrd with surprisingly similar themes, this time about rewriting the present using "facts" about the future: "Breaking News: It's official, Hillary Clinton's 2012 Presidency is responsible for destroying the economy four years ago." It's a striking similarity. Check it out below — looks like if anyone should be reporting the news of the future, it's Stephen Colbert.
