I Like ItI Don’t Like It

John Harwood of the New York Times and CNBC relays some grim news for Republicans tonight on MSNBC:

Look, I talked to a senior Republican member of Congress tonight who says he thinks the election has basically been lost over the last couple of weeks, that Republicans elsewhere in House and Senate races are also dropping, that this is looking to be a very very unfavorable election for them. So Sarah Palin can be part of the solution, if she can turn that around, stop the bleeding, whatever you want to call it, but they're in a very very difficult box right now.

Yeah, and they both lie with utmost confidence, looking so pretty in pink .

and if you remember not too long ago, people found that Bush too could connect to people.

George Bush and Palin are the same, McCain is their combined ghost.

She also said we shouldn't talk to those people who "hate our freedom." ok, she put an "s" on it - hate our freedoms, but it was another amazing "channeling 'W'" moment. Scary.

"How long have I been at this, like five weeks?"

There's your quote of the debate.

Poor Republicans - no more White House.

Palin didn't help with her debate performance. She used the same old buzzwords she's been using for the last month. She even admits she really only has 5 weeks experience.

Next to Biden, she looked Vice Presidential (of the PTA).

When she said that "5 weeks" that was it for me. At least she admitted it. You can tell the woman has been studying hard though.

I learned more about Biden tonight than I ever knew. The man is a vessel of executive and legislative knowledge; been a single parent; is in touch with common folk; and his foreign policy knowledge is nothing anyone can touch!!! He gave a definitive insight into Jewish/Palestinian conflicts and knows what to do. He and Obama make a great team for this country. I can't wait to see who they sit down at the table of diversity with.

It will be exciting to see both begin to work on the problems that affect this country too. I believe race relations will improve; poor and middle classe people will be able to pick up their boots again and the wealthy won't be robbed. What hope to look forward to in this team!!! I'm hoping the U.S. will no longer be a house divided but a house united and really the greatest country in the world for everybody and not just a few.

I would have loved to see Joe Biden unleashed. But I know his constraints were important.

His depth on each issue was so refreshing. He literally made me very proud!
And I literally think that he will speak his mind without ever compromising what is right for our country!
Im looking fwd to seeing both Obama and Biden in that White House making some changes and kicking some behinds.

As far as McCain and Palin are concerned-one claims to be a hero(heroes rarely do), one can't name a magazine/or a news resource. We will be better off if they never show up....anywhere.

After the election the Republicans will have to do some real soul searching and drum the haters out of the to upper echelons of the GOP. Start with Karl Rove and his proteges, Newt Gingrich, Tom Delay, Dick Cheney, George Bush, and cult of the perpetual lie. One can only hope that that works if you value a two party system.

Hey now- let's not insult the PTA like that.

On the Rovian stink of it all...I hope I'm wrong, because in spite of her incompetence, no one deserves this, but I sincerely fear for the safety of her son in Iraq (beyond his already impossible mission). Everytime I think they couldn't sink any lower, they do. I do have a skewed sense of hopelessness being mired in Texas, where believe it or not, there are plenty of Bush boosters, still... Go figure.

I've been arguing for years that we should sell Texas back to Mexico. Should get a decent price for it, and just think of the benefits of having all that taken off our hands.

Somebody also suggested selling Alaska (with built in leadership) back to Russia for, like, $700 billion.

Hey, we fought off Mexico fair and square so you're stuck with us! We're not ALL backwoods yokels - just most of us. But don't worry - most of my folk will eventually come around.

Don't fear for her son. It's been reported that he's going to be the commander's driver in Iraq. I use to date a guy who did just that. He's not in any danger. Have you heard of any commanders being killed like the regular troops? Nope.

I hope he's right. In the meantime, I'm steeling myself for a post-VP-debate bounce. Palin, despite making mistakes the few times she tried to talk specifics, didn't sound as bad as during her Couric interview. She answered almost no questions, but looked good doing it. That will probably sway some voters, at least for a few days.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:57 PM on 10/02/2008

The bounce will disappear once people really look at what she said. She is a nuthin' muffin.

I am visiting my Grandma in Ventura CA. She lives in a retirment community and I'm sure voter turnout is big here. Driving through yesterday and today I have seen at least 15 houses with Obama/ Biden yard signs and no McCain signs. When I was here for 2000 all you saw were Bush/Chaney signs. Her neighbors have all said they were supporting Obama. This is a very good thing.

I think there will be a pretty good Republican turnout for the Obama/Biden ticket. Republican senior citizens have seen their party turned into something that they don't recognize; their championing of fiscal responsibility is a thing of the past. My grandparents were Republicans and I can guarantee, if they were alive today, that they would be very embarrassed about what the Republicans have done in the last eight years. The Republican party is going to have to reinvent itself in a very big way come Nov. 5th.

Yeah, Ventura County, much like Orange County, is very much a Republican stronghold. The main exception being the city of Oxnard.

However, you are right in that I have seen more Obama signs and stickers than McCain.
