We do need poll watchers. Please get out & volunteer. Check and see at the election office in your area, can you volunteer that day. We need honest people at the polls.

Don't you people have any laws. In Canada, if someone tried to "send operatives into polling stations" they'd be arrested.
And Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands and any other 'free' nation!
This isn't the only reason we need poll-watchers.
Republicans plan to send operatives into polling stations to challenge voters whose addresses have ended up on foreclosure lists. The plan is to suspend those votes until the addresses are confirmed as being in the district. They figure that if the voter has recently had to move out of the district due to a foreclosure, and is just coming back to vote at their old polling place, they can get that vote thrown out.
This is a prime example of Republicans using our laws against us. There REALLY is nothing wrong with voting in one's old district, if one simply hasn't had time to re-register; but yes, it's technically not kosher to do so. The law was intended to counter the venerable practice of busing voters from district to district to vote in them all -- not to rook valid voters out of their vote.
These people (Karl Rove, and the lobbyists running the Republican campaign) don't have morals worth calling such. They have no compunction about warping the intent of the law, to cheat unfortunate home owners out of their right to vote.
We need watchers to watch the watchers. Take a day off work, and take notes.
Please everyone volunteer on election day so this doesn't happen. Funny for Homer Simpson, not so funny for real.

Please remember that the EXACT same machines that were used the last time around are being used this time around. When the ACLU requested Diebold for the source code on these voting machines they were told that it was an issue of "national security" and that the code could not be examined or studied. I used to be something of an engineer and as I recall computers will only do what they are told. Strange how during the last election there were counties which had voted Democratic since the dawn of our nation and all of them had GW as the winner by EXACTLY 5%. All of them. There were reports of people saying that they had voted for John Kerry and that the machine recorded their vote as one for BUSH. Americans have done nothing to change this scenario and here we are 4 years later - meet the NEW BOSS same as the OLD BOSS. Or in this case, meet the old boss same as the old boss. What the heck? There are many other versions of Democracy throughout the world that are slightly better at being … well … democratic.
How can a democracy ‘work’ if only about 20% of the population vote?
Make voting compulsory, allow people to have postal and absentee votes and vote on a Saturday and not a Tuesday when most people have to work.
Oh and don’t chastise your fellow citizens for questioning the policies of your Prez … its not being ‘UnAmerican’ … its being a good democratic citizen.
Ironically your founding fathers deposed one King only to replace him with one by another name. He may not wear a crown but he does get to fly in Air Force 1.
