John McCain was joking around on Morning Joe earlier today about gambling on the baseball playoffs and let loose a verifiably false claim, saying "I'm not a rich man."

Now I know he just trying to say he wasn't a good sports bettor, but if he can fun around, so can I.

So here's the result -- a video, reminding John McCain exactly how rich he really is:

That's right John, a rich man would own more than the paltry eight houses you have....

In a country where and at a time when good people are losing their homes, their livelihoods and their futures, it tells me everything I need to know about McCain that he has the unmitigated gall to joke about 'not being rich' when he is by every benchmark except maybe those of Bill Gates and the Saudi royal family. That anyone can actually want this man to lead this country stuns and frightens me.

McCain is not a rich man, but he is married to a fantastically rich woman and has lived that lifestyle for more than twenty years. 'Nuff said!

I got into an argument with a Republican about this. He said " Why are you anti-rich? People who work hard for their money deserve to keep it! It doesn't make them bad people and they fuel the economy"

You know, I am not against working hard and getting money for it. But people like John and Cindy McCain did not lift a finger to get their money- they inherited or married into it. I just don't think they deserve credit for that. Also, if you're rich, you're rich- but just ADMIT IT - don't expect me or the American people to be so stupid as to think that you are not rich when your income for one year is more than many entire families will see in a lifetime of work and you are driving one of your 13 cars or flying your private plane to one of your 7 houses. How patronizing and obnoxious can you get...

This is a standard response from conservatives: "Class warfare! Class warfare!" Of course, there is nothing wrong with being rich. Most Americans want to be rich, or would like to be better off, and many of them see the government as an impediment to improving their situation.

At the same time, there's the populist sentiment that fat cats are out of touch with ordinary Americans. McCain is trying to have it both ways: as a conservative, you should be able to make money and keep most of it; as a so-called maverick, he's going to stand up against the big boys and the "special interests" and "out-of-touch elitists."

Obama is financially well-to-do, if not wealthy; but it's clear he's the real deal. He understands what average Americans are going through and remembers his own humble roots.

So there's nothing wrong with being rich, but if your policies favor only rich people, well, that's something else.

The idea that generation after generation inherits wealth does not allow for an equal playing field for all Americans no matter how you try to cut it. I think when people die a good part of their estates should be taxed and go back to the people. Enough wealth should be allowed to be passed on so that the incentive to be productive is not destroyed. But, people living off of already created Estates deters productivity too. A balance is needed. Death tax should be increased so that wealth does not stay isolated in just a few rich families, the playing field is more equal and more resouces are available to the next generation based upon merit not DNA.

Even by his own inflated standards defining a rich person as starting at five million dollars he puts many in the shadows. And Arizona is a community property state.

His perspective is wrong. He's always been in the lap of luxury (except time spent as POW, I know). Born in to great wealth and still there today, he has not a clue what poor is, what not having a job is like, how it feels to be sick and not have the best medical attention. McCain is out of touch with 90% of American's.

Nuts, You're not a rich man? You're married to a rich woman and in my book that makes you a rich man. Oh yeah, you think a rich person earns a trillion dollars a year so that makes you a poor man.
