Palin At Debate Refuses To Answer Question

A strange moment in the debate, where Sarah Palin refuses to answer if her ticket would have to pull back on some campaign promises in light of the financial crisis.

Ifill: "As Vice President, there's nothing you've promised as a candidate that you would take off the table because of this financial issue?"

Palin: "There is not, and how long have I been at this? Like five weeks?"

I did not watch the debates. I knew that she would surpass her miserable performances in recent interviews. I also knew that she did not know enough to answer in depth. The only thing that the McCain camp wanted was for her NOT TO SCREW UP and to retain the support of the base. She did this somewhat because expectations were SOOOOOO LOW. I did not watch the debates because, as a woman, I am offended that America asks so little of this woman in terms of her depth of experience, her appaling lack of knowledge, and McCain's extremely self-centered choice for selecting her as his VP. What happened last night was probably good political theater, but it was a farce. All you have to do is to ask yourself-can I see her in the White House, and if you answer in the affirmative, then all hope is lost for this country to retain its position in the world.

Pardon me but, I think the bar was lowered when we accepted Bush as qualified. The Palin attempt is the result of our apparent national low expectations.

I watched every painful minute of the debate. Palin statements are hard to follow for two reasons. A. Because she refused to answer most of the questions. So there was a disconnect between the issue in the question and the random memorized talking points she spoke. B. There was no internal coherence of thought in the scrambled syntax of the lanuage she used. Even in the memorized stuff. But her fundamental problem is her learning disability. She does not understand verbal questions. Even the most rudimentry ones. I don't think she is completely dumb, but she does have this rare disability of being incapable of understanding verbal questions.

Ya know, we were able to save a whole bunch of money up dere in Wasilla by passin (sic) on the cost of dem rape kits. I think Biden did what he had to do. He showed everyone he is more than qualified to take over as President should the need arrive. More importantly - he didn't provide one thing that they could put in the 24 hour news loop and say he condesending, he was unfair, he was talking down to her. There was plenty of opportunities - and I believe he was baited - he just didn't take the bait and for that I think he did what he needed to do!

You know it really cracks me up that the talking heads that talk about Joe six-pack - about reaching out to Joe Six Pack - don't have a clue of who Joe Six Pack is. Joe Six-Pack these days is the one that has to lower his head and tell his family that his plant closed and changes will have to be made in their lifestyle.
