Palin

In an interview aired Thursday, Sarah Palin claimed that Dick Cheney's worst act as vice president was his "duck hunting accident."

As part of Katie Couric's interview series with both VP candidates, Palin and Joe Biden were asked to name the best and worst things that Cheney has done over the last eight years. The responses stood in stark contrast, to say the least.

Biden offered a withering critique of Cheney, charging that he had "done more harm than any other single elected official in my memory in terms of shredding the Constitution," citing the vice president's promotion of "torture as a policy" and the idea of the unitary executive. Even Biden's "praise" for Cheney was brutal: "I admire his willingness to take positions that are completely contrary to popular opinion."

Flash to Palin, sporting a goofy smile: "Worst thing, I guess, that woulda been the duck hunting accident, where, you know, that was, that was an accident. And that was made into a caricature of him, and that was kind of unfortunate." (In fact, Cheney accidentally shot his friend Harry Whittington during a quail hunting trip.)

Cheney's best act, according to Palin: "[H]e's shown his support along with George W. Bush of our troops."

A meal in Iraq costs from $75 to $150 per soldier per meal!

Iraq War Profiteering by Haliburton is closely linked to Cheney!

Contrast this with the velvet-glove treatment the Pentagon has accorded Halliburton, Bechtel, and other military contractors with crony ties to Bush and Cheney.

In 2004 Pentagon auditors recommended withholding $160 million in payments to Halliburton for meals that Halliburton subsidiary KBR falsely claimed they had served to soldiers in Iraq.

Halliburton also overcharged the Pentagon $61 million for gasoline trucked into Iraq from Kuwait.

The payments were frozen briefly but then resumed, without explanation.

Halliburton employees also took $6 million in kickbacks from subcontractors. But Iraqi businesses have been frozen out of the bidding on lucrative military and reconstruction projects in Iraq.

This reflects the same level of corruption on Wall Street and must be investigated and charges brought before Congress!

mmmmmm I do not think he was hunting ducks he was hunting quail, I guess it is an honest mistake though they are both birds. But he has done far worse things then this hunting accident, but this is coming from an airhead who thinks that the VP should have more power, so what would anyone expect. Problem is when are the 30 percenters going to wake up from their Fox snooze induced coma?

To those who call Obama supporters Brown Shirts : Beating us up with tyranny, cynicism, fear, secrecy, while parading it in exceptionalism and patriotism is how McCain and Palin continue the Brown Shirt tactics of the past 8 years.

Obama supporters want out of this. We are healthy in our resistance to abuse. Those who want more must find it comfortably familiar.

If you wish to know who Sarah Palin really is then please read the article by MATT TAIBBI for Rolling Stone Magazine ... quite probably one of the finest satirical pieces this election. Please pass the link among your friends.

Thank you.

So, apparently Palin is under the impression that Cheney made a decision to shoot his friend in the face???

I mean, the question was about his best and worst decisions, right? That's what "act" still means in this context, right?

Or have the "fundamentals" of what constitutes an "act" changed? Is she saying that deciding to shoot one's friend in the face is "acting" as just a bit too much of a "Maverick"?

Sorry, I'm a little behind on the newest Newspeak.

Oh yeah, riight. IF ONLY Cheney's worst act was that stupid shooting event. Much worse than the Secret Oil Deal and the Shredding of the Constitution, just to name a couple of things he should be IMPEACHED for.

And Palin thinks VPs should have even more power!!

Duck Hunting? Either somebody didn't Duck or Cheney didn't yell "Duck" when he fired.
Hmmmm? She might be right on this one.

Has anyone checked to see if she has actually "been there with George Bush when he visited those families"? Has Bush ever held one of those meetings in Alaska.?

Right on. In her dreams. If she had met with Bush or Cheney it would be big news. As it is, the McCain people are keeping their distance from the lame duck president. I noticed the "Fargo" accent is missing. Besides my suspicions she is a narcissistic sociopath with visions of grandeur, I'm beginning to think she is exhibiting multiple personalities. Yikes!

She's only eloquent, when well prep'd ahead of time with a dozen of advisers or strategists, memorizing a list of talking point., otherwise, on impromptu dialogue, she's talking like a little girl on the defensive, pulling stupid and unsubstantive stuff off the top of her head.

I couldn't agree with you more!
Couric was probably sitting there wondering if someone had switched Palin with Tina Fey when she had looked away. It was THAT much of a joke!

Certainly looks like you knew what you were doing now. Say it ain't so, Dan. Was this in your game plan all along?

How does a country come back from this if its highest offices are so compromised. Aren't the officers themselves supposed to wield the checks and balances not the advisors and consultants?

Shooting a Republican lawyer in the face is a mistake?

Well, call me mistake prone, I guess.
