Palin

In an interview aired Thursday, Sarah Palin claimed that Dick Cheney's worst act as vice president was his "duck hunting accident."

As part of Katie Couric's interview series with both VP candidates, Palin and Joe Biden were asked to name the best and worst things that Cheney has done over the last eight years. The responses stood in stark contrast, to say the least.

Biden offered a withering critique of Cheney, charging that he had "done more harm than any other single elected official in my memory in terms of shredding the Constitution," citing the vice president's promotion of "torture as a policy" and the idea of the unitary executive. Even Biden's "praise" for Cheney was brutal: "I admire his willingness to take positions that are completely contrary to popular opinion."

Flash to Palin, sporting a goofy smile: "Worst thing, I guess, that woulda been the duck hunting accident, where, you know, that was, that was an accident. And that was made into a caricature of him, and that was kind of unfortunate." (In fact, Cheney accidentally shot his friend Harry Whittington during a quail hunting trip.)

Cheney's best act, according to Palin: "[H]e's shown his support along with George W. Bush of our troops."

Sarah Palin could...

...while away the hours, conferrin' with the flowers
consultin' with the rain.
And her head she'd be scratchin' while
her thoughts were busy hatchin'
if she only had a brain.
She'd unravel every riddle for any individ'le,
in trouble or in pain.
With the thoughts she'd be thinkin'
she could be another Lincoln
if she only had a brain.
Oh, she could tell you why the ocean's near the shore.
She could think of things she never thunk before.
And then she'd sit, and think some more.
She would not be just a nothin' her head all full of stuffin'
her heart all full of pain.
She would dance and be merry, life would be a ding-a-derry,
if she only had a brain.

Oz to "sarahcrow" -

Why, anybody can have a brain. That's a very mediocre commodity. Every pusillanimous creature that crawls on the Earth or slinks through slimy seas has a brain. Back where I come from, we have universities, seats of great learning, where men go to become great thinkers. And when they come out, they think deep thoughts and with no more brains than you have. But they have one thing you haven't got: a diploma.

Shame on Palin for that flip, ignorant and extremely careless remark about Cheney.

That shows her true colors - as in deep Red Republican. Red for the needless blood, treasure and funds that have been spilled on the follies in Iraq, Afghanistan, and a deregulated Wall Street.

She and McCain don't deserve to be on the ballot.

She just doesn't know any other things that Cheney has done.

YEP, that's all it is. That's why she couldn't answer Couric's question on what kinds of newspapers she's read.

I don't doubt that she believes it's the worst thing he has done. She doesn't read or pay attention at all to what is going on in the world. She is an empty head.

Worst thing he did, huh? It takes a lot more than a duck-hunting accident to earn a place of honor on MY dartboard.

Why am I not surprised that Palin doesn't know the difference between a duck and a quail (Quale,
if I'm trying for a cheap laugh.) The lady is a sad case.

Whether this was an accident or an act of stupidity, on the part of the Vice President, is not the big issue.

What really matters to me is the great extent he went to with trying to cover it up. As goofy as this man is, he must know that gunshot injuries are reported to law enforcement. Just might be the victim, an attorney, advised him of this, so covering it up is really not a good idea.

Cheney finally fessed up (a true show of courage) and then victim apologized to Cheney. For WHAT? Maybe for the legal advice that compelled Cheney to admit he is a bad shot and not reporting 'accidents' like this could be troublesome.

Cheney the Mob Boss..."I'm sorry I kept running into your fist with my face...did any of my blood and/or flesh get on your ring? Let me have that cleaned...".
I've never heard of a shooting victim apologize to the shooter - unless he was afraid of worse things happening to him.

Well, a rather under-reported fact of the case is that the ladies along were not married to either of the men. Nothing sells better in America than a sex scandal and God knows, Cheney wouldn't want that on his head - er, hands. Reputation.

That's absurd. Everyone one who was visiting the ranch, was there with a spouse or fiancee, except for Cheney, and a couple of the older ladies: Anne Armstong and Nancy Negley. I really don't think Cheney was having affairs with two 80 year old women. Mrs. Armstrong has since passed on.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

Palin learned her lines.

She, has the emotional and mental maturity of a twelve year old, or worse yet, that of her pregnant daughter Bristol! I don't want a VP who "WINKS" at me.

Joe Biden knew the answers.

Many of us who live in the heart of "working-class America" the America that Palin tries to connect to, I can tell you flat-out: Her folksy behavior and antics about what Alaska is like are growing ridiculously stale.

She dodged questions, redirected the subject, and clearly didn't know anything except what she was told to say. Biden obliterated her on foreign policy.

Hopefully, this throws more chips into the Obama-Biden ticket and this race will be over and we can get on to making a better America.

The Last 7 1/2 years = ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

Republican thinking: Support the troops by getting a bunch of them killed in a pointless, ill-conceived war.

OMG, that is what I have always said. I don't know how these brainless rethuglicans can ever support the party that touts they love their country, they are patriotic and love America, blahblahblah when they are quick to send Americans to war. And this war, I honestly don't understand how anyone who supported it and still supports it (mccain) can sleep at night. Over 5,000 soldiers died over a lie and yet mccain wants to talk about winning this war, we will never ever ever win this war that was started over a bunch of lies.

An A+ to Sarah Palin for avoiding answering any and every single question she's ever asked. My 3 year old son has a more comprehensive understanding of sticking to topic than this woman. It's absolutely pathetic.

How about recommending himself as the best qualified person when Bush asked him to come up with a short list of VP running mates. How about being responsible for the cost plus privatization of war through his LOGCAP and no bid contracts...How about masterminding the response to the 911 attacks from an "undisclosed location" while Bush was convienently stuck reading My Pet Goat and ordering a stand down against taking out the "jet" that hit the Pentagon...even though they watched it go from 30 miles out to 20 miles to 10 miles out and so forth. "The plane is 10 miles out. Do the orders still stand?" "Of course the order still stands. Have you heard anything to the contrary?"

When you talk of "10 miles out", this wasn't about the cruise missile that hit the pentagon. It was about the soon to come order to shoot down flight 93 over Shanksville.

This of course was shortly after he called sunray to get his "approval"

Why will no one admit this?

In one sentence ,Palin says she and "The Maverick" will demand strict oversight on Wall Street-IN THE NEXT SENTENCE...she said government should"get out of the way" of American business. Gee, how consistent!!!
