Palin's "White Flag Of Surrender" Line Falls Flat

Sarah Palin is touting the Surge, and America is apparently not that interested, according to CNN's reaction meter of Ohio uncommitted voters. Dial Line stays flat, flat, flat. Biden touts Obama's plan, the dial line shoots up. Especially at the idea of Iraqis taking responsibility. Women especially like the idea of the Iraqis spending their own money. Timetables get tepid support. Palin's accusation that Obama and Biden are waving the "white flag of surrender" sends the line plummeting.

I don't know whether to place Palin's utter pander in the category of airhead or stupidly right of Cheyney ... she suggested that America place an embassy in the middle of a million year on-going conflict between Palestine & Israel ????? The "surge" that she keeps touting is nothing more than a coverup for the fact that not enough troops were sent to Iraq at the start of this phony war. Surely there were enough after the "shock and awe" to defeat a country that did us no harm, had no navy or air force and an army that would rather run than fight. What was lacking was a sufficient number of troops for crowd control over an angry population of 20 million, sectarian fighting one another. Instead of "surge" it was just another element of a mismanaged debacle with no planning, strategy, effective tactics, logistics or exit.

Isn't the surge strategy tantemount to saying Powell was right, Rumsfeld and Cheney wrong from the outset? They were used to wars like Greneda, Nicargua and the first Gulf war. They couldn't envision how, once you unleash the dogs of war, there is no telling where the pack might go or who gets ripped. They saw themselves as real life Rambo's with script control, and a legion of stunt men. They thought it would be short and sweet followed by port and cigars in the War room. They had already enshrined themselves in the pantheon of great historical war leaders. Well, history has another pantheon of ignominius failures swallowed up by their own hubris. This wasn't the place. This wasn't the war. And these aren't the leaders. The danger is still out there, gathering strength while we have depleted our military and economy. History will show how this administration has depleted our ability to defend our principles. But then again, This administration has warped those principles beyond recognition. You know, those things that made America worth fighting for in the first place. We must restorre the Bill of Rights, habeus corpus, the rule of law. We must disavow torture and hold to account its advocates. We must restore ourselvess to the "shining city on the hill" that much of the world looked up to, instead of just another criminal state that disappears people into black holes without rights or recourse and attacks other nations on pretense and lies

The vast majority of Americans do not support the Bush foriegn policies, Iraq, Afganistan or elsewhere. McCain assures us, "There will be more wars", Iran, Russia, Syria, Pakistan or North Korea. His ambition is to be not just president but a war president. And he wants at least one of his own. How many must die for him to fulfill his ambitions? I would like to hear from some of the retired brass about McCain's desire to drive over the cliff. With, exactly, what army does he plan to wage more of these wars. Bush has nearly broken the back of our military with his, "I'll hit you before you hit me first" policy. Just as a side question; Is that a uniquely American right? Many nations might feel threatened because we have threatened them with our first strike policy. Suppose all nations took such a posture? Suppose Iran said, You're bigger then us. You're armed better then us. You have a fleet off our coast and an army next door. If we think it likely your going to attack us, we reserve the right to try and get the first lick in. The troops for McCain's "My freinds there will be more wars" will come with McCain re-instating the draft. I keep asking the MSM to tell me if my daughters will be drafted if McCain starts another war with Iran, Russia, etc... They never answer me personally nor bring it up during their "news" shows. To talk about McCain re-instating the draft would make his numbers drop to nothing so the MSM won't talk about it, the election has to appear close in order to keep us watching.

These two believe that we are winning the conflict in Iraq. This is just so pathetic. First because to believe that we are winning, you have to believe their is a clear goal to be achieved. Secondly, you must believe that whatever this goal is, it is attainable within some time frame that average people can comprehend. 100 years does not fall into this category.
Mrs Moose-illini probably believes that nuclear war is winnable as well! Not that she can pronounce the word correctly in any event. The blindness, the wind-up-toy aspect to all this is probably the best live campaign advertisement the Democrats have ever had.
The candidates for the Greater Oil Party have been accused of being disconnected from the average person's viewpoint. After all these months, and barely one month before the election, Chatty Cathy has given everyone in America proof positive that she and the Senior Senator from the Arid-zone are not only disconnected from Main Street, but these two mismatched people couldn't find Main Street in a one street town.

Palin can't even define "victory"...and that would be foregone conclusion if there was a war in Iraq...it is an occupation, and Joe Biden knows the facts as well as the issues on foreign policy, and the fact that making Iraq unstable and getting rid of the Saddam regime has emboldened Iran, and not only Ahmadinejad, but the ruling mullahs.
