Variety:

The table's set for Rosie O'Donnell's holiday-season stab at reviving the variety genre.

NBC will air "Rosie's Variety Show" live from New York on the night before Thanksgiving -- Nov. 26 -- at 8 p.m. Special, which has been in the works for months, is believed to be the precursor to a regular variety skein fronted by O'Donnell that would bow in the new year.

The hourlong event will include celebrity guests, musical acts, comedy skits and a contest both for in-studio and at-home auds, the network said. David Friedman ("Last Comic Standing," "Last Call With Carson Daly") will exec produce with O'Donnell.

"We want to show people that variety can be done in a new and inventive way for 2008," said Craig Plestis, NBC Entertainment's exec VP for alternative programming, development and specials. "We hope to do it in ways you haven't seen before. It's going to be the YouTube of variety shows.."

Rosie was the best thing to ever happen to the View. Whoopi is just ok, but Rosie made the show always interesting and funny. I never missed a show with Rosie. I hardly watch that show anymore.

Rosie O'Donnell is a Truther.
From Popular Mechanics, March 30, 2007:
******

Rosie O"Donnell, a co-host of ABC talk show The View, made comments on the show that renewed controversy over the collapse of World Trade Center 7.

While saying she didn"t know what to believe about the U.S. government"s involvement in the attacks of Sept. 11, she said, "I do believe that it"s the first time in history that fire has ever melted steel. I do believe that it defies physics that World Trade Center tower 7"building 7, which collapsed in on itself"it is impossible for a building to fall the way it fell without explosives being involved. World Trade Center 7. World Trade [Center] 1 and 2 got hit by planes"7, miraculously, the first time in history, steel was melted by fire. It is physically impossible."

She continued: "To say that we don"t know that it imploded, that it was an implosion and a demolition, is beyond ignorant. Look at the films, get a physics expert here [on the show] from Yale, from Harvard, pick the school"[the collapse] defies reason." (Watch the clip here)

There's a reason variety shows died. I predict a disaster here.

In my opinion, Rosie was different, but Elizabeth was/is also different. I can understand why Rosie was forced off the show. She was going head to head with the token Republican/ Conservative on the show. Who were they going to get rid of? It had to be Rosie. They sure weren't going to get rid of their token.

I will say that I really like Rosie, and I wish her all the best with her new show.

Congratulations Rosie on your show! You will do a great job.

Good for Rosie--she suffered enough over that weirdo Elizabeth on The View.

Damn. Rosey is wicked smart, but i can not follow her into a musical or variety show. Where is the gene for musicals located?

I meant to type "divine inclusiveness". :-)

I think it's great. I think it will be a hit. NOBODY does tv better than Miss O. She's natural and authentic and a working class natural sized momma. She's also whip smart and speaks her mind. I always feel good when I watch Rosie.

And she knows about to wear different hats. She's good at variety and I don't see this show becoming political. It's a different genre.

Oh how I love her politics, but this show, she's going to be an entertainer--a heavyset Cher dressed up as Laverne at the laundry with a chorus line of gay boys in gold lame behind her. Which is the smartest politics (diving inclusiveness) that you can get.

CanNotWait!!!!!

You are joking, right? This show will not become political? On NBC, Rosie O, and not become political., sure.
I predict flaming failure. This is a dead genre and a dead host (figuratively speaking).

Good for Rosie! Maybe she will have Donald Trump, Star Jones and her BFF Barbara Walters on to open, the show.

Seriously, what is BFF? All I can come up with is "best female friend". Is that it?

I miss ROSEANNE, but if for no other reason, she doesn't look like a typical hollywuss mannequin - agree or disagree with her politics, she at least looks closer to that of a real person without issues like anorexia or being indebted to cosmetics companies...

This isn't Roseanne - are you dumb or being funny?
