I am dismayed at Palin's debate performance and the talking head's positive response to her.
I thought she was terrible on every level. Before hand, I had actually thought she would do better.
She was mean spirited, rude, snide, smug, condescending all at once. She was completely scripted and totally unauthentic. Her outright refusal to answer questions was beyond arrogant. Her attempt to be folksy was un-presidential and just weird... winking into the camera - PLEASE! Her answers were mostly vague and unintelligible.
WHERE DOES ANYONE GET THE NOTION SHE IS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR? SHE IS MORE OF A TRIED AND TRUE POLITICAL HACK THAN ANY OF THEM. THE AIR AROUND HER STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN!
AND YET! Even the talking heads mostly seemed to be unable to be anything but blathering idiots on how great she did. They should be screaming the warnings that this woman cannot be President.
Pat Buchanan said he thought Palin had killed Biden... even while Chris Mathews was reading him a poll showing it was Biden 53 vs Palin 31. Unbelievable!
It seems that the brain dead are already resting comfortably back in their coma of support for Palin but she hasn't convinced anyone else that she could be President.
I also thought Gwen Iffel was terrible.
I thought Biden was the best that I have seen him in a debate.
This morning Buchanan was saying she was the greatest debater he had ever seen, would that make her a masterbater>

Hard not to "bat your eyes" when the ends of your bangs are hitting you right in your probably fake eyelashes. I think the stylists know exactly what they're doing, she's sweet, unthreatening, and still satisfies the far, far, right wing of the RNC. Plus, expectations of her were so low, she could hardly surprise people. I'm a feminist and makeup artist since the '70's.

Sarah uses her "sex appeal" and good looks to work the camera. She used winking as a sexual jesture which appeals to men and women alike. There are more openly gay women now than ever who are attracted to Palin along with men. She knows how to use her good looks to get what she wants. Most good looking people do. Just ask any model who will tell you the truth or watch the Tyra Banks show. Palin is after the Presidency, not the VP spot. She did McCain no good, but focused on setting herself up for the Presidency.

I was wondering why she chose to wear her hair down in the back and had new glasses with wider ear bands, probably for better reception.
I think the winking was to advance the frame. She was reading the answers from the inside of her lenses.
The sides of her eyeglasses do not match and the right side sticks out from the temple when she moves. Could that be an antenna?

I think Palin did ok, considering the bar was set so very low by her past performances. This was
exactly what the debate was Thursday night. A performance , only that and nothing more.
Joe Biden spoke without hesitation on all subjects, never hesitating. Palin was versed in Arizona
for this debate and it showed. Her winking and other folksy talk only proved she has no substance.
The fact that anyone is falling for this PTA hockey mom for vice president is so lost on me.
That is fine for Alaska I suppose or for your neighbor that you don't really talk to, but for the second highest ( and with McCain, I'm afraid to say it would be for the 1st.......this guy doesn't look or act like his health is glowing) position in the America. I want my leaders to be intelligent, and well versed. She didn't fall on my face as I thought she
might. But she is not well spoken or composed. She is hokey and pandering with the winks
and the callouts. I felt like I was in a pep rally !
It was totally inappropriate for Palin to wink. Imagine her in a room full of foreign leaders trying to wink her way through the many complex issues that we face.
Biden gave her a lesson on the VP's Senate role, sorry sweetie, you are not a Senator and we don't need you unless there is a tie.

I hadn't noticed the winking. The constant blinking I think was from either she blinks a lot when she's nervous or she needs to get her bangs trimmed so they don't poke her in the eye.
Yes she winked and that was disconcerting, but the constant batting of the eyes drove me crazy!
Okay, maybe because I'm gay - but didn't anybody else have the irresistible urge to trim her bang?

Looks to me like her bangs are too long and one of the perfectly coiffed hair spikes got in her eye. Why didn't she just brush the hair away? Maybe because it wasn't in her script.

3. WHEN SHE SPOKE SHE NEVER MADE EYE CONTACT WITH JOE BIDEN BECAUSE SHE NEVER TOOK HER EYES OFF THE TELEPROMPTER

If Biden winked, the conservatives would be accusing him of flirting with the moderator. But it's ok for Palin to wink at the entire male voting audience? Isn't THAT reverse sexism? It's ok for her, but not for him? I can't believe she thinks a wink and a pretty face will get people to vote for her.
Not only is she derailing McCain's chances, but she is ruining her own reputation as governor. McCain will lose, and i doubt Pain will be reelected as governor or anything else, including PTA president.
Both candidates made minor errors and neither made a major ‘gaff’. I don't believe it changed many peoples opinion, or for whom they would vote in November. Sitting on the fence with legs swung to the Obama side before, after, I think I now have one foot on the ground on the Obama side.
• Listen closely to Palin and notice that just like George W Bush, she pronounces certain words to with a ‘purposeful inaccuracy of pronunciation’. Like with the ‘winks’, she is trying to gain approval of the ‘down home country boys and girls’. She thinks that Cheney’s only mistake was shooting his friend, and like Cheney she wants to redefine the office of Vice President giving it more powers to which I was glad to hear Joe Biden explain that the duties and the description of the ‘VP’s job’ is already clearly defined in the constitution.
• The number of questions where Palin's response was to some other unasked question and then ran off into a ‘gimmicky sound-bite’ response which was highlighted by Palin’s response that she may not answer the questions the way they do in Washington, or the way the moderator wants, but she was going to talk to America. There was little real substance in Palin’s prattling.
• ___ Sorry Sarah; while some media pundants may be sucked in characterizing your performance as ‘Folksie’; I’d say HELL NO; she is just Dick Cheney in a skirt, with ‘cheap, well practiced, politicians tricks”.
What annoys me the most about her is that she only got this far because she's attractive. There's no substance, no knowledge there, no original thought there. She flirts, bashes, utter catchy phrases, pretends to be the average joe, and evades questions and is declared victorious. If Sarah Palin had been UGLY, uninformed, and incoherent, she wouldn't have gotten this far. The main point here being UGLY. It seems like society is still rewarding attractive people and giving them the benefit of the doubt despite all the evidence. And just because she can memorize lines and deliver them doesn't prove that she's intelligent. The real Sarah Palin is the one in the Katie Couric interview where she was forced to actually answer questions that weren't drilled to her by coaches.
