The new Palin campaign strategy: Wink, baby, wink.
The first time I noticed the 'wink thing' was the Gibson interview, with her Bush Doctrine answer. "Holy sh**, did she just wink at him?" It was hard to tell if she was actually winking, blinking or wtf? I have watched for it since then and my conjecture is that it happens when she is particularly pleased concerning answers she gives, on subjects that she is uncomfortable with or lacks knowledge about. Kind of a "there ya' go, how'd cha' like that, eh?"
It seems to be either a reactionary nervous tick or an (un)intentional? defensive response meant to win you over. If you watch closely, you'll see little ticks, without the actual wink/ blink. For me, they have become an augury for "oh-no, here come the cheerleader rah-rah talking-points" that she hides behind when she really doesn't have a clue, thus an "un-answer" and a wink-n-smile;D
If that's part of her foreign policy strategy?.
Why wouldn't she wink - it's the same silly habit John McCain has and if nothing else is juvenile and irritating.

she was looking into the camera with her eyes wide open to forcibly keep them from closing - because that's what people usually do (close their eyes) when people are trying to reach deep into the brain to remember what they crammed the night before
21 pages about her blinking too much? Not that I'm a fan of hers, or McCains, but really this is what people deem important with all the BS that is going on in this country? I thought we needed to just restructure our entire govt, but maybe we need to restructure all the citizens at the same time.

I had to TIVO past Palin as soon as she started that folksy talk and the winking. And the sound of her voice is so annoying you just want to slap her.

I had to MUTE my TV as soon as she would start in...I read the captions until Biden spoke and then I turned it up so I could listen to his every word. Sarah 'thinks' (I am using the term loosely here) she can pull off that snake charming personality of hers with the American people like she does at her crazy church and unfortunately some are falling for it. I thought Pat Buchanan was going to have an or gasm. Give me a break.
Did anyone else notice the Freudian slip? It was so perfect - Palin said McCain is the man to leave, er, lead.... That's the moment she really spoke her truth. The rest was just gibberish mixed in with a cutesy, inappropriate flirting, wink wink.
YES!! I laughed when I heard her say that. I'm hoping that will be used to full advantage by the Obama campaign.

Lighten up, Mr. Bill3. There's nothing wrong with a little humor to blow off steam about the joke that Palin is making this entire race. Lots of substantive debate about last night's performances all over the web -- if you don't like a few jokes, why don't you go looking elsewhere?
She would be a good regular guest host for SNL but not for VP.
If you watch the debate again look at the expression on her face when Biden said Drill, Drill, Drill. Her face was like the kid in class that couldn;t wait to give the right answer. She smirked, and blinked like she was sending John McCain signals from the bridge of a Navy ship. Palin shares McCains vision, unfortunately he's gone politically blind, lost his ability to hear America, if he had ever had it, and lost his way. GO SARAH!
Frankly, I personally wasn't that annoyed with the winking. However, I was very annoyed with the constant blinking because she was too much of a ditz to make a gentle sweep of her hand to remove her hair (bangs) from her eyes. Even female broadcasters do that on camera at times without ever missing a beat or a word and the hand gesture is hardly noticeable. Palin was simply too busy playing "cutesy" and trying to be folksey than to behave more professionally.
Again more intelligence. Calling her a ditz? Why do people from both sides of the aisle continue to act like such children?

The Sarah Palin we saw last night was tutored for three days. She knew exactly what she was going to say. That's why she kept going back to the topics SHE chose.
The Sarah Palin we saw in those interviews with Gibson and Couric was the REAL Sarah. The answers she gave in those interviews came off the top of her head. She had no time to do the research before answering.
In my opinion, Sarah Palin is a cold hearted, empty headed, box of rocks. Sorry but that's how I and others feel.
When Joe Biden had his moment of emotion, Sarah showed no empathy what so ever for him. She will NOT be for the people of this country. Those who struggle each and every day just to get by. Joe and Barack will.
All of the anchors and reporters on the cable news channels are talking this morning about how well Sarah did in the debate. Have they forgotten how "well" she did in those interviews with Gibson and Couric? We haven't, and I for one will NEVER vote for an empty head.

Joe Biden who is admittedly more experienced, at least as far as the non executive branch of government goes was tutored and trained as well. All of these candidates are. Do you really think Biden was not waiting for the family thing to be brought up?
You guys seem to forget about your hero Bill Clinton who was elected President with basically the same type of experience as Palin. A governor of a state. A small state at that. I'm glad you guys think edited interviews are better than the real thing. They are saying she did well because she did.
I think Biden did well also. I watched the debate closely. But he should have. This was not his first debate. But I noticed there were many things he said that were not exactly true as well.
