My question is, why? Was she trying to woo America?

I really hate it when people wink. It implies an intimacy that doesn't really exist. Once in a while I see someone for whom winking is so natural and playful that it defintely works and is very charming. She was not one of these people.
I really don't want a politician who acts like they're in a beauty pageant rather than a political debate.
The winking - otherwise known as the "eyelash problem" was tacky, immature & embarrassing. Quite honestly I watched the debate & don't even remember the topic of discussion that resulted in "the wink". What I do remember is the same feeling as when watching a jiggly girl in a beer commercial. Nausea.
With all Hillary's faults, no one could EVER say..
She wasn't informed & thoughtful about our countries issues & history.
She never played "blonde" by flirting & acting dim to get by.
She would never have disrespected an elder statesman by calling him by his 1st name & using his name in a bad 1 liner.
I believe that women politicians are necessary for our country..
QUALIFIED WOMEN.
Palin is not 1 of them.
I am so apalled by this woman, it just ruins my day. I have a lot of women friends. NOT ONE would be so clueless about the task in front of her that she would have been unable first to do a competent self analysis and conclude she would be diving off the continental shelf with no air and weights just accepting the nomination. Guys, keep it simple: Sarah mentioned her father, looked down at the audience where he was sitting, and obviously winked at him. If you play the video with her actual audio instead of this music, you'll clearly see it.
So what's the big deal about it?
Actually, at one (or two) moment she looks directly into the camera and winks. And it's a big deal because it's bizarre and inappropriate.
I'm ok with her winking at her dad. I'm not ok with the two other times (that I saw) that she did it. It's inappropriate.
Something tells me that Tina Fey is standing in front of a mirror winking right now.

The McCain camp says we need to look forward, and stresses their record. What was the legacy she left behind in Wasilla? How much debt did the hockey arena cost the residents? Yes they have records, find the truth. I guess we should say she had leadership in Wasilla- she hired a town manager to run the town making the mayor office a little easier to run.
Why couldn't Sarah Palin look Jill Biden in the eye?
