ABC News:

Following Thursday's one and only vice-presidential debate, the mood in the Biden camp was nothing short of buoyant as they bolted out of St. Louis in the middle of the night.

When he arrived at the airport after his big Show-Me State showdown with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Sen. Joe Biden told reporters that he was "feeling good" and flashed two thumbs up.

Aboard the flight back to Wilmington, the good vibes continued with a champagne toast from the senator's son Hunter, one of 15 Biden family members to accompany the Democratic vice-presidential nominee to the Washington University duel.

Celebrate tonight, and then back to work....there will be more to celebrate in 30 days.

Still, I wonder if there was a toast on SP's plane? If so, it was 'wow, that's over and I didn't make a fool of myself. You Betcha!' Quite different than raising your glasses to the next Vice President of the United States.

Congratulations Joe you were incredible. I espcially loved the, "John McCain is not a Maverick" your the only one with the b@lls to say it and the integrity to get away with it. P.S. My 10 year old daughter said you were good looking.

He did such a fantastic job. He showed how experienced he is and was every inch the statesman - very polished and professional. Her folksy demeanor was too folksy for me and showed a lack of understanding of the issues and kept going back to her comfort zone of talking about energy.

Joe should feel proud of himself. He had 70 million people watch him slay McCain!!! He didn't allow himself to get distracted by the lipstick, either. All the polls say he won and he really did!! Good job, Joe!!

So,Joe Biden said that if Barack Obama were to die in office, that would be a “national tragedy of historic proportion.” Really? I suppose that might be true if you were a self-appointed messiah, sent to save the helpless citizens of this great country of ours. But let’s get real.

Hurricane Katrina was a national tragedy of historic proportion.

Pearl Harbor was a national tragedy of historic proportion.

The September, 2001 terrorist attacks against our country was a national tragedy of historic proportion.

The killing of 4,000 babies each and every day continues to be a national tragedy of historic proportion.

But the death of a sitting President? Sure, it would be a sad, unfortunate event. But to call it a “national tragedy of historic proportion” only serves to illuminate the self-centered opinion Obama and Biden have of themselves. If Obama gets elected, I’m afraid the first thing he would do is spend millions of dollars enlarging the Oval Office to fit his ego.

We certainly could use just a bit more humility from our leaders.

No, I don't think so. That was already done... by your Big Daddy, Bush, Jr. That's where all that Katrina money ended up.

When Bush and chertoff stalled for two days and said, they didn't know anything about Katrina, while we all were watching in horror on CNN for two days, I said to my mother, "I just figured it out, they are writing up the contracts so Haliburton, Cheney can get all the money" and gosh darn it I was right.

From your username, you clearly won't appreciate this. But I'm going to say it anyway: the death of a President IS a national tragedy of historic proportion." It causes damage to the country and its citizens in a way you would scarcely believe. Talk to the people who were old enough to understand what was going on when MLK and RFK were assassinated (and this is the forty year anniversary of those events: I'm surprised you haven't heard about them.) The effects were felt for decades. The civil rights movement was pushed back, the workers' movement led by Cesar Chavez was delayed, and the country sank deeper into Vietnam, a war both MLK and RFK opposed.

The real egotist on display Thursday night was Sarah Palin, who was unable to respond with emotional appropriateness to either this question or to Biden's choking up. "Yah, that sure would be sad, blah blah blah President Me blah blah maverick blah blah." And it sounds as though, according to the polls, most undecided voters felt the same way.

From your username, I would have guessed that you were a pretty smart person....smart enough to know that I was talking about the death of a President...and neither MLK nor RFK were presidents.

Nonetheless, the broader point that I was making is that there are far worse things happening than the death of an individual, regardless of that person's stature or postion.

You obviously weren't around for the Kennedy assassination. I was. Same time zone. (Kansas) And let me tell you, it was horrific. Grown men sobbing as well as us women. We were lost.

And being the first black president would bring much to light in this country. Barack Obama is going to become a leader that will take our country into a place it hasn't been for quite some time. We will get out of the hole we are in and anyone who would take that away would create such a stir in this country that it would be a national tragedy. It would not be just the death of a president, but the death of a great leader who is taking us to new heights, and brought down by low ideals that could stir up many political and racial views in this country.

I would imagine they were rejoicing! Joe didn't say one stupid thing! That's pretty good for him!

And the Republicans are rejoicing over Palin coming off so well.

All in all a good night for both sides.

Palin didn't answer a single question. If the question had the word Iraq in it, she regurgitated a mermorized bush talking point. If the question had the word Courts in it, she just regurgitated the pre-written republican talking point she memorized for 5 weeks. Really are the american people soo stupid?

Biden's very impressive. If he could have gotten the press to say his name or photograph him during the primary he might even have won.

You know, I was kind of hoping for Biden to just stomp Palin like a bug. I would have been pleased with that - but the fact that he treated her kindly and paid her the respect of actually listening to her positions made me LOVE him.

Frankly I thought Joe was more respectful disagreeing with Palin, than McCain was agreeing with her in that creepy joint interview they did with Katie Couric.

Joe Biden showed that class isn't about where you're from or how much you make, it's what you are.

Joe knew better than to fall into the trap she had so clumsily laid for him.

"Can I call you Joe?"

Why did Joe and Barack leave almost all of this out?
Crooks and Liars,
"McCain: refused to support veterans by refusing to vote for veteran benefits, health care and support; refused to support the troops in combat by voting against extra armor for them; refused to support the troops by first cheer leading for and then voting for en miring America in Bush’s war of choice in Iraq; refused to support the real front in Afghanistan by continually voting against any withdrawal from Iraq. It also lists a whole slew of McCain’s foreign policy gaffes, pointing to systemic ignorance and bad judgment rather than a few accidental mis-speakings."

Poor Preparation.

Were we listening to the same debate? I could swear that Biden brought up the body armor specifically, the votes on Iraq, etc., and Obama covered a lot of the other issues in last Fridays' debate.

Let's not forget history and get over confident. Lloyd Bentsen undressed Dan Quayle, but we all know what happened. Quayle became VP. We need to finish the job, make sure we head to the polls, and bury these fakirs.

Yes, yes, yes, we must keep the momentum. Talk to anyone you can. Don't harass them, just highlight the right, keep it positive. Point out the wrongs you have to, but let's make sure this doesn't flip! We need these two in office so badly. Let's make sure Obama and Biden have the vicotry they deserve and that we all deserve, even those who don't realize this is what they need. Let's stay vigilant... cast your bread into the water.

Great job, Joe. I appreciate your patience with that fool woman. You could have gone for her jugular and gotten the kill on a number of occasions but you simply allowed her to showcase her mediocrity. Thank you.

Biden is an adult. He's experiencd in the ways of the world. He knows history. He has a fund of knowledge about the process of government and how it works. He could be president tomorrow and we'd all be better for it. Last night he showed his reach, his experience, his intelligence. CNN polls showed he went from 67% believing he's qualified to be vp to 87%. That leaves the base GOPer who is radically right wing and/or retarded. Palin pales by comparison to Joe Biden.
